Chapter 20 - This Is A Misunderstanding

"Hold on!"

I took a step back and shouted loudly.

"Are you still trying to quibble?" The middle-aged policeman sneered.

I seemed much calmer, "Officer, your surname is Zhang, right? Do you happen to know Jason Martinez?"

The middle-aged policeman's face changed slightly, but soon returned to normal, with a more sinister expression, "My surname is Zhang, so what? I don't know any Jason Martinez."

"I'm warning you, if you don't cooperate, we'll have to use force. You wouldn't want that in front of all these villagers, would you?"

I replied calmly, "Then at least let me make a phone call."

The middle-aged policeman was taken aback.

Then, he laughed coldly.

A poor village kid, just happened to be good-looking and got lucky with a wealthy woman. Who could he possibly know that's significant? Still, he promised Jason to give this kid a hard time.

"Alright! Go ahead and call! I'm telling you, even if you call The Celestial Overlord, it won't help." He taunted.

I calmly took out my phone and dialed Brian Anderson's number.

Brian Anderson was in real estate, knew a lot of people, and was quite influential, the perfect person to help right now.

After a few rings, the enthusiastic voice of Brian Anderson came through on the other end.

"Hey, Thompson! Why are you thinking of your big brother Brian so early in the morning?"

"Big brother Brian, I'm in a bit of trouble now. Two policemen just came to me, accusing me of theft and wanting to arrest me."

"What?"

On the other end of the line, Brian Anderson nearly jumped up.

"Damn it, which bastard dares to arrest my brother Thompson? What theft accusation, it's all nonsense. With your talents, would you even need to steal? It must be a mistake!"

"Big brother Brian, they're adamant about it and are even claiming that the eighty grand in my account is stolen money." I said.

"What? Stolen money? Damn it, are those cops blind? Can't they check the transaction records? Could it be... they're deliberately framing you?"

Then Brian Anderson realized what was happening.

"Thompson, don't panic, don't go with them. Now, hand the phone over to him." Brian Anderson said.

I agreed and walked over to hand over the phone.

"Who is it?"

The middle-aged policeman frowned, puzzled but still took the phone, "Who are you? Let me tell you, Charlie Thompson is suspected of a serious theft, and I'm taking him to the station for questioning."

"Damn you, it's Brian Anderson! Do you know who I am? What's your name, tell me now!"

Brian Anderson started with a scolding.

The middle-aged policeman was a bit stunned, the name Brian Anderson sounded familiar.

"Which Brian Anderson?"

"Damn it, how many Brian Lowells are there in Oakfield County? Do you know Horizon Properties!"

Suddenly, the middle-aged policeman's body shivered, and cold sweat instantly poured down.

Brian Anderson, the CEO of Horizon Properties, who wouldn't know that? In Oakfield County, he's a well-known figure.

Ordinarily, he wouldn't be afraid, but this time, he was intentionally harassing someone, not on official business.

His face turned pale, and his heart filled with anxiety.

Damn it, how did this village boy get connected with the CEO of Aura-Rise? Wasn't he supported by a rich woman? If this gets out, he's done for!

He swallowed hard and wiped the cold sweat from his forehead.

"Are you... really Mr. Anderson?"

"No shit!"

"Mr... Mr. Anderson, this... this is a misunderstanding!" He stammered nervously.

"Misunderstanding? Misunderstanding my ass! You stay put, I'm coming over, don't think of running!" Mr. Anderson said, then immediately hung up.

Holding the phone, the middle-aged policeman turned ashen, his hand trembling a bit.

In his mind, he was already angrily cursing Jason Martinez.

What village brat, easily dealt with? All lies! If he can make the Aura-Rise CEO come personally, could this guy be simple?

He was as anxious as an ant on a hot pan. Behind him, a young policeman's face also turned extremely ugly, knowing full well that they had hit a tough wall this time.

"Thompson... Brother Thompson!"

The middle-aged policeman returned the phone, forcing a smile.

"Who's your brother!" I coldly replied.

Rejected, the middle-aged policeman awkwardly smiled, his face becoming increasingly unpleasant.

"Didn't Mr. Anderson say to wait? So just wait!" I said coldly, then leaned against my tricycle, waiting.

At this moment, the surrounding villagers were utterly puzzled.

What's going on here?

They were about to arrest Charlie Thompson, and suddenly, the situation changed? Why did the policeman seem afraid of Charlie Thompson?

"Hey! Aren't you guys police? If he did something wrong, why aren't you arresting him?"

An elder woman shouted.

"Arrest, arrest, arrest, arrest who?"

The middle-aged policeman, in his agitation, immediately roared.

The elder woman flinched, not daring to speak further.

Time passed slowly, and more and more people gathered to watch, with over half the village present, watching this strange scene and discussing it endlessly.

About twenty minutes later, suddenly there was an uproar from the village entrance.

People looked over and saw a procession of cars coming in a grand manner.

They were all luxury cars; the leader was a Rolls-Royce Phantom, followed by Mercedes and BMWs. The striking luxury appearances amazed the villagers.

"Oh wow, these cars are beautiful, must be worth hundreds of thousands!"

"Nonsense! What hundreds of thousands, I think they're worth millions!"

"Who are these big shots, coming to our Thompson Village?"

The villagers were full of curiosity.

This Thompson Village was just a small hamlet; hardly any outsiders came by. First, a group of policemen came today, and now such a luxurious convoy! It's peculiar!

It seemed the convoy was coming this way, which made them even more puzzled.

The convoy came bustlingly and stopped in front of them.

Then, the car doors opened, and out stepped one impressive figure after another, all well-dressed and imposing.

By this time, nearly the entire village was gathered around, packed tightly in layers.

"Wow, they must all be big bosses, why are they here?"

"Could they be eyeing our land to build a factory?"

The villagers speculated even more intensely, almost completely forgetting about Charlie Thompson's situation.

In their minds, these two events were likely unrelated.

However, at this moment, those perceived as big bosses surprisingly started walking towards me, greeting me warmly.
