Chapter 6 - A World Beyond Dimension

"This is truly...HIS story"

__________

Niyah yawned in an exaggerated manner which earned an annoyed huff from Kuro who sat nearby on a different sofa.

"Good morning. Now, let's get straight to business. Who are you and what can you do"

Kuro demanded in a sharp tone which earned the click of a tongue from Niya, her eyes rolling to the back of her head in a quick succession which made her irritation clear.

"So insensitive. Anyway, like I said before. My name is Niyah Monroe. I'm a soul class just like you. My power is that of a cosmic unicorn. My magic is far more advanced than even the elven, fairies, and dragon tribe. Oh, and I'm the daughter of the unicorn tribe leader"

Niyah explained with a smile and small tilt of her head to express her otherworldly cuteness, befitting of a cosmic unicorn princess. Kuro on the other hand sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. Of course, he had to meet someone of high importance. It was like his life was trying to fit a narrative of a romance comedy with action.

"A magical unicorn princess. Of course. Why are you even here?"

Kuro asked with a slight raised eyebrow, his fingers slightly tucked underneath his chin to support the weight of his head. He stared intently at Niyah, waiting for her response.

"To protect you. We unicorns know that after the end, a new beginning will become. To put it shortly."

Niyah proclaimed nonchalantly, unbothered that her existence will be erased someday. For those who knew her, she had a very optimistic outlook on life.

"Alright. For starters, you must climb the rank of power within the academy. Good luck"

Niyah proclaimed as she exploded in a cloud of colorful dust and sparkles, though it left no stain and faded out of reality as if it was an illusion.

"I need to learn how to wield this power properly-"

Kuro exclaimed with a tone of dedication and in moments he suddenly blacked out. His vision dark and he found himself floating in the depths of his subconscious. Rapid changing images flashing across the void and submerging his 'vision' and before he knew it, everything was shrunk and compacted into one point, once again bringing his 'vision' to darkness.

.

"Prove to me you deserve this power"

.

Kuro eyes suddenly fluttered open, and he found himself still lying against the cold, marbled, floor of his estate left to him by his parents. Immediately, he stood up in a hurry and took out his phone from his pocket and looked at the date.

"Oh shit! I've been out for 3 days?!"

Kuro exclaimed in agitated confusion, now focused on doing correcting his routine by running to the bathroom and swiftly taking a shower. Then he changed into his academy uniform, tossing his backpack onto his back and rushing out the open window of his bedroom.

His golden eyes glanced down at the steep view of the ground, his perception revealing to him that he was hundred meters from the ground. A small smile graced his face as the wind brushed against his entire body.

Then the world around Kuro blurred in a relativistic effect and as he touched the ground, he now stood in front of the academy. A subtle dust cloud rising up from his unbelievable speed and with a sigh he entered the building.

"Welcome back my lovely students! Please make your way to the field."

The headmaster of the academy exclaimed in a tone of unmatched excitement. Most students groaned knowing that they came back during sparring day, a day most were very unhappy to attend but reluctantly went anyway.

.

"Okay. As most of you have noticed, we have two new students today. The first match will be Kuro Nasaki vs ji-yun Luko."

The headmaster proclaimed with a subtle glance to the two students who made their way to the front of the gathered class.

"The match is concluded when the other can no longer fight. Begin."

The headmaster exclaimed and with a clap of his hand, the start of the sparring session began.

.

 "Elemental Art: Ice Arrow

Ji-yun exclaimed in a distorted whisper as icy blue mist began gathering around his hands. Then an ancient sigil wrapped in a layer of mystical circles bared itself into reality, shaping itself into a bow of pure ice.

Kuro eyes narrowed a bit upon witnessing the destructive temperature of his adversary's ice magic. The sheer intensity had frozen the ground around them in a subtle layer of frost. The air felt chilly and dry as it brushed across the open field and with precision of an elite archer, Ji-yun pulled the string of his icy bow back.

A swirling mass of chaotic energy that replicated the element of ice had eventually shaped itself into a bow, resting in the gap that Ji-yun created from positioning the string into a ready position.

.

"Chaos Art: Flames of Discord"

Kuro voice rung out like a bass of a stereo. His words altered the very state of space itself, his magical energy flaring in a quarter of its potency, displaying a subtle crimson aura around his body. Then fierce flames roared to life, both his hands setting ablaze in an elemental mimicry of fire.

The arrow constructed of elemental ice energy shot forward at breakneck speed, the sheer velocity generating a pressure at the tip that bent a ninety-degree angle proportional to the tip of the arrow. This visible display indicated that the arrow was nearly reaching the speed of sound. This was called subsonic velocity, the speed that was less than the speed of sound.

Kuro sped forward with clear determination and unwavering dedication to win. His acceleration reaching 150 meters per second in just a few seconds. His soul energy absorbed the negative impacts related to g-force which allowed him to begin his velocity, acceleration, and speed at any pace that did not exceed the speed of sound.

Kuro was now face to face with the ice arrow. His body already initiating a ducking sequence that allowed him to narrowly dodge the blitzing arrow. In a moment of surprise, Kuro snatched the arrow from midair, steam and pressure exuding from the contact of ice and fire.

Ji-yun eyes slightly widened in surprise when his arrow was caught mid-flight, but everything was obscured which annoyed Ji-yun. Though the young teen had no time to ponder and was forced on the defense by Kuro, a swift horizontal backfist that nearly took off Ji-yun head, which was narrowly dodged.

Ji-yun quickly backpaddled and ducked from an arching reverse leg sweep, then crossing his arms to absorb the impact of a side kick which launched him out the smoke.

Ji-yun gritted his teeth in anger, his feet landing and skidding against the ground as he held his guard position. Steam subtly rose from his forearms, indicating that the chaos imbued flames were the cause.

"Magic Art: Twin Ice Dragon Dance"

Ji-yun uttered out in a distorted whisper, his words bringing to life ancient sigil's imbued with the elemental ice energy and mystical circles. Suddenly two giant defined dragons conjured from ice shot into the sky and Ji-yun rushed forward in a blitzing blur.

As the cloud of steam faded away, Kuro was nowhere to be seen. The crowd of students wondered in confusion but did not have to wait long, as Kuro appeared directly proportional from the twin dragons soaring into the sky.

"Let's see if I can try it again"

"Pure Soul Art #1: Causality Defiance"

These words that were uttered held more power than previous techniques. It defied logic and twisted space, bent the very physical laws that governs the universe and reached the threshold of power.

Ji-yun watched in utter disbelief from the serene scenery, his mouth agape at the potent soul energy that lit up the sky in a brilliant crimson light.
