Chapter 135 - Ground-Type Pokémon?! I, Pikachu, Specialize in Electrocuting Ground Types! The Vanished Memories!

Before watching Red's ranking,

the name Mewtwo meant absolutely nothing to the world.

They hadn't seen it.

They hadn't heard of it.

And yet—

The footage playing before them was undeniably real.

So what exactly was this?

Another parallel world?

Footage —

Ash was in battle against the pirate-like Trainer.

The opponent first sent out Scyther,

which was easily defeated by Bulbasaur.

Next came Machamp,

but Squirtle used clever tactics to knock it down as well.

Then came the truly outrageous part.

Seeing that Ash was overwhelmingly strong,

the pirate Trainer shamelessly released three Pokémon at once.

Golem. Venomoth. Pinsir.

All were Pokémon with solid base stats and respectable strength.

The pirate sneered, openly taunting Ash,

asking whether he dared to fight one versus three.

Ash didn't hesitate.

He sent out Pikachu.

One move.

Thunderbolt.

All three Pokémon were instantly defeated.

All three.

And one of them was Golem.

A Ground-type Golem—

was one-shot by an Electric attack.

Who would believe this?!

(Movie-opening Pikachu is truly broken.

Even Arceus would probably get shocked once.)

[Lance]: "Schrödinger's Pikachu! You'll never know whether its next move can one-shot a Ground type!"

[Lorelei]: "At this point in the timeline, Ash hadn't even received the Heavenly Rankings buffs yet!

No rebirth. No Light Ball.

What kind of absurd combat power is this?!"

[Diantha]: "Don't ask.

Just accept it.

It's Schrödinger-tier power scaling."

[Leon]: "I thought Pikachu lifting Ground types into the air with Magnet Rise and then blasting them during the Indigo League was already ridiculous…

But this?

I don't even understand what I'm watching."

Leon had once considered countering Ash in the future

by letting Cinderace change types and use Ground-type moves.

Now?

He silently discarded that idea.

Ground-type immunity to Electric?

Immunity to what?

Or as someone might say—

"You being immune to Electric has nothing to do with my Pikachu."

Under everyone's stunned gaze, Ash declared his victory.

The pirate Trainer stood there, dumbfounded.

It was probably the first time in his life

he had seen a Ground-type Pokémon get electrocuted into oblivion.

The scene shifted.

In the sky, a Ho-Oh—no, a Fearow flew past.

Around its neck was a device resembling a camera.

The truth became clear—

Mewtwo was watching them.

After escaping, Mewtwo had begun planning something.

It was monitoring all outstanding Trainers across the Kanto region.

Then, following its command,

a woman dressed like a nun began delivering invitations.

An invitation titled—

"The Strongest Pokémon Trainer Tournament."

The messenger Pokémon?

A Dragonite.

Kanto's pseudo-legendary had become… a mail carrier.

Soon, invitations reached Trainers all across the region.

Including Ash.

Upon learning that a competition for the strongest Trainer

would be held at New Island Pokémon Castle—

And that he had been personally invited—

Ash didn't hesitate for even a second.

Let's go!

[Lance]: "Wait… why didn't the Elite Four receive invitations?"

[Bruno]: "That's true. None of us did.

Did Mewtwo think our strength was 'out of bounds'?"

[Agatha]: "No.

Look closely.

Mewtwo used the most primitive selection method."

[Lorelei]: "Battle observation.

Every Trainer invited had recently fought—and performed exceptionally."

[Lance]: "So because we Elite Four rarely battle publicly…

That's why we weren't selected?"

[Diantha]: "That makes sense.

Bruno, what were you even thinking?

You couldn't beat Mewtwo even if it only used one hand."

[Bruno]: "..."

Bruno, once again, was publicly executed.

Footage —

The view shifted to Mewtwo itself.

It sat within New Island's castle,

three spherical fingers glowing with deep blue light.

With a casual wave—

The weather changed.

Clear blue skies were instantly swallowed by storm clouds.

The sea around New Island—and even near the mainland port—

began to churn violently.

Towering waves.

Howling winds.

Raging seas.

The entire region plunged into a violent storm.

The world fell silent.

This was the power of a Psychic-type high-tier Legendary.

A single thought—

And the heavens answered.

Compared to majestic Legendaries like Ho-Oh or Reshiram—

Mewtwo felt more terrifying.

Raw, overwhelming force.

Pure authority.

Other Pokémon could use Rain Dance or Sunny Day—

But those affected only a limited area.

Mewtwo's storm blanketed the entire islands

and extended across multiple cities.

Even a hundred Pokémon using Rain Dance together

couldn't achieve this.

Psychic-type had always been a broken attribute.

If Dark-type hadn't existed,

Psychic-types might have surpassed even Dragon-types.

Every high-tier Legendary had its specialty—

Ho-Oh revived the dead.

Lugia ruled the seas.

Zekrom commanded lightning.

Reshiram wielded flame.

Mewtwo?

It had no "special ability."

It was simply good at everything.

With the storm raging,

all ships heading to New Island were suspended.

Viewers were confused.

If Mewtwo wanted Trainers to come—

Why deliberately create obstacles?

Yes, it looked cool.

But… why?

At the harbor's Pokémon Center,

the manager, Boga, urgently warned Trainers not to sail.

Officer Jenny assisted in blocking departures.

Some Trainers protested—

But seeing the monstrous waves,

many seized the excuse and gave up.

After all—

The sea was too dangerous.

"…Misty, Brock… this place…"

"Yes," Brock said slowly.

"This is the Pokémon Center we visited back then."

"And yet… we couldn't remember why we were there."

They remembered the location vividly—

But not the purpose.

They remembered stepping outside

and realizing the rain had already stopped.

They remembered Ash claiming he met a Mythical Pokémon

after the storm cleared.

But nothing before that.

"…We must've experienced something," Brock murmured.

"Our memories were erased."

Ash and Misty froze.

Memory erasure—

Only one kind of Pokémon could do that.

A Psychic-type.

And the only Psychic-type they could've encountered during the storm was—

Mewtwo.

So what happened next?

Footage —

When Officer Jenny and Boga let their guard down—

Dozens of Trainers suddenly rushed out.

Ash and his friends followed.

Pokémon were released.

Everyone used their own methods to reach New Island.

Ash shouted confidently:

"I'm a Pokémon Trainer!

The future world's greatest Pokémon Master!

How could I fear a little wind and rain?!"

"Well said," someone replied.

"But… do you have a Pokémon that can get you there?"

"…Uh…"

Ash thought about his Water-types.

He had Squirtle.

That was it.

Squirtle carrying him across an ocean?

…Yeah, no.

"HAHAHA—this is too good!"

"Heroic declaration one second, instant defeat the next!"

"So Ash really doesn't have a proper sea-travel Pokémon?"

"If Squirtle evolves into Blastoise, maybe?"

"But Squirtle's already adorable enough!"

"That's true…"

The audience burst into laughter.

The contrast was devastating.

And then—

The real protagonists appeared.

Footage —

Two people wearing Roman-style helmets and outfits

rowed a small wooden boat toward Ash.

"Young man," one of them said theatrically,

"It seems you're in trouble."

"In these special circumstances,

we'd be happy to give you a free ride~"

Ash and his friends were overjoyed.

They boarded without hesitation.

The boat drifted away into the storm.

[Lance]: "…Those two."

[Diantha]: "It's Team Rocket!

You can't fool me—I'm a professional at disguises!"

As a world-class actress,

Diantha recognized disguises instantly.

[Cynthia]: "Honestly, you don't even need to look at them.

Who else would put a Meowth figure on the bow of their boat?"

Everyone looked closer.

Sure enough—

A Meowth wearing a metal helmet

was mounted proudly on the front of the boat.

Team Rocket, once again.

Helping Ash at the worst possible moment.

Tears were shed.

But—

Could that tiny wooden boat really survive the storm?

The footage answered immediately.

No.

Footage —

They hadn't traveled even one-third of the distance

when a colossal wave flipped the boat.

Team Rocket revealed themselves mid-crisis.

But before they could finish their catchphrase—

Another wave struck.

The boat shattered.

All five were hurled into the raging sea.

In a storm like this—

Falling into the ocean without a Water-type Pokémon

was almost certain death.

The audience's hearts leapt into their throats.

Ash truly had a talent

for finding life-threatening situations everywhere he went.

Ash's mother nearly collapsed.

Even knowing Ash survived—

Watching it still felt like cliff-edge dancing.

One slip—

And it would all be over.

"Ash... why didn't you tell me you were doing something so dangerous?!"

"I… I don't remember!"

Ash wore a face of pure innocence.

In truth, even if he did remember, he had no intention of telling Delia. It wasn't just about sparing his mother from worry; he liked to think of himself as a young man now—and a man doesn't need to run to his mother for every little thing.

On the Screen:

After plunging into the churning depths of the ocean, Misty released her only available Water-type Pokémon: Staryu!

(Starmie, Goldeen, and Horsea had been left back at the Cerulean Gym. As for Psyduck… well, are you really talking about the duck that can't even swim?)

With Staryu's help, Misty managed to break the surface—but the sea remained a chaotic nightmare of surging peaks and troughs.

Surrounded by the crushing weight of the ocean, she was like a piece of driftwood caught in a gale—utterly helpless against the current.

Brock, having no Water-types of his own, was being tossed mercilessly by the waves until Staryu glided over to provide him a much-needed anchor.

But a question hung in the air.

Where was Ash?

"Where is he?!" Misty cried out."Go! Search below!"

Staryu dove, pulling the two of them beneath the roiling surface.

There, deep in the blue, they found him.

Ash was kicking desperately toward the light, clutching Squirtle in his arms, while Pikachu held on for dear life to the back of his shirt.

(Togepi, meanwhile, was tucked safely inside Misty's bag.)

The moment Misty saw him, she reached out.

Without a second's hesitation, Ash gripped her hand.

(Screenshot: A close-up of their hands locking together.)

Drawing strength from their two Water-type Pokémon, the three of them fought their way through the depths.

After a harrowing journey fraught with near-disaster, they finally clawed their way onto the shores of New Island—and the gates of Pokémon Castle.

Inside the fortress, three other Trainers were already waiting for the "host" to arrive.

There was Neesha, who had crossed the storm on the back of her Pidgeot.

Fergus, who had braved the tides atop his Gyarados.

And Corey, who had navigated the waves with his Blastoise.

Out of all the Trainers who had attempted the crossing, only these three—and Ash's group—had reached New Island.

In that moment, the audience began to understand.

Mewtwo hadn't just created the storm for chaos—it was a trial.

A brutal filter designed to weed out the weak and leave only the strongest Trainers standing.

This was the final selection.

After a brief exchange between the survivors, the "Maiden" of the castle entered to introduce her master:

The world's strongest Pokémon. And its most powerful Trainer—Mewtwo.

Mewtwo's appearance sent a shockwave through the room.

Fergus, unable to contain his disbelief, slammed his hand on the table and roared:

"Don't give me that! A Pokémon can't be a Trainer!"

He glared at the creature.

"And what kind of Pokémon are you anyway? I've never seen anything like you! What gives you the right to call yourself the strongest?"

Is that so?

My rules... are mine to dictate.

The voice didn't come from the air—but from within their own minds.

A chill ran down their spines.

They were facing a Psychic-type of terrifying intelligence.

Without warning, Mewtwo raised its right hand.

A shimmering blue aura enveloped its palm.

Suddenly, Fergus was yanked off his feet by an invisible force—suspended in mid-air before being violently hurled across the room.

He crashed into a small pool, landing unceremoniously next to his Gyarados.

It was Confusion—executed with frightening ease.

Soaking wet and humiliated, Fergus scrambled out of the water and screamed a command:

"Gyarados! Hyper Beam!"

A terrifying orb of energy condensed in Gyarados's maw.

A golden pillar of light erupted—the sheer friction of the blast kicking up a heatwave that scorched the surrounding air.

It was a move meant to end the fight instantly.

Yet, facing the devastating Hyper Beam, Mewtwo merely flicked its wrist.

The beam didn't just stop.

It reflected.

The massive surge of energy turned back on its creator, slamming into Gyarados with its own amplified power.

The Great Serpent Pokémon was knocked out instantly.

The remaining Trainers watched in stunned silence.

Their hearts sank as they realized the sheer scale of the power they were up against.
