Chapter 27 - Surprised You Couldn't Recognize Me

The night in the mountain village was quiet and serene.

I sat by the table, examining a string of jade beads in my hand under the light.

A string of twelve beads, each perfectly round and crystal-clear, with a blood-red hue and flawless appearance. The surface of the beads was covered with a layer of brilliance, looking somewhat luxurious.

To others, they could only see its luxurious exterior, but in my eyes, I could "see" the spiritual energy emanating from it.

This was a magic artifact!

For cultivators, it was an extremely important item.

A magic artifact is crafted by cultivators who gather spiritual materials and apply the Talisman Technique to refine it for defense, attack, or some other peculiar uses.

It was unknown what function this string of jade beads had.

With a heart full of curiosity, I held the jade beads and slowly infused a strand of energy into them.

Instantly, the surface of the jade beads slowly lit up, faintly revealing golden runes, which floated and shifted.

I turned off the light, and these runes became even more conspicuous, constantly changing before my eyes, like a dream.

After a careful examination, I discovered that each blood pearl was indeed an independent magic artifact with engraved runes. Upon comparing the runes, I found that eleven of them were the same, except for one, which had completely different runes engraved on it.

In the heritage I had received, there was information about Talismans, and after carefully recalling it, I recognized these runes.

Of the eleven beads, all were defensive magic artifacts, while the last one was a space artifact containing a Sumeru Mustard Dimension.

This discovery made me extremely excited.

Space artifacts are the most precious type among all magic artifacts.

I pinched this jade bead and slowly infused energy into it. Soon, I felt a pulling force emanating from the jade bead, dragging my heart spirit into it.

The next moment, I "saw" a spacious area, about three to four hundred square meters.

To my disappointment, it was empty inside.

After my heart spirit returned, I held the jade bead, feeling increasingly excited.

Having this item was like carrying a large warehouse with me; I could store anything inside and retrieve it whenever I needed it, extremely convenient.

After playing with it for a while, I put on the bracelet.

The jade beads were smooth and cold to the touch, against my skin, emitting an icy aura, which was very comfortable.

Checking the time, it was still early. I took my backpack, fetched the herbs, and began preparing medicine.

Early the next morning, I got up and made a call to Jay and Brian Anderson.

"Hey, Anderson, I've prepared the weight-loss medicine you wanted, a total of five bottles, plus two bottles for potency enhancement."

"Oh! Great, should I come over to pick them up?"

"No need, I'll deliver them to you since it's on the way."

"Alright, deliver them to the company at Brighton Plaza, you know it, right?"

"I know!" I replied, hanging up the phone.

After arranging with Mr. Wilson and President Roberts, I hopped on my little tricycle and set off.

Horizon Properties is the largest real estate company in the county, with influence throughout the whole province of Z, responsible for many renowned residential areas and buildings.

Brighton Plaza is located in a bustling area in the city center.

After a drive of over forty minutes, I entered the city center and found Brighton Plaza.

After parking the vehicle, I called Brian Anderson.

"Hey! Thompson, just hang tight, I'll be there in a while."

I acknowledged, then hung up.

Waiting for a few minutes, I glanced inside the building and had a thought.

"Why not go in and see if there are any good apartments available."

The events of the previous night had made me consider moving, and now that I was here, I might as well check out and pick a better apartment.

With over eight million in savings, I could afford a very nice apartment.

With this in mind, I walked into the building.

Inside was a spacious lobby with large architectural models arranged around. Since it was early, just the beginning of the workday, the lobby was quite empty.

Beside the models, stood several saleswomen, all in professional attire, pencil skirts, and black stockings, each tall and slender, with heavy makeup, looking fiercely glamorous.

Seeing someone enter, they each glanced over.

As saleswomen, they usually deal with all kinds of people, especially the wealthy, so naturally, they had an eye for detail, able to judge the worth of someone's attire at a glance, and whether the person was wealthy.

At the moment, Charlie still dressed as he did before, in a simple white shirt, a pair of faded jeans, though his shoes were new, they weren't worth much.

At a glance, he seemed rather shabby.

After assessing him, the saleswomen all frowned slightly.

They then withdrew their gazes and resumed chatting.

In this attire, it was impossible for him to be here to buy a house. So shabby and so young, he couldn't afford a house, likely just wandering around.

I walked into the lobby, looked around, and headed toward one of the models.

At this moment, a saleswoman glanced over again, her brows knitted in slight puzzlement.

"Hey! Are you Charlie Thompson?"

I was taken aback, then looked up at the saleswoman, showing a puzzled expression, hesitantly saying, "You are...?"

"You really are Charlie Thompson! It's been years, hasn't it? You've changed a bit, but your attire is still the same."

Seeing me looking puzzled, she said, "I'm Heather Thomas! Surprised you couldn't recognize me!"

She spoke with a hint of pride, as if she was very confident about her appearance.

"Oh! It's you! Almost didn't recognize you!" I said.

This Heather Thomas was my junior high classmate, but we only had a normal classmate relationship, not much familiarity or connection.

In my impression, Heather was rather snobbish, during junior high, she started mingling with rich kids, never casting a glance at a village kid like me.

After junior high graduation, I heard she went to a vocational high school, and I hadn't heard anything about her since.

Unexpectedly, I encountered her here.

The saying "girls transform at eighteen" seemed true; over the years, she had indeed transformed, becoming fashionable and glamorous, coupled with makeup, making her unrecognizable to me.

"Charlie, did you get into university? I remember you used to have pretty good grades."

Heather Thomas said.

I shook my head, "No, I dropped out midway, now I just deliver packages."

Heather was stunned, then uttered an oh.

"I see..."

Her expression changed slightly, with a barely perceptible hint of disdain in her eyes.

To her, delivering packages was quite an inferior job.

Those saleswomen also frowned slightly, showing a bit of contempt.

"So you're a delivery guy, that explains it..."
