I didn't expect the Master of the North Gate to be so capable; his issuance of the Life and Death Decision caused a stir throughout Summit City.
The next morning, the chief called me to the office early, before my shift ended.
"You were too impulsive last night!" the chief said with a look of helplessness. "By doing this, how are we supposed to protect you? Not just you, even I don't dare offend the Master of the North Gate. You're doing the work of a beat cop while handling matters meant for international policing, do you know that?"
I was a bit displeased, "Did you know Old Martinez got beaten up?"
"Yes, I know," the chief replied, "but you need to handle the situation wisely. First, ask Old Martinez himself what he thinks. By doing this, you're putting him in a tough spot if he doesn't want trouble. What if someone seeks revenge on him later?"
"Who would dare?" I glared, "I'll tear them apart!"
