Chapter 65 - Public Order Incident

"You know what I want you to say?" Liu Ruyue's voice, tinged with a hint of disappointment, came from the other end of the phone, like a gentle feather carrying a heavy weight.

"I'm sorry." Sun Zhewen's voice was filled with helplessness, short and dry, like a lone gust of wind in the desert.

"Zhewen, you're so heartless," Liu Ruyue's voice cracked, the trembling ending a reverberation of her heartbreak, sounding especially poignant in the silent space.

"I'm sorry," Sun Zhewen apologized again, his voice even lower, as if weighed down by an invisible burden.

"Do you have anything you want to say to me?" Liu Ruyue still held a sliver of hope, her voice slightly rising, carrying the last tremor of anticipation.

"No," Sun Zhewen's answer was still brief, cold and decisive, like a ruthless sword, severing the last thread of hope in Liu Ruyue's heart.

"I won't bother you anymore," Liu Ruyue calmly hung up the phone, but Sun Zhewen could feel her disappointment, a deep, unspoken pain, like the cold wind of a cold night, pricking his heart.

Sun Zhewen held the phone, staring blankly at the ceiling, his heart a mix of emotions. His thoughts were like a tangled mess, impossible to untangle. Everything was back to square one, and he didn't know how to face this relationship, nor did he know where the future lay.

The phone suddenly rang, shattering his thoughts. Sun Zhewen took a deep breath and answered. Captain Liu's urgent voice came through the receiver: "Sun, there's a fight at Moonlit Night Bar in our jurisdiction during a patrol. The officers were injured while trying to stop it. What are your instructions?"

Sun Zhewen's eyes instantly sharpened. He said without hesitation, "Send the injured comrades to the hospital first. Control the people involved in the fight, and investigate who they are. If the bar is involved, inspect it directly and investigate if there are any other problems. I'll be right there."

"Understood," Captain Liu's voice was firm and resolute.

He had just finished a meeting this morning about a security rectification in the jurisdiction, and something had already happened tonight, which gave Sun Zhewen a headache. He quickly stood up, put on his coat, and drove swiftly towards the scene.

By the time he arrived, Captain Liu had already ordered the control of Moonlit Night Bar. Sun Zhewen strode into the bar and asked, "What's the situation?"

Captain Liu lowered his voice and said, "Sun, this involves drug dealing."

Sun Zhewen frowned even deeper and said, "Alright, tell me what happened."

Captain Liu reported in detail, "The person who was beaten is Wang San, a thug. He was peddling pills here, and the bar's security saw him and they started fighting. Mainly because Moonlit Night's security thought Wang San hadn't paid them, yet he was selling here. They thought beating him was pointless."

Sun Zhewen's face was grim. He asked, "Have you guys inspected the bar?"

Captain Liu replied, "We're still in the process."

At that moment, an officer ran over, shouting, "Captain Liu, come to the office! There's a large amount of drugs here."

Sun Zhewen and Captain Liu immediately tensed up and followed the officer to the office. They saw a large bag of pills on the table, along with some ice. A fat man was being held in the corner. Sun Zhewen sternly said, "Tell us what's going on."

An officer said, "Director Sun, when we searched this office, this fat man was about to flush these things down the toilet. We stopped him. He tried to escape, but we caught him."

Sun Zhewen turned to the fat man and asked, "Are these yours?"

"No, no." The fat man's face was ashen, and he was sweating profusely, shaking his head frantically.

"If they aren't yours, why were they found in your office?" Sun Zhewen's eyes were like a hawk's, staring intently at the fat man.

"It really wasn't mine. I don't know where it came from," the fat man argued.

"Heh, not yours? Then why were you trying to destroy it?" Sun Zhewen sneered.

"Officer, I was wrong. I shouldn't have been greedy for a little money. Boss Shang put these here and told me to look after them. He gives me fifty thousand yuan a month," the fat man finally caved under the pressure and began to confess.

"Boss Shang? Where is he?" Sun Zhewen pressed.

"Sun, we're still looking for him," Captain Liu said.

Sun Zhewen stared at the fat man and said seriously, "Tell us everything you know. It doesn't matter if you don't. These things won't get you the death penalty, but they can certainly ensure you spend your old age in jail."

"Officer, it really has nothing to do with me," the fat man wailed, his face a mask of misery.

"Then just talk!" Sun Zhewen barked.

"I said, Boss Shang told me to put the stuff here, so it would be convenient for Liu Jun to pick it up," the fat man stammered.

"Who is Liu Jun?" Sun Zhewen asked.

"He's our security captain," the fat man replied.

"Have you got him?" Sun Zhewen looked at Captain Liu.

Captain Liu said, "Yes. Shall I bring him over?"

"Yes," Sun Zhewen nodded.

After Liu Jun was brought over, Sun Zhewen asked, "Confess! I think you should know what these quantities mean, right?"

"It's Boss Shang's goods, I was just helping him distribute them," Liu Jun said, his voice barely a whisper.

Captain Liu's phone suddenly rang. He answered it, his expression turning a bit grim. He said to Sun Zhewen, "Director Sun, Deputy Director Wang from the County Bureau wants us to stand down. They say we're disrupting the city's stability."

Sun Zhewen frowned, and said firmly, "Keep investigating. We've already found drugs. How can we just let it go?"

"Yes, sir!" Captain Liu replied.

"Haven't found Boss Shang yet?" Sun Zhewen asked.

"No. Not here, and not at his home either," Captain Liu answered.

At this moment, Shang Xiaofei was soaking in a hot spring with Deputy Director Wang. Shang Xiaofei said ingratiatingly, "Director Wang, look, this whole thing blew up over a little fight. It's not worth it. The Provincial Department is going to come down here again, and at this critical moment, we have this mess."

"Xiaofei, I just told Captain Liu to call off the operation. You can relax, everything's fine," Deputy Director Wang reassured him.

"If Director Wang says so, then I'm definitely relieved," Shang Xiaofei said with a face full of smiles.

"Xiaofei, did you get the arrangements sorted for tonight like you said?" Deputy Director Wang's eyes flashed with anticipation.

"Everything's arranged. The twin beauties, and they're still virgins. You can be the groom tonight, haha," Shang Xiaofei said obsequiously.

"Then I won't keep you company. Will you be staying for more fun?" Deputy Director Wang laughed as he stood up.

"Haha, I have partners too," Shang Xiaofei chuckled wickedly.

"Alright, I'll join in the fun tonight too," Deputy Director Wang laughed heartily and left.
