Veronica's POV
I spotted the chandelier breaking loose just in time.
"Watch out!" I yelled.
Chaos erupted around me.
Screams filled the ballroom as guests whipped around to see the massive crystal chandelier crashing down toward Jill and Adrian.
Security guards by the entrance scrambled forward, but they were miles away.
Both men looked up instinctively. The chandelier was barely inches from crushing them. Neither had a prayer of moving fast enough.
I didn't think—I just moved.
Purple fabric flashed as I dove forward, shoving both men clear of the death trap.
CRASH!
Crystal exploded across the marble floor.
Razor-sharp shards flew everywhere, skittering and bouncing across the ground like deadly confetti.
The ballroom went dead silent except for the musical tinkling of settling glass.
Everyone stood frozen, staring at the wreckage in shock.
Jill's hands shook as he let out a ragged breath.
