Chapter 53 - Chapter 53 — The Ruler Awakens

High above, in a quiet hospital in Japan, Yuna gripped the phone tightly, eyes glued to the broadcast. Her heart pounded like a war drum.

"Leo… what's happening…?" she whispered.

Panic swept over her like a storm. The arena on the screen shook violently. Dust rose in impossible waves. The force radiating from the fighters distorted the image.

Her fingers trembled. She could see the outline of Kaito Jin, laughing maniacally, striking with devastating force, while Leo struggled to regain footing after each blow.

Meanwhile, in another room, Lily stirred. The faint sound of the television reached her ears. Slowly, her eyelids fluttered open.

"Leo…?" she whispered weakly.

Her voice was barely audible, a mix of pain and hope. She tried to sit up, but a sharp pang from her stomach reminded her of the life she carried. Her hand instinctively went to her abdomen, and she winced.

Yuna, seeing Lily open her eyes, panicked even more.

"Don't worry, Lily," Yuna said softly, hiding the truth. "Leo is in Nepal… just for a mission. He'll come back soon. You have to stay calm."

Without waiting for a reply, she turned off the TV. The last thing she wanted was for Lily to learn the truth now—her condition was too fragile. Any shock could worsen her state.

Back in the arena, the chaos of battle continued.

Leo hovered mid-air, his mind racing. Something gnawed at him from deep within.

Is my bloodline… in danger?

If I die here… will my child grow up without a father?

The thought weighed heavily. He clenched his fists.

Before he could dwell further, Kaito Jin's fist slammed into him again, sending him plummeting into the ground. The cratered arena groaned under the sheer weight of the impact. Kaito laughed, a sound that split the sky.

"Hahaha! Your power, your heart, it's all meaningless against me, Leo!" Kaito's voice carried the chill of an existence beyond humanity. "I am the Devil of the Multiverse now. You have no chance!"

Leo spat blood, wiping it from his lips, but his eyes burned brighter than ever. Ultra Instinct flared. His signature Spirit Best Blast energy crackled around him, illuminating the arena like twin suns.

Chen Wei, hovering above the battlefield, gathered the remnants of his power. Energy coalesced around his hands, a small fragment of the divine aura of his friend being absorbed and focused into a concentrated strike.

"Leo… I don't know what happened to you," Chen Wei muttered, his voice tense. "But the vengeance you're taking on innocent lives—this ends now."

Energy surged toward Leo. As it touched him, it merged with his own aura. He could feel his power magnifying, flowing like molten light through every fiber of his being.

The Devil of the Multiverse laughed again, maniacally, summoning wave after wave of spiritual attacks. The force radiated outward, shaking Kathmandu. Streets cracked. Buildings trembled. Civilians screamed, some wounded, some worse… casualties of a fight beyond mortal comprehension.

"Stop this! Stop this!" Leo shouted, the anguish in his voice echoing across the city.

Despite the pain, he slowly rose from the debris. Bracelets once tightly bound to his wrists and ankles shattered, falling to the ground in fragments.

His hair, once partially red and white, now blazed fully in brilliant dual colors. A single glowing ring appeared above his head. From his back, ethereal wings unfurled—white light edged with red, radiating authority, power, and responsibility.

"I… am the Ruler of the Multiverse," Leo whispered, voice calm yet carrying the weight of eternity.

Kaito Jin, watching this transformation, smirked—but something had shifted in his stance. His own appearance mirrored Leo's in darkness: horns more pronounced, shadowy wings, and eyes that seemed to pierce the essence of life itself. His demonic aura was now almost tangible, distorting reality around him.

"So… you awaken," Kaito said, his voice low but dripping with malice. "The so-called Ruler… let's see if you truly deserve the title."

The arena seemed to disappear beneath them. Air vibrated with the raw tension of two beings no longer bound by the laws of their world. Mountains trembled, light flickered across cities below, and every screen watching this broadcast captured the birth of a war beyond universes.

The world had just witnessed the dawn of the ultimate clash.

Author's Note

I know this chapter may feel confusing when it comes to understanding the characters' forms and power changes.

Don't worry—this is intentional.

In a future extra chapter, I will clearly explain:

The main character's forms

The villain's transformations

The friend's true potential

And which other martial artists in this world can or cannot achieve similar forms

That chapter will focus purely on power systems, forms, and limits—so readers can properly understand how this universe works.

Please be patient. Everything will be explained.

Before ending this chapter, I want to speak honestly as the writer—not through a character, but as myself.

Lately, I've been feeling very alone.

On top of that, my heart condition has been getting worse day by day. Some of you may have noticed similar emotions reflected earlier in The Letter I Never Sent: The Last Sunrise. That story wasn't fiction alone—it carried parts of me.

If something ever happens to me, I know only my family would truly grieve. I don't say this for sympathy—only honesty.

You may notice that sometimes I post chapters quickly, sometimes after weeks. And if there ever comes a time when no new chapter appears for a year or two… please understand—life doesn't always move in straight lines.

One thing I want to say clearly:

I am not trying to harm myself.

I am simply sharing how I feel, because writing is the only place where I can speak without pretending to be strong.

Thank you to everyone who reads, supports, or even silently follows this story.

Your presence matters more than you know.
