Phoebe's POV
"Relax, I already took care of your leave," Harold murmured, his hand settling on my waist with a gentle squeeze.
Even through my clothes, his touch sent heat racing through me. I felt him knead my waist softly, unable to resist. "This border trip might drag on. I'll extend your leave until semester's end."
I stared at him, stunned.
Two whole months left in the semester. Only Harold would have the audacity to pull something like this.
Sure enough, when I called Brian to request leave until semester's end, he nearly exploded through the phone.
Just as he was about to unleash his fury, Harold snatched my phone away. "Mr. Lukas, it's me. We're heading overseas on business. No idea when we'll return."
Brian's rage, which had been building to a crescendo, got caught in his throat. Still seething, he muttered, "Phoebe's a student—a brilliant medical student. Don't go corrupting her."
Harold simply replied, "Hanging up."
I burst into laughter, nearly doubling over.
