Chapter 59 - Chapter 59: Doctor Strange's identity is finally revealed

"Doctor Strange, Hawkeye Barton, who are they?"

Iron Man glanced at Nick Fury beside him and asked seriously.

Captain America was a super-powered individual, so there was no need to elaborate, and James Rhodes was Iron Man's best friend, so he naturally knew him.

Doctor Strange, Hawkeye, these two names were new to him, but their nicknames sounded impressive, not like ordinary people.

"Barton is a senior agent in our S.H.I.E.L.D.," Nick Fury explained to Iron Man.

"The ordinary kind?" Iron Man cautiously pressed.

"The ordinary kind." Nick Fury nodded emphatically.

"Then why does he have a nickname like Hawkeye?" Iron Man stared at Nick Fury and asked earnestly, "Are his eyes shaped like an eagle's? Is he born with a deformed eye?"

"His eyes are as sharp as an eagle's!" Nick Fury corrected Iron Man, annoyed.

Stark, you must be doing this on purpose. Even if you thought about it with your leg, "Hawkeye" wouldn't be describing the external shape of someone's eyes, would it?

"As for Doctor Strange, I've never heard of this… Wait, Stephen Strange?" Nick Fury was about to say he didn't know him when he suddenly thought of something.

Based on Coulson's drawing, he had found several suspected individuals who might be the sorcerer from the Endgame, and Stephen Strange was one of them.

However, after a series of investigations, no one was found to be proficient in magic. In desperation, Nick Fury had no choice but to monitor everyone on the list.

But now it seemed the identity of that mysterious sorcerer had surfaced.

"Could it be… Doctor Strange is him?" Nick Fury's single eye flickered with a sharp glint. "Stark, he should be the sorcerer from the Endgame."

"The one who held up one finger to me? So it was him!" Iron Man suddenly realized, understanding dawned on him.

Iron Man didn't ask how Nick Fury knew; Coulson must have told Nick Fury about the Q&A system, and Nick Fury must have found out some things.

"Are there really people like sorcerers in this world?"

Captain America asked, his worldview somewhat shattered. He had always believed such beings only existed in novels and movies.

"Captain, you yourself are the biggest magic!" Nick Fury said meaningfully.

What right did a man who slept for seventy years have to be so surprised here?

"So, what about War Machine James Rhodes?" Captain America shrugged, looking at Nick Fury and asking.

"James Rhodes is a colonel in the military, and he's also a friend of mine."

Iron Man introduced him to Captain America, but a hint of doubt flashed in his eyes. "But what's with War Machine? Does Rhode have that nickname?"

After thinking carefully, Iron Man didn't remember Rhode having a nickname like War Machine.

"War Machine?" Nick Fury also stared at the title, lost in thought. "Since this title is recognized by the Q&A system, it must not be as simple as an ordinary nickname."

"Just like titles such as 'Iron Man' and 'Hawkeye,' Colonel Rhodes's title must also be a formal codename, widely recognized by society or within his specific circle."

Iron Man and Captain America couldn't help but nod.

Although there was no evidence to prove this, they both shared the same view as Nick Fury.

For example, Iron Man's nicknames like "egotist," "playboy," "billionaire," etc., would never be adopted by the Q&A system.

Only "Iron Man," a codename universally acknowledged by society, even by the military, political circles, and all social strata, was adopted by the system.

The same applied to "Hawkeye." Although this nickname wasn't particularly flashy, it was widely recognized within his specific circle.

S.H.I.E.L.D., as well as other intelligence agencies, all acknowledged this codename.

This was natural; the system's style couldn't be so low as to adopt all sorts of random nicknames and epithets.

So, Rhode's codename, War Machine, must also be a similar situation.

"Stark, neither you nor I know that Colonel Rhodes has such a codename, which means that Colonel Rhodes does not currently have this codename, but will acquire it in the future."

"Otherwise, we wouldn't not know." Nick Fury said to Iron Man from the side.

"It should mostly be like that." Iron Man nodded.

Then, a hint of teasing flashed across his face, and he couldn't help but mock his old friend, "'War Machine,' that codename is quite imposing, but how did Rhode, who's as thin as a monkey, get that title?"

War Machine, at first listen, sounds like a fierce and powerful combatant.

But Colonel Rhodes's physique was truly hard to describe; it simply didn't match such a formidable nickname as War Machine, creating a stark contrast in style.

"Such a codename wouldn't just appear out of nowhere; Rhode must have done something in the future to be given such a codename." Captain America offered his opinion at this point.

"Rhode is an Air Force Colonel, what could he have done to be given the title 'War Machine'? It can't be that a war breaks out in the future and Colonel Rhode performs exceptionally well in it?"

Iron Man pondered thoughtfully.

However, upon closer thought, Iron Man found it somewhat far-fetched, because if a war truly broke out, the role a fighter jet could play would actually be extremely limited.

The impact wouldn't be significant enough for Rhodes to receive the level of recognition from his own circle, the military, to earn the title of War Machine.

"Could it be…"

But then, Iron Man's eyes lit up slightly.

He remembered that ever since the Iron Man suit came out, many organizations like the Department of Defense and the military had been constantly trying to get a set of Iron Man armor.

Rhode, representing the military, had come to Iron Man countless times.

Although Iron Man still acted incredibly arrogant, he was actually softening up inside and planned to find a suitable opportunity to give Rhode a set of Iron Man armor.

"It must be this!" Iron Man said emphatically, his tone very certain, "Rhode must also be called War Machine because of the Iron Man armor!"

There could be no other more reasonable explanation.

Only something like the Iron Man armor, which is watched and focused on by the whole world, would allow Rhode to acquire that codename.

"Iron Man armor? What does that have to do with Colonel Rhodes?"

Nick Fury listened, bewildered. "Stark, did you hand over the Iron Man armor to the military in the future? That doesn't sound like you."

"No, Rhode is my best friend, understand? I'm not giving it to the military; I'm giving it to my best friend, that's different!"

Iron Man said with immense arrogance.
