Chapter 10 - CONFLICT

I was at the downstairs sitting room, scrolling through my phone when a video from Lisa popped up on my screen. I played the video and it was the dance video from yesterday, I giggled and continued watching the video when I heard a voice from behind.

"You dance so well," Damon complimented.

I rolled my eyes, "How long have you been standing there?"

"Can't remember," He replied.

"Zen, I really want us to talk"

"Talk about what?" I asked.

He sighed and sat beside me, I shifted and used the side pillow to create a boundary between us.

"Zen, why do you keep treating me like a piece of trash?"

"You ain't valuable to me," I replied reluctantly.

"If I were your fath--"

"Zip it! just zip it, cause you are nothing like my father." I said, cutting him short.

"What makes you think I'm not a father material?" He asked.

I stared at him for a while, "do you know how many times I've walked through that door and saw you smooching with my mum on the couch," I said, pointing at the entrance door.

He looked down at his finger and looked at me, "what can I do to make it up to you?"

"Simple, Stay very far away from my mum and family," I said and went upstairs to my room.

I received a conference call from Diva and Lisa asking me to join them at our favorite cafe shop for a little friends coffee date.

I immediately changed my outfit and left the house. when I got to the cafe shop, I saw them sitting at the VIP lounge.

"Hey girls!" I greeted, sitting down.

"My love, what's popping?" Diva asked.

I sipped my coffee and chuckled, "Damon wants to bribe his way into my heart."

"No way!" Lisa exclaimed in laughter.

"In his wildest dream," Diva said.

"What about your mum?" Lisa asked.

"I think I'm ready to work things out with her," I replied.

"That means accepting Damon," Diva said.

"Not at all, i rather remain fatherless than accepting Damon as my dad," I said.

"I thought as much," Lisa said and we laughed.

"Margarita sure knows how to make the best coffee in this city," I complimented.

"You say that everytime we come here," Diva said.

"Oh forgive me for liking Margarita's coffee," I teased and we burst into laughter.

Just then Shelly walked in with Zoe and Chloe, she wanted to settle down when she sighted us, she stood up immediately and sauntered towards us.

"Look who we have here," she said, resting her hands on our table.

"I don't know you girls come here too," she added.

I chuckled, "Shelly, you seem to have forgotten where you be--"

"Where I belong? you wanna remind me that I'm only but beneath you, the almighty queen bee of Hiddenveil, huh?" she said, cutting me short.

I stared at her and chuckled, "do you know why I picked interest in you? you have the energy of a bullet, but also has the likeness of a depressed elephant."

Her face flushed, "that's the only thing you are good at! having a quick come back,"

I chuckled "No matter how hard you try, my darling, you can never be like me, so stop forcing yourself to be like me."

She jammed her hands on our table feeling so exasperated.

"Reduce the noise, you don't belong here." Lisa said, pushing her hands off our table.

"Security!" Diva called out and one of the security's walked in immediately.

"Walk this dummy out, she doesn't belong to the VIP," Diva ordered.

"Where is your VIP membership card, ma'am?" the security asked, turning to Shelly, but she couldn't provide the membership card, her cheeks flushed in embarrassment.

She glared at us and stormed out of the cafe shop with her friends.

Shelly paced up and down outside the cafe shop and growled, "I just wish I could rip off her face,"

"Why did you entered the VIP lounge when you knew you don't have a membership card?" Zoe asked and Shelly landed a hot slap on her cheeks.

Chloe gasped and whimpered a bit.

"What is it?" Shelly asked, turning to Chloe.

"Not.. nothing," Chloe stuttered.

Just then I and my friends came out from the cafe and saw them outside. we stared at them for a while and burst into laughter before leaving the place.

When I got home, I entered my room through the window, I always go in through the window to avoid bumping into Damon at the downstairs sitting room, cause seeing his face alone gives me bad energy.

I checked the time and it was 3:30pm, I stretched myself and yawned, I changed into a breathable outfit and went to bed.

"Wake up sweetheart"

I heard my mum's voice, I slightly opened my eyes and saw her sitting next to me.

"what time is it?" I asked, rubbing my eyes.

"7pm, come down for dinner." she said and turned to leave.

"Wait!" i said, dragging her back.

She looked me all over and gently sat down on my bed.

"Mum, do you really love me?" I asked and she stared at me.

"Gosh! what a weird question." I thought.

My mum looked deep into my eyes and cupped my cheeks, "Baby, I never stopped loving you."

"I know that I've not been there for you, and might have taken certain decisions that didn't resonate with you, but I never for once stopped loving you."

I stared at her for a while and hugged her tightly,

"I missed you so much mum," I said and she froze.

She hugged me back more tightly and whispered, "I missed you more sunshine."

We disentangled from each other and she stared at me holding my hands, "does that mean that you've accepted Da--"

"No mum," I replied, cutting her short.

I removed my hands from her grip and turned around, "I find it difficult accepting him as my new dad."

"A part of me misses and still want my dad back," I added and she placed her hands on my shoulder.

"Sweetheart I know, but you have to accept and adapt to some certain changes in your life,"

She turned me around and looked into my eyes and smiled, "remember how you've always wanted a brother, if you accept Damon, you get two step brothers."

"Damon has two sons?" I asked, feeling bewildered.

"Yes honey," my mum replied.

"What happened to his ex wife?" I asked.

"She's late," my mum replied.

I stared at her for a while, "mum, I love you but I'm not letting a random guy father me." I said and went downstairs for dinner.
