Veronica's POV
Watching Liana march over to confront me, I folded my arms and let a cold smile play across my lips.
"Your brother landed in jail because of his own incompetence. VIG lost that project because you weren't good enough. And whoever I'm connected to? That's not your concern."
Rage flashed across Liana's features. She seemed to struggle for words, clearly at a loss for how to handle me. Finally, she exploded, "I don't give a damn what tricks you pull or whose strings you can tug, but I want you gone from here immediately!"
"And why exactly should I do that?" I shot back.
"Can't you see how out of place you are? Every man here is gawking at you! People might think you showed up just to flaunt yourself!" Liana hissed, jealousy dripping from every word.
"Me? Flaunt myself?" I arched an eyebrow. "What's wrong—scared I might overshadow you, the so-called 'one of Aurelia City's three beauties'?"
