Aria's POV
The darkness wraps around us like a blanket, thick with the smell of wet earth and ancient trees. Out here in the wilderness, everything feels concentrated down to just the two of us, his steady breathing, and the way my pulse jumps every time he looks in my direction. The memory of his mouth against mine burns through my thoughts, keeping sleep at bay.
I had expected him to take everything I offered. My body had been ready, willing, desperate for his touch. Instead, he pulled back and told me to rest. The ache between my thighs hasn't faded since.
His voice cuts through the quiet when he finally speaks. "You keep watching me."
My face burns with embarrassment. I turn away quickly, focusing on the stone wall that shields us from view, but I know he sees right through my pretense. He always has.
"No, I wasn't," I mumble, but even I can hear how unconvincing it sounds.
