Chapter 10 - Perfect Timing

My ears are falling off today, - the woman - Must've caught a chill. Oh... my dear Simon, I'm such a poor, miserable soul! And no one's around to comfort me.

But you've got me, Even if I'm far away. - Her stoic nephew comforted her.

And you've got me too, - Grofo said, stepping into her line of sight and Roman did the same, though unlike his rebellious brother, he had actually wiped his shoes properly and was a bit delayed.

Kristina lifted her annoyed eyes from the screen and started talking to her nephew about the newcomers:

They think I didn't notice them at first. What people! Poor me, poor me, nobody lets me What do you think they want, Simon? -

No idea, Auntie, but I gotta get to work now, so… can I call you back later? - The guy

Surprisingly, Kristina took pity on him and told (or commanded?) her dear nephew to call again in thirty minutes, or else he might overwork himself and get tired. Then she ended the call, grabbed a stress - relief head massager, and started digging it into her scalp, grumbling:

Guys, make it quick. I've got a raging migraine today, so if you're looking for Valdis - she's out on assignment. Come back tomorrow. What if I promise you a foot massage - will you call the officer and get her here? - Grofo winked slyly, while Roman cringed and even turned a little green, now competing for the title of the sickest person in the room. I can't! - Kristina - I'd love to, but child labor... exploitation... all that stuff. I just can't agree, even if I really want to.

.. we're actually adults...

What's going on here?!

The room filled with the smell of trouble- almost literally- as the police station door was nearly

kicked off its hinges. Two extremely disheveled individuals stormed in, wearing enormous brown sheepskin coats, heavy combat boots, and with tangled, unbrushed hair covering their faces.

Behind them stood a much smaller woman in a police uniform, clearly pushing them forward and looking thoroughly pissed off.

Not only are Batilda and Erik acting out again, but Grofo's here too? Did you all get together and decide to test my patience today? - The cop growled, furrowing her Roman squeaked in fear and jerked back so hard he knocked over the basin of water, spilling half of it across the floor.

Kristina let out a long, tortured howl, then bent down with a dark look and handed Roman a rag. The guilty party immediately shoved it into Grofo's hands with a pleading:

Bro, help me out, my body still aches from that

My whole body's twisting and breaking too! - whined the Grofo sighed, crouched down, and started wiping up the mess, setting the plastic bag beside him. Please don't defrost and start stinking, hand. It's too warm in here, - he thought nervously. The cop lined up the detainees against the They leaned heavily into it, almost collapsing,

leaving enormous smears of grime from their long - neglected outerwear. A yellowish trickle began

running down under Erik.

Don't tell me you're doing THAT right now! - The officer exploded, shaking with fury. But noticing Grofo diligently cleaning up his brother's mess, she calmed slightly and asked Kristina for a second rag. Now Valdis was cleaning near the wall, nudging the mooing twins aside. She bent down and tried wiping up the dribble, only smearing it more due to lack of skill. Let me show you how it's done, - Grofo slid over, having finished his own mop - up He took the rag from the cop and got to work.

The twins stared down at him with bleary, bloodshot eyes, offering commentary:

.. nooo... mmhm… Yeah, such helpful advice, you filthy bastards, - the cop - How about you help the Grofo instead? When are you gonna stop drinking and start acting like human beings? .. yeah…

Ignoring them, Grofo whispered conspiratorially to Valdis:

There's a severed hand in the We found it while walking near Övrekjäla.

Now it wasn't just Roman whose face had turned green. The cop took a few jerky steps toward the bag, peeked inside, and slumped even further before grabbing it and exclaiming:

Grofo, stay here and be ready to tell me everything. I'm heading to the mayor- I have to inform him immediately. And you, shitheads, - she turned to the twins, who'd started dozing off but were now startled awake by her yelling, - don't even think about sneaking off. Don't make me cuff you. Sit still and behave.

Once she confirmed everyone had their assignments clear, she bolted out the door and into the darkness of the Swedish evening.

Silence fell for a second- then a FaceTime ringtone rang out as Kristina answered a call from her nephew:

Oh, perfect timing, Did you forget to tell me something? Never mind. Help this young man out with your professional advice- how do we get urine off a wall?

Several angry glares turned on her immediately, two of which were extremely drunk.

There was an awkward cough, and then a hesitant voice came from what sounded like Stockholm:

Auntie, I was actually calling to ask if I could come visit you for vacation, but... I see you're having plenty of fun without me. Anyway, about cleaning up, uh, human waste- here's what you First, you'll need… -
