Veronica's POV
Everyone turned toward the voice, and I followed their gaze. Tony and Aarav were wheeling Leonardo toward us from the side.
"Is this really necessary? You're going to haul Veronica in for questioning over something this trivial?"
Leonardo faced down the officers.
Both cops knew who he was and replied, "Mr. Nelson, we're just following standard protocol."
"I don't give a damn about your protocol! But I won't stand by while someone gets framed right in front of me!" Leonardo's tone was ice-cold, and behind those sunglasses, his sharp features carried a menacing authority that made everyone step back.
I looked at him. Since he was jumping in to defend me, I'd let him play his hand and see how he planned to clear my name.
