Lachlan filled me in on what they'd discovered during their investigation. The coroner had finished the autopsy and found something lodged in the victim's throat.
"This was recovered from Adalind's mouth. Have a look," Lachlan said, passing me a photograph.
Even in the pavilion's weak lighting, I could make out the image clearly—it showed a distinctively crafted cufflink.
"A cufflink?" I questioned.
"Exactly. We believe this cufflink likely belongs to the murderer. Adalind must have swallowed it right before she died, giving us this lead," Lachlan confirmed.
"So if it's a cufflink, we're probably looking at a male suspect?" I reasoned.
"Very possible," Lachlan agreed.
I'd never encountered this particular style before and studied it intently. "The craftsmanship is distinctive—definitely custom work. I've never come across anything similar."
