Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 Medical Career Offer:

The First Affiliated Hospital of Donghai Medical University.

At the hospital entrance, people came and went, cars came and went. If it weren't for the eye-catching sign, one might mistake it for a shopping mall entrance.

In fact, in a first-tier city like Donghai, hospitals often have even higher foot traffic than shopping malls.

Wu Xiaofu entered the hospital lobby with mixed feelings.

"Excuse me, which floor is the medical affairs department on?"

The information desk was crowded with people, and the young woman inside was overwhelmed with work. However, Wu Xiaofu's loud voice immediately caught the attention of the information desk staff.

The young woman closest to Wu Xiaofu looked at him warily, her eyes showing some helplessness.

"Sir, complaining isn't the best way to solve problems. If you have something to say, you can tell me first. If I can't resolve it, I can report it to our director. Please calm down and don't be anxious."

  Anxious?

Wu Xiaofu was somewhat surprised. Did he look anxious? He immediately realized the triage girl had probably misunderstood him. She was incredibly perceptive, contacting the complaints department as soon as she heard it was the medical affairs office.

"Sister, you've misunderstood. I'm here to register."

  Whew!

The triage girl breathed a sigh of relief, glaring at Wu Xiaofu as if to say he'd made things worse by not explaining beforehand.

"Turn left and take the elevator to the seventh floor."

Wu Xiaofu, watching the busy triage girl, could only thank her and head towards the seventh floor. It wasn't all bad; if it weren't for the misunderstanding, she might not have bothered with him.

It took him over twenty minutes to queue for the elevator to the seventh floor. And, well, he didn't manage to squeeze onto the elevator; he had to climb the stairs.

There weren't many people on the seventh floor. Looking at the medical affairs office so close by, even with that memory, Wu Xiaofu felt a surge of excitement.

This is one of the top hospitals in China! In that memory, Wu Xiaofu, although already a chief physician, had spent his entire career working in a top-tier hospital in a small fourth- or fifth-tier city. His biggest dream was to work in such a prestigious hospital.

Two months ago, Wu Xiaofu had a dream. In the dream, he seemed to be living a long life as another person—the life of a chief physician in a top-tier hospital in a small fourth- or fifth-tier city. It was rich and realistic. After waking up, Wu Xiaofu realized that the person's life seemed deeply imprinted in his mind, even his muscle memory seemed to have been formed.

Fusion! Yes, in Wu Xiaofu's view, this was like the memory fusion described in some stories, even more advanced.

What did it mean for a medical graduate student about to graduate to suddenly have such an extraordinary experience? Wu Xiaofu was filled with excitement. He knew how important experience was for a doctor. Having decades of extra medical experience, even as a chief physician in a small hospital, was enough to bring about a dramatic change in him, putting him far ahead of his peers.

However, even with this serendipitous encounter, he still needed to face the realities of life.

Medical advancements have led to increasingly higher demands on doctors. Even in his hometown in the northern region, a relatively underdeveloped area, doctors in fourth- or fifth-tier cities typically require at least a master's degree. This is even more true in a first-tier city like Donghai, where even PhDs are highly selective, making the entry requirements ridiculously high.

Wu Xiaofu's arrival here today was entirely by chance.

Before this unexpected encounter, Wu Xiaofu was preparing his graduation thesis while searching for a suitable job.

Finding work was difficult. Wu Xiaofu, after all, was a graduate student with decades of clinical experience and desperately wanted to stay in the capital city of the northern region and work in a top-tier hospital. Unfortunately, full-time positions were extremely scarce, and even his advisor's help was limited. Just as Wu Xiaofu was considering whether to take a contract job or a lower-level position,

an online audition notice caught his eye.

The program was called "Medical Path Offer."

The theme was: medical students compete for internships to showcase their abilities and vie for permanent positions.

The program was hosted by Donghai TV, with the First Affiliated Hospital of Donghai Medical University as a partner. Wu Xiaofu submitted his resume on a whim, knowing that even a simple internship opportunity on such a program would attract a huge number of medical students, including many graduates from prestigious universities, and probably a lot of PhDs.

However, to Wu Xiaofu's surprise, his resume passed the initial screening.

What else could he do but give it a shot? This was an opportunity he might never have again in his life—an opportunity to enter the First Affiliated Hospital of Donghai Medical University! Even PhD students wouldn't dare dream of it, let alone a mere master's student like himself.   Looking for someone in El Kef todayWilling to lie about how we met  Two months after registering for university, Wu Xiaofu stopped thinking about finding a job and began focusing on preparing his graduation thesis.

Having absorbed that memory, Wu Xiaofu looked back at his previous thesis and found it lacking in merit. He immediately scrapped it and rewrote it. With the help of that memory, Wu Xiaofu quickly found his ideas, and the result was surprisingly good. His thesis was appreciated by his supervisor and even submitted to the university president and dean.

In the end, Wu Xiaofu not only successfully passed his graduation defense but also received the honor of being the best graduate of the North District Medical University Graduate School, earning a national scholarship.

Wu Xiaofu later submitted his thesis to a national journal, believing that there would be some surprises after it passed the review.

After graduating successfully, Wu Xiaofu traveled a long distance to the First Affiliated Hospital of Donghai University.

"Hey, classmate, are you also here to take the exam?"

A voice sounded from behind Wu Xiaofu. He turned around and saw a man in a blue suit, about ten centimeters shorter than him, with a neat appearance and a lively voice, standing in front of him.

Based on Wu Xiaofu's initial assessment, this person was likely also there to take the exam, just like him.

His eyes held a distinctive quality, a characteristic of students fresh out of school.

Passing the initial resume screening was only the first step. Around a hundred students would pass the online screening, but only eight would be chosen as interns. The

first step, a written test, would eliminate thirty, followed by interviews to narrow down the remaining eight.

"Hello, classmate, my name is Wu Xiaofu."

Hearing Wu Xiaofu's words, the student became even happier. "Xiaofu means peace, that's a good name! My name is Yu Xiaozhe, from Donghai."

Upon hearing this, Wu Xiaofu's lips twitched. Was his name really that easy to understand? Well, that's exactly what his father meant.

However, encountering a local so soon after arriving was a bad omen.

"Nice to meet you. You'll have to be our tour guide when we're playing around here."

"No problem, it's almost time, let's go quickly."

The door to the medical affairs office wasn't closed. Two people were working inside. One was older, a woman in her forties, very neat and tidy. A student was standing next to her, presumably also there to take the exam, submitting her materials.

Wu Xiaofu and Yu Xiaozhe knocked on the door and entered.

"Hello, teacher, we're here to take the exam. My name is Wu Xiaofu (Yu Xiaozhe)."

The teacher looked at the two of them and gave them a professional smile. "Okay, my name is Li Ran, I'm the teacher in the medical affairs office responsible for handling your exam. Please give me your materials first."

Just then, the teacher finished and turned to look at Wu Xiaofu and Yu Xiaozhe, giving them a sweet smile that immediately made Yu Xiaozhe's lips curl into a smile.

To be honest, this girl was incredibly beautiful. Wu Xiaofu compared her to the girls he'd seen at school, and it seemed none could compare to her.

High heels, casual pants, a white shirt—perfect proportions, a sweet and charming appearance, and long, flowing hair styled in a single braid, looking very refreshing.

It seems everyone is quite thoughtful, choosing this kind of attire favored by medical teachers in order to make a good first impression.

"Hello, both of you, my name is Qu Ying. Nice to meet you."

After reviewing the materials, Wu Xiaofu arrived at the conference room and found it already quite full.

Yu Xiaozhe, whose age was roughly the same as Wu Xiaofu's, found an empty seat and prepared to sit down. However, Yu Xiaozhe immediately spotted Qu Ying and ran over to her. Wu Xiaofu, being a loyal friend, reluctantly squeezed past Yu Xiaozhe and sat between the two.

Yu Xiaozhe gave Wu Xiaofu a "you're such a jerk" look before reluctantly sitting down.
