Chapter 4 - Morax’s Territory

With the experience Morax had passed on to him, Zayn could finally begin attempting flight using his divine power.

At first, his movements were clumsy and awkward.

Morax, however, watched from the side with clear interest.

Interesting demon god +1.

Zayn could feel the flow of his divine power—his "true body"—resting within his chest.

It was that pale-blue hexagonal crystal he had bought online, now undeniably real.

He called it his Manifestation Crystal.

Drawing power from the crystal and guiding it according to Morax's instructions, Zayn practiced carefully.

"I-I think I'm flying!"

He looked down excitedly.

His feet were already off the ground.

Of course, this was only the most basic level of flight.

The advanced kind was like Morax's—turning into a streak of golden light and shooting across the sky like a five-star pull.

"Heh…!"

"Mm. Continue," Morax replied.

This newborn demon god was truly intriguing.

It had been a long time since he'd met someone this amusing.

Morax didn't understand the full details of the Manifestation Authority, but the fact that a demon god lacked basic instincts truly caught his interest.

Perhaps something had gone wrong during his "birth."

Zayn nodded and continued experimenting with his power.

By the time night fell, he had finally mastered turning into a streak of white light and flying swiftly.

Morax waited patiently for this moment.

"Morax! I've learned it! Now I can go visit your territory!"

Zayn's voice was eager.

Morax's territory should not yet be what would one day become Liyue Harbor—

but Zayn didn't know the specifics.

He would understand once they arrived.

Morax nodded.

"Since you're ready, then let us depart.

You have only just learned to fly, so I will slow my speed for you."

"Thank you!" Zayn said.

A golden beam and a white beam shot into the sky, and under Morax's lead, they flew an unknown distance.

Eventually, Zayn found himself above a human settlement.

This must be Morax's domain—

and the people living here were those who followed and trusted him.

Demon gods loved humanity, though each loved differently.

"This is my territory," Morax said.

"Those mortals are my people. Come, I'll introduce you."

The two flew downward toward the settlement.

From above, the village was small—perhaps one or two thousand people.

All the homes were thatched huts, simple and primitive.

But in such a dangerous world, to have a powerful demon god protecting them—

to live without fear of monsters or other gods—

was already a tremendous blessing.

"It's Lord Geo!"

"Lord Geo has returned!"

"Who is that youth beside him? A friend of Lord Morax?"

"Welcome back, Lord Geo!"

As Morax and Zayn flew over the village, people immediately stopped their work and gathered below, faces bright with smiles and respect.

Zayn did not sense fear or dread—proof that Morax treated his people kindly.

Morax nodded in greeting.

"Mm. I have returned from an immortal visit.

This is my friend—the Demon God of Manifestation, Zenos."

The moment the people heard this—

A demon god.

And Morax's friend.

They immediately bowed deeply toward Zayn.

"Lord Zenos!"

Zayn panicked a little.

This was his first time seeing such a scene.

And Morax…

was definitely watching him with a faintly amused expression.

"Uh… no need to do that.

Since this is our first meeting, how about I give you all a small gift?"

He had no idea what one was supposed to do in such situations.

But a first-meeting gift should be fine… right?

The villagers were startled but excited.

A god's gift was no small matter.

Food was scarce in this age.

Morax protected his people from danger but did not provide food—they relied on hunting and gathering to survive.

Zayn stepped forward and activated his Manifestation Authority.

His origin was damaged, but he still had enough power as long as he didn't overexert himself.

A line of white light appeared before the crowd, slowly solidifying—

Until it formed a long, meter-wide loaf of bread.

A proper French baguette—

long, hard, edible, and technically also usable as a club.

For the people of this era, such food was a rare delicacy.

"This is called bread," Zayn explained.

"A type of food. Please, enjoy."

Hard and long…

And edible?

If a god said so, then it must be.

The villagers immediately expressed their gratitude.

"Thank you, Lord Zenos!"

Zayn offered a sheepish smile, then looked toward Morax.

"I thank you as well, on behalf of my people," Morax said.

"My dwelling is over there. Let us continue this discussion inside."

Zayn nodded eagerly.

Morax, meanwhile, had already understood the essence of Zayn's authority.

He could create objects out of nothing.

A powerful power indeed.

And looking at Zayn's newly formed body…

Morax could sense it was strong.

He finally understood why the boy had injured his origin.
