Chapter 40 - 40: More Macho Than Superman?!

Feeling the massive surge of energy within him, Luke clicked his tongue in amazement.

As expected of a divine artifact capable of freezing the entire Earth. Its destructive power might not be overwhelming, but its energy reserves were more than sufficient.

In the future, if I run into opponents with high magic power, I'll switch to Mjolnir to boost Strength and Constitution. If I need sustained magical output, I'll just equip the Nine Caskets of Ancient Winters.

Luke was a bit excited. Just how terrifying would a Heaven Star be if summoned with 20,000 Energy?

Could it reach the level of the Wilkes Land meteorite?

The Wilkes Land meteorite was an enormous asteroid more than 50 kilometers in diameter, and its impact left a crater stretching 500 kilometers across.

The energy released was equivalent to hundreds of millions of Tsar Bombs exploding at once—enough to wipe out an entire continent.

Although Luke was curious, he had no intention of testing it on Earth.

Even if this world was awful, things hadn't reached that stage yet.

Odin and the Ancient One turned their gaze toward Luke.

They vaguely sensed a more terrifying, subtle fluctuation radiating from Luke.

That invisible sense of oppression felt even stronger than before.

For a moment, both of them were filled with apprehension and uncertainty.

What have you been doing behind our backs again?!

"Why are you looking at me? Is something wrong?"

Luke knew perfectly well why they were reacting that way, but he had no intention of explaining anything.

Odin glanced at the Ancient One, his expression seeming to say: Aren't you at Kamar-Taj supposed to worry about this? Didn't you say you monitor every threat?

The Ancient One answered with a gentle smile: This is how things work at Kamar-Taj. Don't ask questions; all interpretation rights belong to us.

Odin withdrew his gaze, silently considering whether he should pay closer attention to Luke.

Asgard was declining, while Midgard was rising at a speed visible to the naked eye.

Of course, that didn't mean he had any intention of ruling Midgard.

Only a fool would try to conquer such a rotten, broken planet.

If someone came to him right now and said, "I want to conquer Earth!"

Odin would probably laugh them to death.

Stupid idiot, good riddance.

At that moment, a certain area of the Pacific Ocean was still bubbling.

In the suburbs of New York, an unmanned Bumblebee was approaching that region.

At a military base, an F-15 suddenly broke formation, fully loaded and fueled, heading straight for the city.

None of this was noticed—not even by Heimdall.

Everyone's attention was fixed on the Hulk.

They had completely overlooked the impending crisis.

Feeling slightly irritated, Odin focused again on the battle between the Hulk and the Abomination.

The strength of those two monsters was impressive, but they were nothing more than brute force without proper combat awareness.

They weren't even using half of their true power.

Naturally, Odin didn't take them seriously.

"Is Midgard always this chaotic? I actually think you should visit Asgard sometime. It is the most beautiful and peaceful place in the Nine Realms."

Odin extended the invitation sincerely, his gaze resting on Luke.

Seeing Odin try to recruit him, the Ancient One quickly cut in: "We at Kamar-Taj are non-confrontational, and we can travel across multiple worlds. Lord of Asgard, if you're interested, you're welcome to visit us as well."

Odin's smile didn't change as he met the Ancient One's gaze, silently thinking: Old fox.

Luke was far too mysterious, and if possible, Odin wouldn't mind bringing in some outside force to help stabilize Asgard.

But Luke had no intention of relocating.

Are you kidding? Earth may be a mess, but at least it can still function.

And you dare say Asgard—destined for Ragnarok—is safe?

Do you even understand what Ragnarok is, Odin?

As for Kamar-Taj…

Forget it. Spending every day dealing with Dimensional Demon Gods is a fast track to going insane.

Just then, the protagonist of the great battle, the Hulk, finally snapped under the Abomination's endless taunts.

Having been pummeled and pushed back the whole time, his rage suddenly exploded, and his strength surged rapidly.

Luke thought to himself, This is bad.

"You two keep talking. I'll be right back."

With that, Luke rushed toward the battlefield.

If he didn't act now, he wouldn't have a plausible excuse to beat up the Hulk and the Abomination.

He didn't want to expose his mindset yet, so anything unusual he did needed a "reasonable" explanation.

Seeing Luke move, Odin abandoned the idea of continuing his conversation with the Ancient One and focused on the battlefield.

The Ancient One also had no intention of chatting. Hands clasped behind her back, her wide robes hiding her unusual arm, she wore a calm smile, but her heart was weighed down.

Meanwhile, in the middle of the street—

The Hulk, who had been pinned down and pummeled by the Abomination, let out a furious roar, thrusting upward and throwing the Abomination off him.

He flipped over, seized the upper position, and began raining down heavy punches while straddling the Abomination.

Up in the helicopter overhead—

Coulson watched the fight below with tight nerves. When he saw the momentum shift, he finally let out a breath of relief.

"Officer, the situation has turned around. Dr. Banner has gained the advantage. It may not be long before the impostor is defeated."

"Keep observing. Report to me immediately if anything happens!"

"Yes, sir."

Coulson nodded, but just as he opened his mouth again, he saw a lone, slender figure appear at the center of the battlefield.

Without anyone seeing how he moved, the figure instantly appeared in front of the Hulk and kicked him away.

"What the fuck? Who is that?"

Coulson quickly signaled his subordinates to pull up the satellite surveillance feed.

"Sir, based on facial comparison, the match is 83 percent."

"Wait—cross-referencing data shows a 94 percent match!"

"He's the Midgardian Thor, Luke!"

Coulson froze when he heard this, leaning halfway out of the helicopter. "Officer, this is bad!"

Nick Fury's voice crackled through the headset: "I'm perfectly fine!"

"I mean Luke is here!"

"You said who—?!" Fury's voice cracked.

"Luke?!"

"Damn it, what is he doing there?"

A strong sense of dread welled up in Nick Fury's chest.

Coulson suddenly understood. "Right, Luke's home is just one street away…"

"So you're saying the Hulk and that monster are fighting right outside his house?"

Nick Fury: "…"

"What does he want? Is he trying to protect New York and subdue the Abomination?"

Nick Fury nearly laughed out loud as he said it.

The "Guardian God of New York" the media talked about? Don't make him laugh!

He was the most frequent cause of destruction!

Although they didn't know Luke's actual goal, one thing was certain: Luke was definitely not a superhero.

And he wasn't a villain either.

But that was exactly what made the situation even worse!

Coulson stared at the main screen, cold sweat running down his forehead.

"I don't know… Wait—he's beating up the Hulk!"

"Stop him immediately!!" Nick Fury shouted in panic.

Luke never held back. The first time he took action, he created a meteorite crater more than eight kilometers wide.

The second time he took action, he lit up the entire city of New York.

This third attack… what if he accidentally killed the Hulk he was so interested in?

Coulson also realized how serious the situation was. Seeing Luke punch the Hulk hundreds of meters away on the screen, he immediately ordered his team to hack into the nearby street broadcast system.

"Mr. Luke, stop! Stop fighting! The ugly monster is the enemy!"

"Exactly! Isn't that who I'm beating up right now?"

Luke raised his fist, looking down at the red-eyed Hulk beneath his feet. In response to the Hulk's furious glare, he brought his fist down.

BOOM!!

As expected, the Hulk's head was harder than steel.

Luke's punch drove the Hulk's head straight into the pavement, leaving only his legs sticking out, twitching uncontrollably.

Even just watching through the screen, Coulson felt suffocated and terrified.

Painful—way too painful!

Did Luke just kill the Hulk with one punch?

"The Hulk is mine, get lost!"

A beast-like roar erupted nearby.

Abomination, who had been fighting the Hulk evenly just moments before, saw Luke bullying his nemesis and immediately charged over.

But Luke seemed to have eyes in the back of his head. Just as Abomination closed in, Luke spun around, his right fist wrapped in violent, ionized lightning.

"Thunderbolt Fist!"

Bang—!!!

Abomination truly lived up to being the Hulk's rival; after taking Luke's punch, he ended up right beside the Hulk—both of them planted headfirst into the ground.

Four elephant-like legs stuck out, twitching in perfect unison.

Coulson covered his eyes, unable to keep watching.

He reported the situation to Nick Fury, who sucked in a sharp breath.

"Wait—shouldn't Luke be a magic-based character who summons meteors and lightning? Can someone explain to me why he's even more macho than Superman?!"
