"I don't know about that. You might need to ask him yourself!" I replied with a grin, feeling quite satisfied with my strategy. I slipped my phone back into my pocket with deliberate casualness.
"I want you to take me to him now!" Veronica snapped, her frustration bubbling over.
"I'm hungry. Let's eat first," I said, already walking toward the restaurant without missing a beat.
"Hey..." Veronica had little choice but to trail after me as I stepped inside.
