Chapter 1 - Battle Addict (1)

A busy day, and a very stuffy crowd in the middle of the city of Lucille, whispers and gossip could be heard at every corner.

"Hey, have you heard?" mutters one voice in the crowd.

"Yeah, look at the sphynx news board", replies another in a voice of shock.

"Yeah, they've caught the attention of one of the most popular global news centres. They've gone big this time," another speaks, holding his breath, sounding so abrupt.

"Jeez, those two really went and did it, and in the process, probably made 95% of our city's population their worst enemy" A woman snarls in the crowd, holding out the newspaper.

The top of the newspaper title reads in staggering words.

"First prince of Lucille murdered, killers still at large"

"Lefty, it seems we have finally reached the end of our journey here at Lucille"

A strong-sounding voice of a dominant woman speaks out, her face and clothes under a ragged cloak, only being able to see her silver bangs edge out of the cloak.

"I see that, let's head to the city of Luminum. I heard there are some amazing Synx users there, and a coliseum too!"

The voice of a young, energetic 17 year old boy yells out, also cloaked in his small shark hat, peeking out of his ragged cloak as both cloaked figures stand on top of the many roofs and buildings in this beautiful city.

Massive towers, factories, houses and buildings all made of oak wood, brick and smooth granite in general, spread for miles on end as the sun rises on this most outrageous day.

"I never thought you'd actually join me, Lucille, though, after all, he was your older brother, it's quite psychopathic", I say, full of energy, finally letting a sly grin widen on my face in pure satisfaction.

"Well as much as it's unfortunate, his ability allows me to maximise mine",

She erupts, as we jump from rooftop to rooftop, closer to the edge of the long-saturated grey walls that surround this city.

"Also, I've made it very clear! My name is Angela Duex Lucille, I'm royal you know, at least try to pretend you have manners you idiot!"

She furiously roars, as I begin to laugh to myself at her onslaught of angry insults.

Our plan started two weeks ago, ever since the day we met, there's been an unspeakable connection that words can't explain, it's almost as if we both knew we were destined for something in this world.

I'll walk you guys through, all the way back to the day we met, the day I was shown a new way of using my Synx.

2 weeks ago, The Crowning Of Arthur Duex Lucille.

In black leather joggers with many pockets on their sides, with a dark scabby grey hoodie, and black hair smoothed down by the shark hat.

He seems to be in an outside pot making shop, using a multitude of materials, with his red and blue gloves on.

"Hey lefty, I need a hand!"

An old man big and tall, with a large amount of muscles and a beard grey long and knotted beard, bald with sharp eyes and a deep voice.

"Coming Mr Greysir"

A very unmotivated Lefty groans out, following him to a workshop garage kind of room with pots and machines everywhere.

"Can you use your synx boy, I need you to edit this diamond into the centre of this pot, it's coming from a high paying customer, so it needs absolute care"

He speaks out holding up a noble silver and golden pot, fancy with raw expensive materials and placing it on an empty desk.

"damn, that's a very expensive pot, if we drop that, your shop will go into debt"

I say to him, chuckling at the pot, but staring at its rare materials.

To give you a quick rundown, this is Mr Greysir, he adopted me and raised me in this shop, conveniently, I was born with a synx that popularised his shop for accessories and decorations.

All I heard about my parents is that my mother died giving birth to me, and my dad died in war this was the closest relative that wanted me, in other words, my godfather.

"Okay, any specific shape?"

I ask with assurance, placing the diamond in my left hand with the blue glove.

"I don't know boy, something a noble lady would like? Just get to it!"

He yells out agitated now, just waiting on Lefty's job to finish.

"Alright jeez old man"

I say teasingly, my left hand glowed out the front of my palm with a light green.

The diamond began to shift into place perfectly, shaping and resizing like goo, before solidifying again, the diamond embedded inside shaped as a heart, shining.

As you probably have already guessed, the term "synx" is the specific ability we were born with.

In this world, there are estimated to be over 1 billion people walking the planet, each person born with a unique trait or ability, which affects many different businesses, organisations and civilisations were affected.

My synx title is "left operator", and by name, it's easy to deduce that I was named after my synx.

I can edit the materials of anything with my left hand, so when I'm in the workshop, I can easily repair furniture and reshape objects that people request, that's all it's really good for.

"So, considering this looks like noble furniture, who's buying?"

I ask the old man, yawning, tightening my glove, then looking up at him, my expression curious.

"Well, boy it was someone much higher than a noble"

He says as my eyes widen in shock.

"What, like royalty?"

I ask, smirking but sweating a little, realising how careful I need to be handling this.

"Yeah, something like that"

He reveals this but ends the conversation, not wanting to talk more about the matter.

"Come on old man, tell me mor-"

Before I could finish, the workshop garage door opened, and the streets of the city were revealed, voices instantly heightening in sound, the wind blowing through with a girl's figure at the front of the door, now closing it before staring back at us, smiling wickedly.

Long silver hair and blue eyes, wearing a fitted, midriff-baring top in broad red or gold accents with a crimson flowing cloak.

Golden arm gauntlets, as if always ready for battle, that stretch and cover her wrist and forearm.

She has rich leather pants sewn neatly with a brown accent, with battle leather shoes, a waistband/belt with a dagger in a sheath hooked onto it.

"Your highness, it's an honour to see you again"

Mr Greysir speaks sort of sweetly despite his looks and deep accent, getting on one knee and bowing.

"I see, silver hair is a trait of royalty. I can identify that you're not an imposter, and judging by your small height and weight, I can only assume you're the third princess of Lucille, correct?"

I ask politely, gazing upon her at first sight, but something felt off looking at her, it was like the space between me and her warped, like I had a sudden adrenaline high.

And judging by that smirk and widened eyes from her, it was clear she felt the exact same way.

"Excuse my boy, he's a tad bit off the sanity scale"

He says abruptly, trying to catch my attention.

I immediately get on one knee and bow my head, sweating a little just like a little kid who knows he's in for it.

"How interesting, you speak to me without introducing yourself and speak impolitely, you didn't even recognise me and had to base my identity from my appearance, you pique my interest"

She slowly approaches, towering over me, her smirk widening further, looking at me as if finding a rich treasure, an artwork to admire.

"To tell you the truth, I won't arrest you, in fact, I'm not even supposed to be here, so I won't cause a scene"

She says, exhaling loudly, which relieves my stressed, sweating and trembling godfather.

Her eyes dart from Mr Greysir, back to me, looking upon me, before slowly turning to the pot I just modified.

"What a beautiful creation, Mr Greysir, was this one behind this?"

She says with admiration, her eyes glowing as she moves side to side, gleaming at it.

Mr Greysir and both stand up, walking beside her on either side while she stares at the pot.

"Yeah, he was, his synx is a very useful one, despite my own synx to perfect anything I make, his helps me save time, rather than remaking it if I made a mistake, I can easily use his synx to repair and edit."

Mr Greysir replies informatively and clearly, speaking with respect.

"I see, what a beautiful ability, to be so blessed, I'm surprised you're not in any sort of guild, clan or squad?"

She asks me, looking up at me in confusion, as I look back at her, looking a little overwhelmed by her presence.

"My brother is currently being crowned by my father. He'll officially be king of Lucille. I'm supposed to be spectating with my sister, but I got bored thinking of it"

She says, walking away from it, slowly stepping away as she suddenly jumps forward toward me, looking up close into my deep, dark ocean-like eyes.

"Mr greysir, are you in current need of this boy?"

She asks in curiosity as if that could change now.

"Not urgently, actually, I've been meaning to place him into a form of education or send him out to adventure, Is there a reason why you ask your highness?"

His grumpy voice heightens again as he gives her full respect.

"I would like to take him back with me to the kingdom if that's okay?"

My eyes and jaw stay wide open throughout their conversation. I'm in total shock, looking at both of them, my pupils switching between both people in front of me.

My own carer is selling me off!

Am I about to go through a life changing event by serving just one customer?

I realise in absolute shock, trying to brace myself as this conversation becomes something life-changing.
