Veronica's POV
"Yeah." Ryan gave a quick nod.
With Hunter's condition spiraling out of control, continuing our "inspection" wasn't an option anymore. We gathered our things, ready to make our exit, when I caught movement in my peripheral vision—a shadow cutting through the air.
My instincts kicked in just in time. I twisted away from the incoming threat and drove my heel backward, launching Hunter across the room. The man was completely unhinged, wild-eyed and erratic. In his deranged state, he snatched up a chair and hurled it straight at Ryan and me.
Ryan stepped in front of me, deflecting the chair with a sharp kick before pinning Hunter down effortlessly.
The crash brought Dorian and his team running. Their faces went white when they saw the chaos. "Dr. Cooper, are you hurt?" Dorian's voice was tight with concern.
"We're fine! This maniac just tried to take us out!" Ryan shot back.
Dorian barked orders in rapid-fire translation, "Move it! Get Hunter out of here, now!"
