Chapter 10 - Arrival Of The Ghost - 1

"P-Please, let me g-go." Each drop of blood fell from his forehead; the agony fueled more. His cybernetic leg was cut off clean. Blood was dripping and the leg was exposed. His one eye was missing, bleeding from the socket, and some of his fingers were missing. His clothes torn apart. The most brutal thing is he was in chains. The chains were keeping him locked to the roof. Hanging and torn apart piece by piece.

Beside him there was a bunch of artificial limbs and a bunch of weapons. The arms were incredibly noticeable. An arm which had an axe wrist. A knife wrist arm. An arm that had a long firearm attached. Modified spare parts and artificial changeable arms set.

"Will you have some more?"

"Nah, I am good; you finish the rest."

"Do you want some?"

Mira looked at the man who's in chains and asked him with a playful smile. Both of them sitting on the couch. In front of them there was a bunch of different packages of snacks and weapons laying around.

"I-I don't know anything." The man's voice barely sounded. Mira gave an annoyed reaction and says, "How rude! I was offering you a slice of pizza, your loss."

They looked ahead. A projection screen in front of them. The screen was showing two different parts. One of them was mech fighting and on the other part a typical news of the day.

Mira takes a bite and looked excited. "Yama, look, he's winning."

"Let me read the headlines, Mi." Yama stretched his hands towards the bag of chips and grabbed it.

"Please, let me go. I don't know where she is. She never took me to her place." The man poured all his remaining strength just to say it. Blood was covering beneath him.

Mira looked at him. No smiles and no playful expressions. She looked at him with a serious and bold look. "If she never took you to her place, then how the hell did you extract data from a main grid system?"

The man trembled. His own words caused it to snap. "Apparently a system that holds a data broker's main grid can't be carried out in an implant or drive because there are millions of data which is stored."

"It wasn't me; I had a middle man. I used to send him. Trust me." The man bleeds and speaks. He suddenly shifted to a more tensed appearance.

"Ohh, honey, really? Because as long as I am concerned, we already killed your so-called middle man." Mira smiles.

"Which we weren't supposed to." Yama puts up the spice. "Oh, shut up; you are making me uncool. Watch your damn news." She slapped Yama on the neck, but since his body is so massive and bulky he didn't even feel or flinch.

The man was trembling in fear. His blood pressure went up. His eyes get wide opened. Mira stands up and walked towards the part of the room where the arms and weapons were laying. She looked at the arms and muttered, "Which one should I pick this time."

Yama glances at her while she was looking at them. Yama looked a bit concerned and focused. Mira reached her hands towards the axe wrist arm. Suddenly Yama stood up and even before Yama took a step she picked the knife wrist arm.

Yama quickly sits down and looked back at the screen. Mira takes a quick glance at him and walked towards the man. She stood in front of him. The smile on her face looked as evil as her appearance. "Do you know what I hate the most, Mark?"

The man, aka Mark, started breathing heavily, his eyes wide opened and he's trembling in fear. Mira grabbed her right arm. Suddenly her right arm gets split from her elbow. A cybernetic changeable modification. She takes out her arm and puts the one with the knife. The wrist knife arm gave a silvery glow when she plugged it in her elbow. "Liars," she whispered.

Apex complex. The biggest living residence. Almost 322 apartments are situated in this skyscraper. Some have normal families living a peaceful life while some apartments are as shady as the front door.

She packs her bags in a rush. A black square box. A bunch of cybernetic implant chips. A passport and some documents. "I have twenty minutes before he shows up." She muttered to herself. Vi looks at the axes and walked towards them. She grabbed them and tucked them in her hip belt. The sound of them connecting to the magnetic belt felt satisfying. She looked at her screen and saw Kaito walking towards the first floor stairs.

"Cancel visual." Upon her command the live visual shuts off. "Activate self-destruction." As she said it the scene turned red and a text popped up in front of her screen.

Confirmation required.

"Violet Valley." She says it out loud.

Self-destruction activated. Time remaining - 20 minutes.

The system sounded clear and echoed through her soul. She looked at her bag and grabbed it. Upon holding it she looks around and looked a bit emotional while staring at her room. "Another runaway, I guess."

She leaves the red screen open. The countdown doesn't stop. She opened the door and was ready to leave. Suddenly she stopped and flinched. Her calling implant received an unknown call. In her ears the system whispered, "Caller ID unknown. Swipe to receive."

She looked a bit confused but calm. She touched her ear and received the call. "Who is it?" Her voice sounded crystal clear. "Who is it?" She says it again but whoever is on the other side didn't talk.

"Am I speaking to Vi-X?" The voice sounded clear, unlike the glitchy transmissions before. "What will you say if it isn't her." She stood her ground. She doesn't move an inch after receiving the call.

"Well, so you're her, I guess. Listen, I know you're under a tight schedule, but I am busy as well. So do me a favor; listen to me carefully." From the other side.

She closed the door and stood outside. She leaned backwards and looked aside. The stretched-out hallway. Not a single soul except her. The sixty-seventh floor was her location. "By the tone of yours, you sound like a gentleman who lacks basic manners like introduction." She doesn't hold back on reverse psychology.

"Ha-haha, you're pretty good, I can say." His hand on the steering wheel. His eyes locked up ahead and his eyes gave the unpredictable look as usual. "My name is Michael Cade. Rank S2. Hexagon Wingman. Ring any bells?"

As soon as she heard it she froze up. Her eyes wide opened. She takes a deep breath and looked around. She looked around but saw nobody.

"Don't worry, I am not up there, but one of my students is inside the complex. If you cooperate you will get out of there."

Vi started walking. She doesn't look back, neither speaks a single word. She makes her way towards the stairs. "What do you want? If you're here to capture me then forget it." She walked and talked big. Deep inside she knows the stakes.

"Capture? You? Don't joke. I am not suitable for low-grade jobs. I am only calling you to inform and help."

She stopped in front of the stairs and says, "What kind of help?" She looked furious and almost lost her cool. Her voice echoes through the stairs.

"The man who's coming for you is no joke. He can take you down without even any modifications; remember that. Make your way to the twenty-sixth floor; my student is waiting for you."

Vi looks back and something felt wrong. She has never seen the hallway this empty. Something felt off. "And what do you want in exchange?"

"The copy of the records you hold." Michael looked evil while saying it. Unhinged expression and eyes as dark as a viper. As soon as Michael says it, Vi quickly cuts off the call. She hangs up and quickly takes out her calling implant. She grabbed her ear and forced the implant out from the back of her ear, causing her to bleed. She breathes heavily and quickly started climbing down the stairs.

"Huhhh! I guess I have no choice." Michael touched his ear and says, "You're up, Tio. Bring her in."

"Got it, Mr. Cade. I will make you proud." Tio rose from a crouch next to a dead body at the end of the hallway. In his right hand he was holding a kunai. The blade was covered in blood and the body was slashed in multiple places. He gets up and started walking towards the stairs as well. He looks back at the body and whispered, "Damn punks."

Kaito looks around while walking on the second floor hallway. Metal walls and the smell of engine oil and fresh paint was too strong, which covers the environment.

He glanced aside and sees a girl playing with her toys on the floor right in front of their apartment. He looked around and sees a man taking off his cybernetic helmet. He looked ahead and kept walking towards the elevator. Suddenly Kaito received a call in his comm implant.

Incoming call - Yamako

He touched his ear and received it, "Well, I thought you never preferred implant comms." Kaito and his playful expressions.

The comms glitches and the statics disrupted, "K-Kaito. G-Get out... N-Now."

"Yama, what's wrong?" He looked concerned. His playful expressions wiped off and he locked in. He looks around and sees that the child's mother dragged her inside and shuts the door. The man puts his helmet back on and closed the door in a rush. "Something's off."

"I-It's the g-ghost...." The call ends with a glitchy transmission from Yamako, leaving the players in the dark.
