Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: My Type-Moon Game Came True?

Tap! Tap! Tap!

In the dim room, a boy was lazily tapping at his keyboard, the computer monitor lighting up his rather handsome face.

On the screen, a special interface had just popped up.

[ENEMY DEFEATED!]

Seeing the notification appear, the boy couldn't help showing a satisfied smile.

"Finally cleared all CGs. That was really tough."

Alvin had pulled almost three all-nighters. On the first day, when he received that mysterious package, he was full of suspicion.

Because inside the package was a USB stick, and on it a small game called "Greedy Type-Moon."

At first he wondered if game ads were this advanced now. He hadn't even spent money yet, and they had already mailed him a USB stick.

But once he opened the game, Alvin was stunned.

More than several thousand special sprites, countless complicated branching choices, plus one gorgeous side-story after another and the special CGs unlocked by raising character favorability… the level of immersion this game offered was simply unbeatable. [T/N: CG = Cutscene Graphics.]

Not to mention some special CG animations that were worth appreciating again and again.

Like Morgan le Fay in the bath with Alvin, or office-worker Artoria, and so on.

Even now, Alvin would occasionally open "CG Replay" to appreciate them.

As for what exactly was in CG Replay, there was no need to say more here. People with high moral standards would have no desire to know.

In short, in order to unlock those special CGs and achievements, Alvin had been working hard to clear the game since three days ago. If the place he lived now wasn't called the "Clock Tower," and if there weren't special "Life Extension" potions, he probably would have passed out long ago.

Click!

As he moved the mouse across the screen, Alvin tapped lightly on the keyboard, staring intently at the monitor.

[You have obtained the special achievement: The Watchman of Camelot.]

Only when that window finally popped up did Alvin breathe a long sigh of relief.

Yes… after three days of battle and countless complicated choices, Alvin had finally achieved a special hidden achievement

[The Watchman of Camelot.]

Originally, the main route of this chapter was for Alvin to act as a villain who destroys the Camelot Empire and ends the Age of Gods.

However, to get the hidden CG and hidden achievement, Alvin chose another bad ending.

This ending did not destroy the Camelot Empire. The player needed to max out Morgan le Fay's and Artoria's favorability, then pretend to accept Morgan's temptation and join her in launching a rebellion to defeat King Arthur.

At the end of the story, the player would descend upon Britain in the form of a "demon dragon." At that moment, there were two choices: one was to help Morgan le Fay defeat King Arthur.

The other was to sacrifice oneself to fulfill King Arthur.

Alvin chose the latter.

First he attracted the hatred of the entire empire, then Artoria severed that hatred and became the hero king hailed by everyone.

If he could have worn a mask, Alvin would definitely have given himself a mask and taken the name "Zero." [T/N: Code Geass reference.]

Too perfect… absolutely flawless.

Even now, when Alvin thought back on the in-game plot, he still felt unsatisfied, like he wanted more.

Just as Alvin moved the mouse and hummed a happy tune—

Knock! Knock!

Suddenly, a knocking came from the door.

"Alvin, the Ore Studies class starts soon. Don't be late again," A girl's lazy and pleasant voice followed from outside.

"Be right there. You go ahead to class first, Reines," Alvin called back.

After a while, the footsteps outside faded.

Alvin felt a bit emotional. When he first crossed into the Type-Moon world and became one of the students of the Clock Tower, he had been in despair.

Because he knew exactly how dangerous a world full of magi was, not to mention the occasional Holy Grail War.

But since he was already here, he adjusted and settled down in this world.

There were still fifteen minutes before class. Before going, he might as well enjoy the newly unlocked special CG one more time… Alvin clicked "CG Replay," and countless beautiful and indescribable images filled his sight.

Among them was a newly unlocked CG: The Witch's Regret.

Morgan le Fay, long hair loose and a crown on her head, held a glass of red wine as she slumped on the throne. Her expression was dazed, red wine flowing down her snow-white slender legs, dyeing the pale skin of her feet beneath her skirt with a bright red sheen.

Her small red lips were tightly pressed together, and the gaze she lifted toward the screen was full of confusion and loss.

Even through a screen, such a stunning scene stirred the imagination.

"I guess this really is big sister King. Tsk! Those thighs, that indecent chest. Looks amazing, Hehehe!"

Tick! Tick! Tick!

The clock on the wall kept moving forward. Just as Alvin was about to click the CG, a window suddenly popped up on the screen:

[You have triggered the special event: Death of the White Dragon. You will receive an absolutely immersive experience and begin a brief yet beautiful new life.]

[Accept / Reject]

"I already collected all CGs. How is there still a DLC?" [T/N: DLC = Downloadable Content]

Seeing the notification, Alvin froze for a moment, a hint of confusion in his eyes.

Curious, he moved the mouse and pressed Accept.

Thunk!

In an instant his brain felt as if struck by something fierce. Alvin felt the world spin before everything went black.

A dull thump later, Alvin collapsed onto the desk and his consciousness quickly faded.

———

But only a few seconds passed before his awareness began to reform.

When Alvin opened his eyes, what first appeared in his vision wasn't his surroundings, but a special deep blue countdown.

[Countdown — 42:59:59]

At the same time, the system prompt quietly appeared.

[After your death, Artoria and Morgan le Fay turned against each other. The blackened Morgan le Fay left Camelot alone to seek a way to resurrect you.]

[You have triggered a special storyline: Camelot After Alvin's Death]

KABOOM!

Staring at the system text, Alvin felt as if his mind exploded, leaving him frozen.

While he was still lost in confusion, the countdown ticked again.

[Time remaining: 42:59:58]

———

Artoria woke up by knocking.

"My king, news just arrived from outside the palace, it seems to concern your royal sister."

It was Gawain's respectful and cautious voice.

Since Alvin's death years ago, the once bright and sunny blonde girl had slowly become quiet and withdrawn.

It had been Alvin who pulled her out of the shadows, but now with his passing, it felt as if the innocence and happiness he had always protected for her had been taken away as well.

The Knights of the Round Table were helpless. They could only watch silently as the knight king they respected changed from a young girl into the emotionless ruler Arthur was now.

No… more like the Lion King.

Everyone in the Camelot Empire said that the way their king looked at people resembled that of a lion, full of majesty and danger.

"Come in."

A cold, calm voice came from inside the room.

Gawain slowly opened the door and saw Artoria seated at her desk.

She wore a crown, her smooth golden hair simply tied up, strands falling loosely around her noble and stunning face.

Compared to her once youthful self, she now looked far more mature and beautiful, rather similar to the "witch" Morgan le Fay.

"What happened to Morgan le Fay?", Artoria asked while reviewing documents, not looking up.

Gawain hesitated slightly, "A report came from the front lines today. It seems traces of a silver knight were sighted near the Camlann Plains. I was wondering if it might be related to your royal sister?"

After Alvin's death, Artoria and Morgan had an extremely violent conflict. After that, the "witch" took everything from her workshop and left Camelot's palace alone.

Since then, the two sides had clashed repeatedly. In Artoria's eyes, if not for Morgan, Alvin would never have died.

And Morgan… was jealous that the king had everything, yet had taken even the man she loved.

Seeking a way to resurrect Alvin, Morgan had been conducting extremely dangerous experiments in secret all these years. Resurrecting the White Dragon.

But someone already dead, even if brought back, could never truly be the same person again.

'That bastard died easily enough, yet left behind this mess…', Gawain sighed inwardly.

Tap! Tap! Tap!

Artoria drummed her fingers gently on the desk, thinking.

After a while, she slowly shook her head, "Her real base shouldn't be there. I know her too well. With her personality, she wouldn't let herself be found so easily."

She thought a moment more, "But send someone to check anyway… there might still be clues."

"The White Dragon finally died… if it is revived by my sister, everything he sacrificed would become meaningless."

"Yes," Gawain lowered his head, "Who should I send?"

"Sir Lancelot isn't at the palace, so you lead the team. Bring Agravain as well. If there's any trace of my sister, report to me immediately," Artoria said.

"Understood."

Gawain paused, then added hesitantly, "Also, several people claiming to be 'transmigrators' were arrested in the palace today. I had them interrogated. They're all residents of the royal city, but none have memories of their past."

"Additionally… they all say they come from a place called the Clock Tower."
