"Kaiser, baby! Wake up now! We have to go!" A voice was desperate and panicked.
"Hm…? Mom?"
"Yes, Kaiser! You need to wake up now!"
Kaiser's eyes struggled to open fully; a blinding red glow kept them shut. It was warm, actually, it was an excruciating heat he felt around his body. He was covered in his own sweat, and he could hear crying and screaming, and then the sound of bloodshed.
He finally was able to open them fully, and saw his room, and the orphanage was on fire.
His eyes widened, as he gasped quietly, and tears began to form.
"M-mom…? What's–" Before he could finish asking his question, she instantly scooped him into her arms.
"I'm so sorry…" She whispers as she quickly begins to run downstairs.
She was panicked and scared, but she kept her boy tight in her arms, as she turned the corner and made it to the back door. Reaching outside, lay an unconscious Noel and several other children.
She quickly placed him down.
"Kaiser, go hide in the forest! I'll be there soon, with most of your brothers and sisters. I promise!" she yells, immediately turning back around and getting prepared to enter the house. But the words that came out of her mouth were absolutely silent to Kaiser, as he stared at the building in flames.
"GO NOW!" She shouted, and finally he snapped out of it.
He immediately grabbed his unconscious siblings and ran off into the forest.
Lyra runs back into the fiery inferno of a building and begins looking for the rest of the children. Her voice was shaky and filled with anger and fear as she screamed for the children to follow her voice. But she met no reply, as she began to hear more bloodshed. Her heart dropped, as she dashed into the living room.
Her eyes widened as she lost her breath. The man who stood on top of the orphanage's building, was now sitting peacefully on the floor, holding a small child by the neck while wiping blood from his face. His nails were plunged deep into the child's neck, so far that it nearly made a tunnel.
"..." She was silent, shocked, and horrified, dropping to her knees as she stared blankly at the man.
He turned his head and locked his rainbow eyes on her.
"Hello, sister in law. How's my nephew?" He asked, dropping the child.
"…" She couldn't respond.
He sighed and stood up, stretching his long limbs out.
"Hello? Lyra? Are you goin' deaf?" He asks sarcastically.
"W….why…. Are you… here…? What is your reason to do this….? What… what are you gaining!?" She snapped, immediately stumbling onto her feet. She was breathing heavily, and tears started to fill her eyes.
"Calm down, sis. I just wanna talk. You should already know what I'm here for anyway, so let's just cut to the chase." He says calmly.
"You know what time it is, Lyra. I know you do. You've been keeping him locked up inside this small humble house of yours, and not letting him fully release his true self. Why, Lyra? Why is Thanatos still inside of him?"
"What are you talking about!?"
"Brother never told you?" He asked.
"...? Brother?"
He smiles, his rainbow eyes beginning to glow brightly.
"Wow, just wow… you're clueless. Sigh… Your late husband, my brother, is the father of your child. Kaiser Schädeltanz Senior."
Her eyes widened, and a small gasp escaped her lips.
"..."
"You see, my nephew is sort of a special case. His birth date, 6/6/-6666, is unique. Actually, might as well call it mythical! He's so necessary for what I'm planning, that I can't allow him to live a life of normalcy." He walks over to Lyra and squats down to her level.
"Where are you going with this…?" She asks, her voice lightly shaking.
"He's death. Or more concretely, he is Death God Thanatos's vessel."
"... W-what?"
His smile began to grow colder, as an aura of fear began to surround the burning building. His hand gently touched her chin.
"Lyra, see that dead child? It may look like I coldly killed her, but it's far from the truth. That child will soon enter a better place that we could never go to, that I, Nikolger Schädeltanz, will soon give everyone in this world a chance to exist in. Lyra, that child, and all, will enter… My heaven."
***
Kaiser's legs bounced heavily off the ground, with his back in pain that couldn't be described for a kid this young. Maybe the rush of adrenaline and fear made him this strong, as he carried Noe, and 3 different children all on his small back.
He was so confused and dazed, that he didn't have any time to check or even get an idea of what was going on. All he knew was that his mother gave him an order to protect his family, and he would do so with no more questions asked.
He was far deep into the forest, almost a mile away from the burning orphanage.
All he could think about was his mother, rightfully concerned over her safety. It had been over 3 minutes since she had gone back into the house, and he didn't know if she had left or not due to how far he had gone.
"Kai…?" A weak voice called behind his ear.
Noel, who had finally regained consciousness, weakly gripped onto the back of his loose shirt.
"N-Noel!"
"Kai…? Where's mama Lyra…? Where are we…?" She asked, her voice raspy and quiet.
"Don't worry, she'll be here soon!" He said, trying to stay calm but his words came out panicked.
BOOM!
Kaiser came to a halt, momentum leading him to fall to the ground, dropping the other children. It was a large explosion located at the orphanage, with large debris scattering and slamming into the ground.
Noel, who was half asleep had fully woken up. Her tired and confused demeanor, had now become a face filled with panic and childish tears.
Kaiser's eyes were widened with fear, his heart was beating fastly, almost felt like it was going to fall out of his chest. But that didn't stop him, as he immediately got back up, picked up the smaller children and placed them back into his back, and looked over to Noel.
"Get up! We need to keep running!" He panicky demanded.
"W-what's happening!? Where's mama!?"
He reached over and forcefully grabbed her hand, pulling her up.
"We have to keep going! Mom will be okay, but now isn't the time!" He yelled, as he began to run again, dragging Noel who began to stumble behind him.
