Chapter 40 - Chapter 40

Returning home, all four took a cool shower and collapsed into bed. Ichiro and Kenshin were physically exhausted; Third and Fourth were mentally drained. It was their first real battle where their father nearly died, leaving a deep mark on their young minds. Each vowed to train harder so next time, if Ichiro wasn't there, they could protect Father and be his reliable support.

Kenshin felt no particular remorse for killing Kaito—he knew it was necessary, at minimum because Kaito was the only one who knew his face.

Ichiro had severely depleted his chakra and needed rest. After showering he dragged himself to bed and instantly fell asleep, skipping dinner.

Aya and Natsumi were shocked and, abandoning everything, rushed to the bedroom to question Kenshin. He briefly recounted the events, mentioning Kaito's death but not how he died.

"The main thing is that you're all safe!" Aya said. Kaito's death didn't upset her, but the possibility of losing another family member terrified her. Kenshin pulled her onto the bed and hugged her.

Natsumi took the story calmly—she had participated in similar battles and they didn't scare her. She was simply glad Kenshin and the children were safe, though she lectured him to stop getting into trouble.

Kenshin already understood without her scolding that even the weakest Chunin would have wiped them out. Even Ichiro with one tomoe was no match for a Chunin. Kenshin estimated Ichiro would need at least two tomoe or chakra quality 3 to face one.

After resting an hour, Kenshin and his two sons were called to family dinner. Aya didn't wake Ichiro, only stroked his hair, marveling at how fast her baby she once held had grown into a strong shinobi.

At dinner Kenshin briefly discussed the incident with his sons, praised their valor, and again urged harder training. After dinner everyone went to their rooms and soon slept.

Kenshin had planned to impregnate both wives that evening, but after such a hard day he had no energy. Moreover, Fifth and Sixth were newly born and needed their mothers, so he postponed the vitally important task until tomorrow and slept.

On day 106 Kenshin spent planting blue sage. He had read the purchased care book and knew the required conditions, so he only needed to adjust formations and wait about ten days for the first harvest.

Ichiro, not fully recovered from yesterday's chakra depletion, devoted the day to teaching his younger brothers. He sparred with them and explained how to properly concentrate chakra in the feet to stick to walls or water.

Third and Fourth were talented students and progressed visibly. By evening Third could stay on a wall for half a second—full mastery was a matter of days.

In the evening after dinner Aya and Natsumi put the children to bed in the neighboring room and fell into the clutches of their insatiable Kenshin. That night the trio of tireless lovers made up for the entire last week before birth when the heavily pregnant girls couldn't satisfy their man.

After both girls fell asleep exhausted, Kenshin focused on his status and allocated the skill point from level 7 into Formation Creation, raising it to level 4, then tiredly went to sleep.

Waking the next morning, Kenshin discovered he knew a bit more about formations than before. He learned ways to modify and improve old formations. The most important new knowledge, in his opinion, were Animal Control Formation and Energy Suppression Formation.

The Animal Control Formation was applied to a special collar or animal hide, making the creature completely obedient and somewhat controllable within its intelligence limits.

The Energy Suppression Formation was usually applied to shackles or special cuffs for capturing mages. Kenshin loved this one but needed to adapt it for chakra. Fortunately, at his current knowledge level he could modify formations and theoretically create entirely new unique ones.

The inability to add strong kunoichi to his harem without force had long bothered Kenshin. He had no desire to have his sons subdue powerful women and then rape them bound.

Inspired by the new knowledge, after breakfast Kenshin dove into rethinking and trying to make the formation recognize chakra instead of magic—he knew exactly which node was responsible.

All day he repeatedly called Ichiro or Natsumi, asked them to release chakra into the right spot on the formation, then plunged back into work, redrawing and erasing lines, trying to achieve any result.

The following days were copies of the previous. The older sons trained, the younger ones grew. Kenshin worked nonstop on improving the formation and had no time for anything else. Aya and Natsumi handled household chores as usual and often relaxed in the pool, where Kenshin occasionally joined them for several hours of reckless sex and relaxation.

On day 108 Fourth also learned to stay on a wall for half a second; the two brothers constantly jumped on nearby mountain surfaces, honing their skill.

On day 109 after lunch Kenshin sat drawing formations on the ground as usual when he heard Ichiro's voice through telepathy: "Father, come to the gym—you have to see this!"

Dropping everything, Kenshin ran to the gym. Entering, he immediately saw Ichiro and Third and Fourth beside him; they all started talking at once:

"Father, you have to see this!" Third said, barely containing his excitement.

"Yes, Father, it's unbelievable!" Fourth confirmed.

"What do I have to see?" Kenshin asked with interest, noticing nothing unusual.

"Here, Father—watch closely!" Ichiro said and threw a shuriken at the wooden dummy at the far end of the room.

Kenshin focused his eyes, trying not to miss anything, and his mouth fell open. The shuriken vanished about a meter before the dummy and embedded in its head.

"Holy shit! Ichiro, can you control it?" Kenshin asked, unable to hide his shock.

"Not always, but with training I think I can improve every throw and increase the distance!" Ichiro said proudly.

Kenshin immediately began all kinds of tests to understand the ability's nature and potential. They discovered it wasn't simple acceleration but actual "teleportation." Kenshin and his sons stretched dozens of threads 50 cm from the dummy's "face"; after Ichiro's throw the threads remained intact but the face was ruined.

There were downsides: Ichiro couldn't teleport the shuriken to a spot he couldn't see. When Kenshin hung a long cloth in front of the dummy, the ability stopped working—the shuriken simply tore through the fabric.

Even with that limitation the ability was extraordinarily strong and dangerous. After Natsumi saw Ichiro's throw, she was just as shocked as Kenshin and declared that not every Chunin could dodge such an attack.
