"If you really want a position here, I could set you up in PR. How does that sound?"
"Not happening."
I saw right through Caspian's scheme. PR meant using my face to charm clients and investors—turning me into corporate eye candy.
Nice try.
Caspian paused, then offered, "What about marketing instead? Great experience there."
"Pass on that too."
"So what exactly do you want?"
"The design center."
"Design? You?" Caspian knew I'd studied it, had the same natural talent as my mother, though I never finished school. He considered this. "Alright, if that's what you want, I can start you as a design intern."
"That's insulting! If I'm working here, I want chief designer. Or design director at minimum."
Liana and Alonzo appeared in the doorway just then.
Hearing my demands, Liana lost it. "Dad, don't listen to her! I'm the chief designer now—she can't have my job! I won't allow it!"
