Soyeon stumbled toward the door on legs that felt like water. Her mind was screaming, her heart was causing a ruckus in her chest.
Lady Xia. Oh God, Lady Xia.
She ran through the corridors, searching desperately. Finally, she found her, in a small room off the eastern corridor, lying on a daybed.
Unconscious.
"Lady Xia!" Soyeon rushed to her side, checking her pulse with shaking fingers. "Lady Xia! Can you hear me?"
Lady Xia's eyelids fluttered. Opened. Her eyes were unfocused, frightened.
"Su... Yan?"
"I'm here. I'm here." Soyeon gathered her friend into her arms, tears streaming down her face. "What did they do to you? Are you hurt?"
"They.….gave me something. Tea, I think." Lady Xia's voice was slurred, weak. "Made me... sleepy. And then..." She started crying. "Su Yan, I was so scared. They said—they said if you didn't cooperate—"
