Rowan picked up a golden fruit and threw it over. Owen reacted extremely quickly, tilting his head to dodge it.
The sound of eating roasted meat became much quieter.
Recently, he had been beaten by the Omegina so much that he had almost developed a conditioned reflex; dodging a fruit that could break a head was no problem.
Owen lowered his head to eat the meat, trying to think of a way to stop the Omegina from rejecting him so much. Approaching was difficult enough, let alone more contact to get the Omegina used to his presence.
It really was all in vain.
The broken relationship was now much worse than before. Previously, the Omegina was very natural with his physical touches; even holding hands didn't bother him much.
