After listening to her, I was silent for a moment.
"Give your family a call, your mom must be really worried."
Melissa Lopez pouted and said defiantly, "I don't want to, every time I call her, she'll definitely persuade me to attend that stupid banquet."
"It's just a lousy banquet, what's the point of going? Going there just means getting all those dirty looks, why should I make things difficult for myself?"
"That little brat, every time she sees me, she mocks me, ridicules me, and constantly flaunts how rich her family is, as if I'm shamelessly trying to curry favor with them for their money."
Melissa got more and more agitated as she spoke.
With that, she threw her head back and downed the tea in one go.
Her pretty face was full of frustration.
I couldn't help but laugh.
"Really not going to call?" I said.
"Not calling!" Melissa said firmly.
"Really?"
"Really!"
"Then... are you just going to let it be?"
