Chapter 5 - service

"I do not want any of Blaze juice on me, Mel is like my second mom and Blaze is like the crazy step dad." he said seriously as he tried to not laugh at the burning faces of his teachers and mom. Izuku dipped through his portal and went to finish his armor.

It was only a few days before the UA entrance exam, Izuku was currently reading a book about Dragon riders from the US and he was scintillating trying to summon a dragon. A knock at the door stopped him from destroying his house with a giant dragon. Getting up since he was the only one in the house currently since everybody else was at the castle. He opened the door to the last person he had ever expected to be here and he was not exploding. Bakugo was standing in the door wearing a tank top and pants seeming calmer then usual. Izuku didn't say anything but raised an eyebrow. Izuku was surprised again when he didn't yell but sighed and looked him in the eyes.

"I want to talk." Izuku found himself walking down the now cleaned beach that had previously been covered in trash. Bakugo was already sitting down near the surf so Izuku sat down next to him.

"So, what's this about?" Izuku asked after a moment of silence. Bakugo took a second to breath and was about to talk but then hesitated. Izuku had seen some slight changes over the months in school after the Sludge incident. Bakugo had stopped bullying people mostly and had avoided him constantly, he had even heard Mitsuki saying that her brat was finally going to therapy.

"I want… to say thanks, And… sorry." Bakugo glared into the sand as he rested his arms on his knees. This made Izuku lean back slightly in shock. He had not expected this.

"I saw the way those people looked at you after the sludge thing and it got me thinking, why don't people look at me like that? Am I not supposed to be the next number-one hero? Why is a freak like him being looked like he is?" Bakugo took a deep breath and looked at Izuku from the corner of his eye.

"I did some research, dumb I know it should have been obvious what was wrong. But it wasn't, the stupid counselor at that shifty school only said that I should show my strength over you." Bakugo figured with a bracelet that Izuku had just noticed on his wrist. It was a distinct bracelet that showed he had to go to food shelters for free food. Izuku got a sudden pang of worry that he tried to smother for only moment.

"I talked with my mom as well, I asked her to kick me out for a bit, I wandered around the city trying to find out what was wrong with me, found this place and a few pair of old quirkless people living in the rubble. Stayed with them a bit and they showed me the ropes." Bakugo's voice caught slightly at the mention of the old couple and Izuku let his gaze wander back to the two crosses made of metal embedded into the sand with the mounds of sand signifying graves.

"They told me about what was wrong with me, they helped me… and then they died, a old car like here fell on them and crushed them…" Bakugo was crying silently now starring off into the sea. Izuku put a hand in his shoulder and gave a small squeeze.

"I couldn't save them and when I called the heroes as soon as they heard that they were quirkless the left, they left Izuku… they left two people to die." Izuku was more shocked about Bakugo calling him by his name then the idea of heroes not being heroes. He had read the statistics and had joined a few group chats with quirkless people and it was horrible.

"Thats when I went home, mom was actually happy to see me… and after that I've come back every day and been cleaning this place…" Bakugo had wiped his tears away and raised up his fist the glow of red electricity sparking off his hands. Izuku shifted back slightly from the constant schocks this conversation was giving him and that did not look like Bakugo's quirk.

"I met All Might, and we got talking, he decide he saw something in myme and had been training me." Izuku gazed back out and saw the trail of footprints leading down the surf where Bakugo had been obviously running, then he imagined Bakugo running along with All Might at his side.

"He gave me his quirk after I finished." Bakugo looked fully at Izuku now two firey red orbs meeting the glistening emerald and ruby orbs. Izuku had heard of quirk transfers like through the Boggy Man but not from this.

"He said that I should inherit his title of symbol of peace…" he looked into Izuku's eyes and Izuku saw the doubt in them.

"Do you think you deserve it?" Izuku asked after a moment. And Bakugo shook his head and turned back to the ocean.

"Are yo trying to change?" Izuku asked after thinking a moment and a flicker of hope filled his chest. Bakugo was an ass but an ass with a powerful quirk and a will and determination that could move mountains. If he was truly trying to change then Izuku should think about forgiving him and Izuku was ent even mad about him having All Mights quirk.

"Yeah, I guess, my therapist is in another city so it takes some times but I actually talk with my parents now." Bakugo admitted as he watched Izuku stand up and dust his sandy shorts off.

"Well, I don't think I can forgive you yet for the scars, but your trying to be better and I respect that. Even All Might thinks that's something." Izuku held a hand out to Bakugo that was once slapped away in anger but was now grabbed with calased hands.

"I know that, but I hope I can get it back, and thanks for saving me back at that villain attack." Bakugo admitted as he was pulled up with ease. They clasped hands for a moment a promise of brotherhood two men trying to be the best versions of themselvesves.

"So an entire beach huh? Bet the ladies love that." Izuku teased slightly as he slapped the defended shoulder muscles of Bakugo. Bakugo slapped the hand playfully away and they started ribbing each other while a gaunt man watched from the road overlooking the beach.
