Chapter 192 - Chapter 192 The Special Features of Odis

Odis's spiritual senses indicated that what was happening to Dylan Edmund was not simple.

He thought for a moment before asking, "Did you try to have someone approach that figure and see if you could communicate with it?"

"I tried it." A hint of regret appeared on Dylan's face. "I shouldn't have tried it so easily."

He paused for a moment before saying, "Under normal circumstances, others cannot see that figure. Only after I point it out can people see him."

"So I asked one of my servants to take a closer look at the figure."

"As a result, when I was still some distance away from that figure, he suddenly burst into light blue flames. By the time I ran over to put out the fire, he had already been burned to death."

"And it was burned very thoroughly, leaving only ashes."

Dylan sighed. "From then on, I never dared to let anyone near that figure again."

Odis thought for a moment and then asked, "Didn't you go to the church to seek a solution?"

"My uncle said that if the church people find out about this, I'll die even faster," Dylan said with a wry smile. "My father also told me to try not to let the church people know about this."

"They seem to know something inside, but no matter how I ask, they won't tell me."

"I had no choice but to seek solutions from my father everywhere. We tried many strange methods, such as hiding in a jar for a whole day, but the figure was still there."

"I suggest you go to the church to solve the problem," Odis said. "Relatively speaking, the church, with its thousands of years of history, has seen many strange problems and also has ways to solve them."

Odis, who considered himself learned, had never heard of such a thing and was completely clueless. His words were a subtle way of reminding Dylan that he couldn't solve the problem.

Dylan sighed. "I understand."

He smiled helplessly: "Perhaps I should really listen to my father. Instead of looking for ways to solve the problem now, I should get married quickly and leave a child before I die."

"Don't be so pessimistic," Odis said. "This figure is currently harmless, and you still have a chance."

The cross-eyed man standing nearby sighed, "If even such a powerful wizard can't solve this problem, then this problem may really be insurmountable."

Dylan stood up with a solemn expression, about to take his leave, but he suddenly froze.

Then, he suddenly looked out the window, then turned back to Odis and said, "Wizard, that figure just spoke!"

Odis glanced at the figure again; he was still on the street in the distance, his face obscured, and he heard no voice.

"He said he can see your special qualities." Dylan's whole body seemed to tremble slightly, whether from nervousness or excitement. "He said others can't see it, but he can!"

Odis opened her mouth, then immediately thought of her most unique feature.

A time traveler? A "wilderness of knowledge"?

It's most likely the latter!

Odis soon realized that even a true god would have difficulty perceiving his time-traveling experiences.

Then he wondered: What kind of monster is this? How could it detect my connection with the "Wilderness of Knowledge"? Theoretically, it should only be at Sequence 6 that the aura emanating from the "Wilderness of Knowledge" can be detected by some high-sequence individuals.

At that moment, Dylan suddenly bowed deeply to Odis: "Wizard, please save me!"

The figure had been there for so long that he was almost used to its presence.

But he didn't say a word or make any response from beginning to end.

Just today, the other party actually spoke up!

This gave Dylan a glimmer of hope, and he certainly couldn't give up on it easily.

Odis frowned: "What else did he say?"

Dylan listened attentively for a moment and then shook his head: "He didn't say anything more."

Odis then turned to look at the monster: "Who are you?"

A dozen seconds later, Dylan shook his head again: "The other party did not answer your question."

Odis frowned, took out his pipe, and began stuffing it with tobacco while pondering how to solve the problem.

He took a couple of puffs of his cigarette and suddenly said to Dylan, "Tell me more about your uncle."

"My uncle is rather mysterious," Dylan quickly added. "He's not in Backlund most of the time, and we don't know where he goes."

"From childhood to adulthood, he has always given me a very cold feeling, as if he doesn't like me and my sister."

"However, he was quite concerned about the family curse and comforted me many times, telling me to treat that figure as air and not pay too much attention to it."

"At the same time, he also told me about his understanding of the curse."

"Oh, by the way, my sister's belongings were given to me by my uncle. He and my father accompanied my sister on the last journey of her life."

"According to my father, three months before my sister passed away, my uncle returned from out of town and helped take care of her for a period of time."

"I think that although he was cold, he still cared for us."

Odis asked again, "Was the photograph you showed me earlier among those relics?"

Dylan replied, "Yes."

What's your uncle's name? Does he have any family?

"His name is Fitch," Dylan said. "He has no family, but I heard from my father that a few years ago, my uncle had several women, and it seems that they all had children with him."

"Although my uncle didn't bring them back home, he still sends them living expenses every month?"

Odis frowned: "A few years ago?"

He seemed to have suddenly found a clue: "Did he only start looking for women to have children for him after your grandfather passed away?"

Dylan thought for a moment before saying, "It seems so."

Then he asked, "Mr. Wizard, have you found any clues?"

"I just suddenly thought of it." Odis took a puff of his pipe. "If it's a family curse, theoretically, after your grandfather dies, it should be your mother's turn, and after your mother dies, it should be your uncle's turn."

"But the problem is, after your mother died, it was your sister who suffered the curse, which is very strange!"

Dylan opened his mouth: "You...you won't doubt that it was your uncle...your uncle..."

"Hopefully it wasn't your uncle who 'bestowed' the curse upon your sister," Odis smiled. "But he may know more, and I think we should give him a visit."

Dylan nodded: "That makes sense."

Odis added, "You all go outside and wait a moment while I make some preparations."

His main task was preparing for battle, and if he wasn't mistaken, Dylan's uncle was an Extraordinary who had chosen a path leaning towards evil.

After making some preparations, Odis met up with Dylan and the cross-eyed man, hailed a horse-drawn carriage, and headed to the outskirts of Backlund.

On the carriage, the cross-eyed man introduced himself. His name was Payne, and he ran a clothing factory. He had always bought fabric from Dylan. They both loved the violin and often chatted together. Over time, they became very good friends.

Dylan was somewhat uneasy: "I wonder if my uncle is home. He often goes out. What should I do if he's not home?"

Actually, he was a little nervous, afraid that it really was his uncle who had killed his sister.

Odis said, "Even if he's not home, we must search his room thoroughly and look for evidence."

"That might be your only hope of survival."

He was now almost certain that Dylan's uncle, Fitch, had tampered with the curse. When he gave Dylan's sister's belongings to Dylan, he must have completed some kind of ritualistic process, transferring the curse onto Dylan.

Dylan paused for a moment, then said, "Okay, okay."

Things had developed in a way that completely exceeded his expectations, and at this point he had no choice but to listen to the wizard.

After chatting for a while, the carriage quieted down. Odis looked out the window and saw that the fog had thinned out a bit after leaving the city of Backlund.

Not a single mistake, not a single poem, not a single post, not a single piece of content, not a single look!

Farmland began to appear on both sides of the road, and villages could be seen in the fields.

Occasionally, one can see some walls and tall buildings in the courtyards; these are the estates of nobles or wealthy people. In fact, there are not many free people left around Backlund.

The carriage traveled for another half hour before finally arriving at Uncle Dylan's house.

This used to be Dylan's grandfather's villa. Not far away is a sizable lake, and around the lake, a ring of villas and estates was built.

While it's comfortable to stay here in the summer, living around the lake in the winter is not so pleasant, especially in a foggy place like Backlund, where the villas must be very damp and cold.

Arriving at a small villa, Dylan got out of the carriage and saw that the gate was unlocked. He then said to the coachman, "Please wait here for us."

The driver was happy to wait, since the waiting time was included in the fare.

Dylan went up and knocked on the door: "Uncle Fitch! Uncle Fitch?"

After waiting for about half a minute, Odis and the others heard the sound of a door opening inside. A few seconds later, a man who looked to be in his thirties opened the courtyard gate and said coldly, "Dylan? What are you doing here?"

He glanced warily at Payne and Odis, his gaze lingering on Odis, since it was rare to see people dressed as wizards these days.

Dylan whispered, "Let's go inside and talk about the curse."

Fitch paused for a moment before stepping aside to let a few people in.

Upon entering the living room with its enormous fireplace, the group sat on the sofa. Dylan and Pine quickly began to shiver from the cold, as the fireplace, though large, was not lit.

This made the room very cold and damp, even colder than outside.

"Let me light the fireplace," Odis said with a smile. "I'm an expert at lighting fireplaces."

With a wave of his hand, the firewood beside the fireplace flew into it on its own. This was a "levitation spell" invented by Odis based on his research on the dragon's magic circle.

The same witchcraft was used to deliver the water cup to Dylan and Payne earlier.

After the firewood had been arranged by itself, Odis flicked some powder with his finger, and with a "whoosh," the fireplace was instantly ignited.

This move amazed Dylan and Payne once again, while Fitch looked at Odis with a serious expression.

"I hope we don't waste any time," Odis said. "Let's get down to business now."

"Dylan asked me to investigate the figure following him, Mr. Fitch. He once heard you say it was a curse, right?"

Fitch said coldly to Dylan, "How many times have I told you, don't tell anyone else about this, or you'll die even faster."

"Uncle Fitch, but this wizard is very different!" Dylan explained, "The figure beside me actually spoke after seeing this wizard."

Fitch jumped up, looking surprised. "Impossible! You must have misheard. This wizard must be playing tricks on you, using some kind of sorcery."

"To be honest, before meeting you, I had no confidence at all about this matter. I really wanted to bring Dylan to the church and let the church solve the problem," Odis said calmly.

"But that figure is something that bothers me, so I've decided to investigate what's going on."

Then he stared into Fitch's eyes: "You know who that figure is, right?"

"I…" Fitch calmed down with astonishing speed: "I don't know."

As the room gradually warmed up, Odis glanced at the roaring fireplace and smiled, "Then I'll have to tell you about the heinous things you've done."

"It seems that your family's curse did not affect you for a long time, until Dylan's grandfather got old, and then the curse suddenly appeared on him."

"I don't know where you got the detailed information, but you are very clear that once the curse begins, it will take the lives of every member of your family."

"First is your sister, who is Dylan's mother."

"Theoretically, you should be next, but you performed an evil ritual that turned the curse on Dylan's sister."

"In addition, your father, who is Dylan's maternal grandfather, fell seriously ill soon after realizing that the curse had reappeared, so he asked you to explain the curse to Dylan's mother."

"So, you weren't telling the truth at all, were you?"

Before the other party could say anything, Odis smiled and said, "Oh, by the way, you only started going out to find women to have children after Dylan's grandfather passed away."

"If I'm not mistaken, your original plan was to have your child bear the curse for you."

"But soon you discovered some serious problems. The children could only bear the curse after they reached a certain age, so you set your sights on the Dylan siblings!"

"I don't know how you made Dylan's sister the target of the curse, but I know from Dylan's description that you gave him some of his sister's belongings."

"You must have used the transfer of the relics to transfer the target of the curse as well."

Odis's description left Dylan and Payne speechless.

They all looked at Fitch, who was also somewhat surprised, but quickly became indifferent: "If it weren't for the 'witchcraft' you just used, I would have thought you were a 'detective'."

Then he said coldly, "Since you already know so much, then stay here forever."

Fitch then looked at Dylan: "As for you, I will imprison you in the dungeon until the curse takes your life."
