Resting in each other's arms, they waited until they were absolutely certain they would not be feeling any more pain.
"Well, today wasn't exactly as pictured," Aiden quipped.
"How did you picture it? Not being covered in dirt?" Ember deadpanned.
Pulling Ember to stand, he said, "Well, I was thinking we would check out the warehouse, see how damaged it was. After dealing with that, I was thinking of having a relaxing day with you."
Ember shook her head. "You want to relax when doomsday is coming?"
"If we don't relax now, when do you expect to relax. We can't do it by then."
Ember and Aiden walked hand in hand, walking forward, hoping to reach civilization.
Less than ten minutes after walking, they came upon a clearing.
What they saw made Ember's mouth drop.
"Are you fucking kidding me? We were this close?" Ember shouted.
Aiden covered his eyes with his hand. Ember shook Aiden's hand, the hand she was holding.
