KNOX
My breath locked in my throat. My chest tightened. My mouth opened and closed, but no words came out.
I seemed to forget how to breathe for a moment as she stepped into the room until her lips crashed onto mine. That snapped me out of the daze.
I tore my mouth from hers, nearly shoving her back toward the door, but I didn't. I just stared at her, then at Dante, then back at her again.
"Miss me?" she whispered, her smile wide, those blue eyes gleaming with a mischief I knew too well.
But no, this wasn't the reunion I was expecting. I wasn't supposed to see her again. She should be dead.
At least as far as I knew, she'd died in my arms. Four fucking years ago. In my arms. And now here she was—alive, healthy, like nothing had happened?
No.
I turned to Dante, silently demanding an explanation, but he only shrugged.
"I didn't bring her here for a reunion. You can do whatever shit you want once she's done with my job," Dante said, gruffly.
"Yes, Alpha," Claudia drawled.
