Chapter 128 - This Is My Escape Route!

When Myotismon was just a DemiDevimon, bullied and witnessing the deaths of countless Digimon, he once believed that a Digimon's life was tragic, with no hope of transcendence. That was until he met the four strongest beings in the Digital World, the Dark Masters: Piedmon, Machinedramon, MetalSeadramon, and Puppetmon.

Those four had evolved to the Mega level, possessing power he could hardly believe. They left a deep, indelible mark on his young heart. He finally realized the key to transcendence: evolving into a Mega-level Digimon and becoming the sovereign of the Digital World.

Anything less than a Mega was merely an ant.

Evolution became his life's pursuit. He spent years scheming and climbing the ladder—Champion, then Ultimate. Now, he was only a hair's breadth away from the legendary Mega level.

But that gap had blocked him for many years until a new hope appeared. With the Dark Masters gone, he had tasted the peak of power and prepared for years to implement his plan. How could he allow himself to fall here, at the hands of some nameless nobody?

"I refuse to accept this! I refuse!"

Myotismon gripped Aomori's hand holding the hilt, and his dark energy erupted, the shockwave pushing Aomori and Absol back. He pulled Ryuko out, clutched it, and flew into the sky.

Aomori stabilized himself and shouted, "Pidgeot!"

"Piijo!" Pidgeot, waiting outside, saw Myotismon emerge from the mist and immediately used Gust, Whirlwind, and Sky Attack to block him.

"Move!" Anxious, Myotismon no longer held back his stamina. He spammed skills like Grisly Wing, Nightmare Claw, and Crimson Lightning as if they cost nothing.

Pidgeot dodged left and right. The power gap between it and Myotismon was significant, and it was soon suppressed. Fortunately, it was skilled in aerial combat, using Substitute to confuse its enemy and dodging nimbly to stay safe for the time being.

Watching from the ground, Aomori worried for Pidgeot and called on Darkrai. "Darkrai, you go too! Be careful not to use Dark-type moves." He feared Myotismon might exploit the dark energy.

Darkrai emerged from Aomori's armor, flew into the air, caught up with Myotismon, and joined Pidgeot in blocking the escape.

"Curse you! You pests are so annoying! I am destined to become the God of Digimon. Die, all of you!" Blocked once again, Myotismon flew into a rage.

"Damn! I really need to practice my flying more," Aomori muttered. While his telekinesis could lift him, it wasn't enough to let him move as freely as Pidgeot or Darkrai. After watching for a moment, he noticed a pattern. He called for Absol and left.

Secretly changing direction, Myotismon fought as he fled, gradually nearing the castle. After using a skill to force Pidgeot and Darkrai back, he slipped through a small window and into the castle.

However, once inside, Myotismon found an uninvited guest waiting for him.

"Sorry, but I've already figured out your escape route!"

Before Myotismon could react, Aomori stepped forward. Countless fist shadows crackled with lightning, slamming mercilessly into him.

"Light Breathing: Exploding Heart Release Fist! Ora ora ora ora!"

After landing a hundred punches, Aomori stopped and stood still. The mangled Myotismon reached out as if to grab something, but his hand found only air. Starting from his arms, his entire body turned into digital fragments and vanished in the wind, leaving only a black crystal behind.

The great boss, Myotismon, was dead.

"It should be over now."

Not even wanting the digital fragments, Aomori picked up Ryuko and the strange black crystal. After walking a few steps, he turned back. "Better disinfect the place."

He activated Light Breathing at full power. His entire body radiated a holy light so bright he looked like a giant lightbulb, filling the entire castle. A faint scream echoed in the void. The black crystal in his hand emitted dark mist to resist the holy light.

"Oh?" Aomori looked at it with interest. It seemed to be the core formed from the concentrated dark energy within Myotismon. Darkrai popped his head out, staring at the crystal hungrily.

"You want to eat it?"

Darkrai nodded and spoke into Aomori's mind, "Very pure Dark-type energy. I haven't had this in a long time."

Back in the One Punch Man world, Aomori would let it absorb dark energy occasionally, but human malice didn't suit Darkrai's palate; it always left with a frown and returned looking gloomy. No wonder it was salivating at this pure energy crystal.

But, No! The image of Myotismon constantly "doing sit-ups" in his coffin gave the young Aomori bad memories. He firmly refused Darkrai's request.

"No. This has a virus; it's dirty and will give you an upset stomach."

"Just one bite!" Darkrai looked pathetic.

"I said no!" In front of Darkrai, Aomori ramped up his Light Breathing.

The holy light and the evil power clashed violently; they were mortal enemies. Initially, the black crystal held the upper hand, but under Aomori's constant "reinforcements," it eventually crumbled. Long after, the black crystal was reduced to ash under Darkrai's sorrowful gaze.

"There, there. I promise I'll get you a full meal later."

Rumor had it there was a "Dark Area" in the Digital World; there should be plenty of pure dark energy there.

Having dealt with Myotismon's remains, Aomori stopped his breathing technique and looked out the window. With Myotismon dead, the mist was gone, but the thick smoke from the fire still obscured the distant view.

"Absol, use Rain Dance."

"Sol!" Absol jumped out the window and activated the skill.

Dark clouds gathered immediately, and a heavy rain fell, quickly dousing the forest fires. When Absol stopped the rain, the clouds vanished, and a bright sun appeared, dispelling the gloom that had lingered over this place for years. In the distance, a beautiful seven-colored rainbow arched across the sky.

As he admired the view, Aomori checked his system. He had just completed the first main quest and received a Quest Chest. Inside was a pair of goggles.

[Name: Goggles (Blue)]

[Description: A unique item for the 'Child of Destiny' in the Digital World. Wearing it while in the Digital World increases Luck.]

[Remark: "I am the protagonist!"]

"What the...?" It looked unreliable, but coming from the system, the quality should be trustworthy. Aomori put the goggles on and hid them from view. He didn't feel any immediate change.

After a while, the battle on the other side ended as well.

"Hey! Did we win?!" SuperStarmon and his group arrived at the castle, escorting several captured Digimon, and shouted up to Aomori.

Aomori gave them a thumbs up, called his partners, and turned toward the depths of the castle.

"Let's go."

It was time to collect the loot.
