Chapter 42 - 42: Magic Is Simple!

Early the next morning.

"Today is another day full of hope."

Maria arrived early at Luke's house. Gazing at Luke's perfectly proportioned bare upper body, she couldn't help but sigh in admiration.

However, when she saw Madison walking out of Luke's room wearing only pajamas, her mood instantly soured.

In the glass mirror beside Maria, Airam was tempting her. "Maria, don't be a coward. Hurry up and make a move! There's still plenty of time today—don't let Madison monopolize all the benefits."

Maria lowered her head weakly.

Airam sighed, making Maria feel even more embarrassed.

"Maria, if you keep this up, no one will respect you!"

"I... It's fine. I'm happy just having you all here."

Maria pursed her lips.

Everyone looked down on her, yet she never fought back.

Still, Maria was able to console herself.

"Airam, it's okay. Once we get to school, I'll let you take over. The time at school will be all ours!"

Maria's beautiful eyes shone brightly.

Luke's house had one, two, three....?

Fine, four women sharing one Luke. Let them fight over the time spent at home.

As for her, she only needed to monopolize Luke at school—that would already be a huge profit!

"Fine..." Airam was speechless.

What else could she do? She couldn't help someone who wouldn't help herself!

But it was okay. When the time came, she would make a move, and just as things were about to reach climax, she could switch back to Maria.

We're all sisters, so I'll let you enjoy it.

Yulinka walked out of her room, looking sullen with dark circles under her eyes.

Luke found this quite strange. It was the first time he had seen Yulinka so depressed.

"Hmm? What's wrong?"

Yulinka pouted but didn't speak.

Veronica shook her head. "Yulinka... might not have a talent for magic."

"Madison has already learned one spell, but Yulinka still hasn't grasped magic power."

Madison casually remarked from the side, "Maybe God gave Yulinka a super brain but forgot to give her magic talent?"

"Hey, I thought it was something serious. That's all?"

Luke stroked Yulinka's head. "You should've said so earlier. It's just magical talent. If God won't give it, then I will!"

Yulinka's eyes lit up. She happily hugged Luke and said, "I knew Daddy would have a solution!"

Veronica was quite surprised. "You can give someone magical talent? Or are you planning to have Yulinka learn the mystic arts of Kamar-Taj?"

Kamar-Taj doesn't emphasize so-called magical talent; it emphasizes destiny.

That's because they fundamentally lack their own magical power. All of their magic and spells rely entirely on borrowing power.

So-called talent is mainly reflected in how quickly one learns magic.

"Is it that difficult? I thought mages of the Merlin lineage only needed a Sling Ring to cast magic freely. Do you actually still need talent?"

As Luke spoke, he brought up Yulinka's character settings in a 3D stereoscopic view.

After spending time playing with Jenny several times, Yulinka no longer had to worry about her mother growing old alone, and she genuinely expressed her approval of Luke as her Dad.

Because of that, Luke even gained 500 Anomaly Points.

He casually added the same talent Madison had to Yulinka's character panel.

"Done! Now you can try the magic you were taught earlier!"

No one saw what Luke did.

Veronica's eyes shone with amazement.

She had thought Luke would use some powerful spell, yet he accomplished something even Merlin couldn't—with just a single sentence?

Yulinka looked doubtful.

Madison shook her head. "Don't bother trying. Yulinka is still young. Even if she has magical talent, she won't be able to learn it."

"The magic Veronica teaches involves quantum mechanics and basic physics."

"Do you understand calculus? Do you understand molecules, atoms, or ionic states?"

"Only by observing and vibrating molecules can you create fire. If you don't understand any of that—"

Before Madison could finish speaking, woosh!

Yulinka had already rubbed a small fireball into existence between her hands. She blinked her innocent eyes. "It's very simple. Don't tell me you can't do it?"

Madison immediately felt unsettled.

It had taken her three full days of studying mathematics and physics to successfully cast that fireball.

Wait—Yulinka, who wasn't even ten years old yet, actually understood physics?

Although Madison had grown up under a "happy education" system and had never been exposed to elite schooling, she also had no interest in science or engineering.

But Yulinka? She…

Wait a second—Yulinka does all of Luke's homework!

So she really does know it?! And even better than Madison herself?!!!

Luke was genuinely surprised at this point. "What? Magic requires math and physics? Are you sure that isn't just science?"

Veronica was even more shocked. "You didn't know? Even the mystic arts of Kamar-Taj require that knowledge! Then how did you cast our magic so easily?"

"I just thought about it, clapped my hands, and it worked. Does it really need to be that complicated?"

Luke spread his hands helplessly. There was nothing he could do—the golden finger was just that unreasonable.

It had already become a bodily instinct.

Veronica slapped her forehead. "A genius! No—wait, a monster! If Merlin were reborn, he'd definitely take you as his disciple. Well… you wouldn't even need that."

Given the strength Luke had shown, even if Merlin were resurrected, he probably wouldn't be a match for him.

At that moment, Yulinka seemed to be thinking about something else.

She clapped her hands and released an invisible barrier.

"V-Vacuum Sphere?" Veronica froze. "I only mentioned it yesterday, and you figured it out just by hearing about it?"

The Vacuum Sphere was one of the best spells for resisting fire.

After Madison learned the fireball, Veronica had only mentioned it in passing.

She hadn't expected Yulinka to grasp it immediately.

"Another magic genius!"

Yulinka nodded happily. "Heheh~ Daddy was right. You just clap your hands and it comes out. Magic isn't difficult at all."

Veronica and Madison fell silent at the same time. Our magic is not the same kind of magic as yours!

Luke, however, understood perfectly.

After all, Yulinka's brain development was progressing at an astonishing rate. As long as her body could keep up, her level of cognitive development might reach a truly terrifying degree.

Perhaps in the future, she could become a high-tech prodigy on par with Tony Stark, Shuri, or Bruce Banner.

I just wonder if she could become a Lucy from Lucy? Hmm… that might be a bit difficult.

Maria watched the scene unfold in quiet astonishment.

She realized that an invisible barrier seemed to have formed between herself and this family, making her feel completely out of place.

In that instant, a wild thought crossed Maria's mind.

What if I moved in too?

As for her father and mother? Who cared!

They had never truly cared about or understood her anyway.

Knock, knock, knock—there was a knock at the door.

Luke glanced outside, waved his hand, and clothes automatically flew over and dressed him.

The others quickly changed as well.

When Luke opened the door, a middle-aged man stood there, accompanied by a sunny, lively girl in her early teens, holding an exquisite gift box.

"Hello. I'm David, and this is my daughter, Emma Grossman. We just moved in next door and wanted to come by to greet our neighbors."

Luke froze slightly.

Emma? The naturally evil Uchi—no, no—the Bad Seed?!

He turned around and glanced at Yulinka, whose eyes were filled with curiosity.

Good heavens… what a coincidence.

Emma Grossman, the main character from the 2018 movie The Bad Seed.

In the story, Emma is a seemingly sweet, sunny, and polite young girl who is actually a cunning, "naturally evil" psychopath (a sociopathic child who manipulates and kills without remorse).
