Chapter 2 - The First Breath

Rushed steps, cries, and a gritting florescent light.

Nor smell or taste known, yet the other senses betrayed him; see, hear, speak. He squinted his abyss-like eyes as he grunted soft at that very source of light. Pulling out a black shade from his pocket, setting it across his eyes. He leaned back against the cold seat as another man in an all too familiar white coat ran frantic as the alarm set off, disturbing his peace.

"CODE BLUE! CODE BLUE!"

Hospital. Death surely lingers in this place much evident. A place where life and death are a blurred. Humans either live or die here.

He looked around, watching each single reactions and emotions of humans. Those emotions are unknown to him, as feelings had never been a set of his creation. A young mother cry to her son's death, an old father smile to his daughter's tears, and more. All to similar, yet very different to each one of them. Sorrow, despair, yet happiness and hope lingers too.

Why do humans feel? I will never understand it.

A passing coldness, as death lingers again. It was his cue. Sitting up, he took deliberate steps among the surgery room. A mother's wailing heard. The tall and charming young man closed in, as his steps firm yet his black shoes somehow didn't make a single sound. His all black attire was his identity, of what you asked? It shall not be known. However, one thing for sure.

I deal with deaths. But I am no angel of death. That's Ezrael's job.

Bringing himself inside, no door need to open, only an instant appearing before such humans. Standing firm as he watches the mothers' tears trailed down as she cried out in pain.

"You can do it, madam! Just a little bit more! Push!" The nurse hold tight to her hand as she was getting weaker and weaker with each forcing exertions.

How... futile.

He removed his glare and pocketed it once again, a swirl of black mists appeared around his hand. The black mist spread through out the whole hospital. Before long a tempestuous shake clattered the whole surrounding area.

"It's an earthquake!" Rhythmic cry of help chained to his ears. All drops, all falls, the circuity had failed, thus whole fold. The quake never ceased. The side hall collapsed and with that death follows. Before long the mother as her last effort of demise, she wailed.

"Aaahhhhh!" Her scream engulfed by the collapsing and totality of the exactly 3175 radius meter. Come crumbling down and so it did. The same black mist rise along the greyish smoke of destruction. A man he once again, eyes lifeless as he watches his doing, to life of humans is none to his matter. Those mere portions of happiness and hope were now buried together as despair.

"The first breath." Muttering soft as the wind blow his hair slight.

Through his mind eyes, the mother now plunged deep into the sinkhole. Somehow, she managed to hold tight to her child that breath her first, despite his calamity.

"Miracle they said, huh." A scoff.

Is living bearing the death of millions, worth it? For she had cursed her with life instead. However, I shall not let such opportunity amiss. For I am calamity, and this vessel is but a mere catalyst. In her end, I'll take her as well, as I did to another.

Then, black mists appeared before the debris, rising up to the sky. Gesturing his hand, the black mists gathered above his hand, condensing to a single black orb.

"How beautiful. Yet, not enough, not... perfect." The siren blaring from the distance. Notifying the arrival of rescue. That day, a devastating day, befall the peaceful city. The death of millions, honored by human is but only a fleeting pity. He had known how selfish they are and this is no different. He glanced to the child again buried beneath the rubbles.

"His rohi. I'll come for you... As I had come for those before you..." He muttered before dissolving into black particles, carried by the wind. Those dark dusts of calamity disperses for another beautiful catastrophe to yield.
