Chapter 10 - Elemental Control: Dendro

Lin Feng had planned to stroll around and enjoy the good weather, but something kept tugging at him from deep within — faint yet unmistakable.

Following that subtle pull through the winding paths, he soon spotted…

Tighnari crouched next to the Statue of The Seven, happily picking mushrooms.

No. Not that.

Dragging his eyes away from the mushroom-obsessed ranger, Lin Feng finally focused on the statue before him — a sight more familiar than anything else from the game.

A simple pale-gray base, soft blue motes drifting around it, and above, a small, blurred divine visage holding a radiant orb.

—Not broken. So this world really doesn't have Oculi for me to suffer over.

Lin Feng felt genuinely thankful.

"Can I touch the Statue of The Seven?" he asked Tighnari, who was still inspecting a strange fungus with great enthusiasm.

"Hm? Of course. Cleaning and maintaining the statue is part of a ranger's job."

Tighnari put down his mushroom, puzzled.

"But touching it doesn't do anything special," he added.

"Legends say the statue lets one see the world's truth, but years of Akademiya research concluded it's nothing unusual."

"Its biggest trait is simply the dense elemental energy, which makes cleaning it a nightmare."

Tighnari sighed — clearly a man with experience.

"I see."

A little disappointed, Lin Feng still stepped up to the statue and placed his hand upon it.

Absolutely nothing happened.

As expected — not everyone can just touch a statue like the Traveler and unlock an element.

Lin Feng was about to give up, but then he remembered:

In the game, the UI said "Resonate with Element" to change elements.

It never said merely touching or approaching the statue was enough.

Reinvigorated, Lin Feng tried again.

Resonate… resonate…

He focused on the meaning of resonance.

Opening Elemental Sight, he immediately noticed something different — in the game the statue was grayish; here, in Elemental Sight, it glowed a deep, profound Dendro green.

Lin Feng's spirit lifted.

He emptied his thoughts and tried to sense the Dendro element around him.

In the dark space of consciousness, countless green motes floated.

Lin Feng tried to reach them with his mind, as always.

No response.

The motes brushed gently around him, affectionate yet… as if existing in a separate layer, unable to obey him.

He didn't give up.

He tried something new — treating the motes as small conscious entities, as children of nature… and attempted to speak to them.

Tighnari, watching Lin Feng close his eyes, was curious — though he didn't expect anything to happen. Every year, countless hopeful people touched the statues, praying to attract the attention of a god.

Every single one left disappointed.

Never had there been an exception.

But something was wrong today.

Tighnari felt the elemental concentration around him rising sharply — so sharply that he, a Vision holder, felt discomfort.

Thank goodness this place is remote — no residents or merchants nearby.

Tighnari retreated from the statue, both surprised and uneasy.

He watched with growing anticipation.

Around Lin Feng, grass and plants sprouted, grew, bloomed, and bore fruit at impossible speed.

The fruits twisted and enlarged under elemental pressure.

The sheer density of Dendro force formed a visible emerald stream of light around him.

For a moment, Tighnari felt a shock akin to standing before a god.

What an unbelievable child…

Could he be an adeptus from Liyue traveling incognito?

The thought crossed his mind.

Lin Feng felt… wonderful.

The green motes grew in number — more and more — and the cluster of elemental energy seemed to awaken a faint consciousness.

Weak, tiny, but undeniably there.

He attempted communication.

And it worked.

That sliver of awareness became a bridge between the two layers, allowing connection.

Unaware of the physical phenomenon outside, Lin Feng mentally issued a simple command—

"Come to me."

His perspective instantly rose, as if his consciousness had become a star in the sky.

From this vantage point, he watched—

Not only around him, but within plants, the forest, the soil, and the sky, all green motes flocked to him, forming a dreamlike river of Dendro light.

Countless motes hurried toward him as if competing to show affection.

???

This is what Elemental Affinity level 6 does?! That's insane!

Lin Feng doubted everything.

Little White, perched on his shoulder, yawned lazily.

Exaggerated as it looked, Lin Feng understood one thing clearly:

He had been acknowledged by the Dendro element.

Even without a Vision, he could now control Dendro freely.

Mission accomplished, Lin Feng was about to open his eyes—

—and noticed that his level, previously stuck with "Insufficient Conditions," now displayed Available for Enhancement.

Did I… shear some wool from the Dendro Archon without meaning to?

Feeling bold, Lin Feng decisively tapped the "Enhance Level" option.

His vision faded instantly.

Seeing the spectacular transformation of his panel, Lin Feng suddenly felt the urge to run across all seven nations and touch every statue.

But that was impossible — the real Teyvat was far too vast. Even walking one nation would take months, maybe years.

The biggest change was undoubtedly the massive level increase.

Lin Feng suspected this wasn't purely from his cheat system — obtaining elemental control must naturally strengthen the body as well.

Regardless, he finally had real combat ability.

Unfortunately, the newly unlocked Elemental Control · Dendro was temporarily unusable.

He wasn't near a statue anymore, and he doubted he could recreate that unique resonance state anytime soon.

Still, his Elemental Affinity rising from 6 to 7 was a great surprise.

It seemed the statue functioned like an elemental amplifier — dramatically boosting perception and even enabling communication with the elements.

…But wait.

Why was he able to use the Dendro Archon's statue?

Did this count as betrayal toward Lesser Lord Kusanali somehow?

The thought made him snort laugh despite himself.

As for the new traits that could be strengthened — he would deal with them later.

He couldn't spend his whole life fainting from upgrades.
