Chapter 39 - This Is My Justice

"Speaking of justice," Focalors said calmly, "I've always believed that justice is a process of tracing back to the very existence of humanity itself."

"If stealing the power of the Primordial Sea is Fontaine's original sin, then beyond all judgments of right and wrong, the mere fact that Fontainians were born as humans and granted the right to exist in this world is Fontaine's original justice."

[Ningguang: For me, justice is ensuring Liyue's commerce flourishes and its people live in peace and prosperity.]

[Venti: For me, justice is freedom—but only so long as it does not infringe upon the freedom of others. Freedom is not the same as indulgence.]

[Jean: My justice is to protect Mondstadt, so that the winds of freedom may always blow across this land.]

[Diluc: Before dawn arrives, someone must illuminate the darkness—even if only a little. That is my justice.]

[Zhongli: As the God of Contracts, my justice is the upholding of contracts.]

[Xiao: My justice is to defend Liyue and repel its enemies.]

[Xiangling: My justice is cooking delicious food so that everyone can have a full belly.]

[Raiden Ei: My justice is to lose no more—to let eternity endure.]

[Yae Miko: Heh~ heh~ my justice is the salvation of my old friend.]

[The Knave: Well said. My justice is the execution of the Tsaritsa's will.]

[Nahida: At this moment, Fontaine's sin and justice have been unified.]

In the video, Focalors continues:

"In other words, existence itself was Egeria's justice. And to me, justice should be continuation."

"To shatter the prophecy and allow the people of Fontaine to live—that should be the justice that stands above all else at this moment."

"Whether it is I, or the people of Fontaine, we have borne this sin for far, far too long."

"Chief Justice Neuvillette—once you reclaim the full power of the Dragon Sovereign, what verdict will you pass upon us?"

Neuvillette: "When I was invited to the Court of Fontaine to become Chief Justice… that too was part of your plan, wasn't it?"

"I finally understand the true meaning of this position now."

"At first, I had no interest in humanity. But over these five hundred years of coexistence, I gradually came to understand them—to feel what they feel…"

"How cunning of you, Focalors."

"At this point, you know I can no longer deliver a guilty verdict, don't you?"

[Ningguang: To ensure that the Dragon Sovereign—upon reclaiming full authority today—would absolve Fontaine's people, she had Neuvillette live among humans for five hundred years.]

[Keqing: Indeed. The Dragon Sovereign might not care for humanity, but Neuvillette certainly would.]

[Zhongli: Five centuries of human interaction, trial after trial—these experiences shaped Neuvillette in return.]

[Nahida: It was a grand gamble—betting that over five hundred years, Neuvillette would develop feelings for Fontaine and humanity.]

[Neuvillette: Yes. I have already become a Fontainian.]

[Focalors: Just as Nahida said—it was a gamble. And I won.]

Focalors smiled faintly.

"Mm… it seems the time for execution is nearly upon us. This sinner should prepare to take her final bow. Though I speak lightly, facing death… is still frightening."

She looked up at the immense blade of energy above.

"Perhaps fear of death is one of the few things gods and humans truly share."

"Farewell, Neuvillette."

She tilted her head gently.

"I hope you enjoyed the role that belonged to you for these five hundred years."

Music rises.

Focalors dances lightly to its rhythm—graceful, noble, elegant.

As she spins, Focalors and Furina appear alternately upon the stage.

Focalors dances for Neuvillette.

Furina dances for the Traveler.

When the music ends, Focalors bows in an elegant final salute.

The Sword of Judgment descends from the heavens!

The Hydro Archon dissolves into droplets of water, returning to Neuvillette's body.

[Venti: A blade hangs above, a sinner dances—how strange. I am the Anemo Archon, yet my Hydro energy feels overflowing.]

[Keqing: God and human. Two actors. Two plays. Two witnesses. Two audiences.]

[Lumine: As a traveler from another world, allow me to offer the highest respect to the Hydro Archon, Focalors.]

[Nahida: The daughter of water, carrying her love for humanity, silently turned into foam. It is raining in Sumeru.]

The scene shifts.

Furina sits alone on a chair.

Tears fall soundlessly—an overwhelming sorrow that spills beyond the screen.

[Paimon: I really want to cry… At this moment, Furina still thinks she failed.]

[Ningguang: Five hundred years of performance, only for the final curtain to be her unmasking. Five hundred years of suffering, rewarded with what she believes is failure—I cannot imagine how much pain Furina is in right now.]

[Keqing: Is this… sorrow at its absolute limit?]

[Ganyu: At this moment, tears fall like a flood.]

A bubble drifts toward Furina, carrying Focalors' final words.

"You've worked so hard all this time, Furina. Please—live happily, as a human, just as I hoped you would."

A torrential rain pours over Fontaine.

Neuvillette rises from the opera house into the sky, rage and grief etched across his face.

"Chief Justice Neuvillette hereby declares—

I absolve all the people of Fontaine of their sins."

As his words fall, immense Hydro energy gathers in the sky, transforming into radiant raindrops that cascade down.

[Nahida: Neuvillette can control all water—except his own tears.]

[Ningguang: 'None are guilty.' 'The sinner's dance.' Everything aligns with the title.]

A flash of white light.

The scene returns to the moment before Neuvillette met Focalors.

Inside the opera house, everyone else looks confused.

Navia asks anxiously, "What just happened? Has the execution already been carried out?"

Lyney voices his thoughts:

"That blinding light—was it some kind of illusion? I have the feeling something extraordinary just happened."

[Paimon: Lyney and the others have no idea what happened. Did everything just occur in another space?]

[Focalors: Mm. That's not exactly accurate—but it's a simple enough way to understand it.]

Lynette says calmly, "Well, since we're still here and haven't dissolved into the sea, I suppose that's good news."

Neuvillette's voice, heavy with restrained fury, resonates through the hall:

"Everything should now come to an end. It is time to punish that whale."

Paimon is confused.

"But didn't you just say earlier that the whale couldn't be defeated?"

Neuvillette: "I have now obtained the power necessary to face it. By certain means, I can strip the Primordial Sea's power from within the whale."

"Now—

is the time to pursue it."
