Chapter 190 - Chapter 190: Preparations for the Holy Grail Summoning

When Morgan decided to get rid of the King Arthur, she already knew about the existence of the scabbard. And she was very clear that as long as the scabbard remained, Artoria could never be defeated.

She stole the scabbard and hid it in a lake somewhere within the royal palace. Only after that did she set off the shocking war between the Red Dragon and the White Dragon of Britain.

'Didn't expect you, with those bold brows and upright look, to still have a hidden card in the end,' After hearing Morgan's explanation, Alvin couldn't help but glance at the woman beside him with a strange expression.

"Why didn't you give it to Lily?", Alvin asked.

The two sisters weren't at the point of cutting ties forever anymore. In the end, Morgan had already come to terms with her own heart.

"You think Lily didn't know the scabbard was missing?"

Morgan said calmly, "I mentioned this to her before, but she had no intention of taking it back."

"She thinks you'll need it more in the future."

When Alvin was in Britain, he was a Briton. But at the Clock Tower, he was a "modern person."

The White Dragon's furnace core did grant him immense magical power, but in lands where the Age of Gods had completely faded, the scabbard might prove to be a huge help at critical moments.

"What about you? You don't need it either?", Alvin asked instinctively.

"I'm the same as Lily. We're both Britons, and we'll fade away in the future Age of Gods. But you're different… in the future, the scabbard will definitely help you."

Morgan's tone was extremely calm, as if she were stating something utterly ordinary.

Alvin looked at her without thinking.

Her amber-like eyes were clear and still, bright and transparent, as if no emotion could be seen within them.

The way Morgan gave her affection had always been like this. Quiet. Done in the shadows. Never asking for anything in return.

Even though she knew that once the Age of Gods receded, Britain itself would gradually collapse, her tone remained steady, as if she had long prepared herself to face all of it calmly.

"Didn't expect I called you here just to give you this, did you?"

Noticing the complicated look on Alvin's face, Morgan's lips curved slightly.

She stood up and walked to the lakeside, reaching out and grabbing toward the scabbard at the center of the lake.

The scabbard, glowing with a soft golden light, suddenly flew toward Morgan and landed steadily in her hand.

She spread her arms and turned gracefully in front of Alvin. Sunlight made her ornate court dress look especially sacred, her pale skin seeming to glow faintly, like a goddess descending into the mortal world.

Morgan slowly raised the scabbard in her right hand and smiled, "Looks good, doesn't it?"

If not for Uther's choice back then, perhaps she would have been like Artoria in her youth, always an innocent and pure girl.

Looking at the breathtaking woman under the sunlight, for a brief moment, Alvin felt his heartbeat pick up.

He quickly coughed and said, "Yeah… very beautiful."

Morgan's smile grew even brighter as she said casually, "Actually, besides the scabbard, there's something else I want to give you."

"What is it?"

Alvin asked instinctively.

Morgan opened her right hand. In her palm, a dagger-sized weapon quietly came into view.

"The Penetrating Blade of Gold?"

Alvin said subconsciously.

He recognized it. As a mystic code, the Penetrating Blade of Gold could pierce into the gaps of flesh, mind, and soul, and separate the soul from the body.

In legends, it could even transform into a scythe, a sword, and various other weapons.

But… why was she giving him both her and Lily's things all of a sudden?

"The Penetrating Blade of Gold is one of the mystic codes I created. The scabbard is closely tied to King Arthur… even in history, they are among the most representative items."

Alvin's eyes shifted slightly as he vaguely realized something.

As if guessing his thoughts, Morgan smiled faintly and said, "Even in a Holy Grail War, if you use them as catalysts for summoning Heroic Spirits, you'll definitely be able to summon me and Lily."

At this point, Alvin fully understood what she meant.

He said instinctively, "You want me, in the future at the Clock Tower, to use these two as holy relics and summon you as Servants?"

Morgan neither confirmed nor denied, simply nodding with a smile, "Why do you look a bit hesitant. Don't tell me you've hidden quite a few little lovers in the Clock Tower and you're worried Lily and I might find out?"

Although she was smiling brightly, Alvin felt a strange unease in his chest. He straightened his expression and said, "I'm just considering the feasibility of a Holy Grail summoning, besides, you know exactly who I interact with at the Clock Tower."

Morgan narrowed her long eyes and looked him over carefully, then snorted softly, "I doubt you'd dare."

Come to think of it, aside from Sajyou Manaka, the girl who had gotten entangled with Alvin during the Fourth Holy Grail War, he really didn't seem to have any other ambiguous relationships with women.

If she had to mention one, the student she'd been teaching recently, Tohsaka Rin, did seem to have a good impression of him. But the girl was still young, unclear about feelings, probably not even understanding what love really was.

At most, it was just a bit of admiration toward an older man.

A faint smile soon appeared on Morgan's cool and delicate face as she said softly, "Go back. And check how Rin's doing with her studies."

———

[Time remaining before return: 00:00:30:00]

In the last half hour, Morgan gave Tohsaka Rin another round of guidance. To avoid disturbing them, Alvin stayed at a distance, watching without interrupting.

When Rin successfully released a mana bullet again using the core of her magic, Morgan showed a rare hint of approval.

"Not bad. Much better than during the day."

Rin immediately beamed, "That's because you taught me well."

'Still remembers to be modest at a time like this,' Morgan raised an eyebrow slightly and said lightly, "Don't celebrate too early. This is just basic magecraft. You still have a long road ahead."

To be honest, Tohsaka Rin really was a child with decent talent. At first, Morgan only taught her because of Alvin, but now, she didn't mind teaching her a bit more.

'Thinking about it, the people this guy brings back all seems to have decent talent,' With that thought, Morgan's gaze drifted toward Alvin in the distance.

He was looking at them as well. When he noticed her gaze, he immediately raised his hand and waved with a smile.

Following Morgan's line of sight, Rin suddenly asked curiously, "Do you like Lord White Dragon?"

Morgan's expression stayed calm at first, but once the question registered and she noticed the little girl's curious eyes, a faint blush appeared on her cold, delicate face.

She glanced at the girl and said coolly, "Why are you asking so much? Go practice your magecraft."

'So tsundere,' Rin muttered inwardly, then looked toward the boy not far away.

In the gentle afternoon sunlight, the boy in black clothes sat on the grass beneath a tree, raising his hand and waving toward them.

A breeze passed through, and shifting shadows of leaves moved across the ground. His rather handsome face seemed touched by a warm glow.

Rin watched that figure for a long, long time, as if trying to engrave this dreamy and beautiful scene deep into her memory.

Years later, when Tohsaka Rin had become the head of the Tohsaka family, whenever she dreamed of this scene again, she would think of the boy's bright smile, and feel a faint sense of longing and nostalgia.

[Time remaining before return: 30 Seconds]

In the final thirty seconds, Rin first said her goodbyes to Morgan and Alvin, then quietly waited for the countdown to end.

When the deep blue countdown reached "1," a white light completely swallowed all the travelers.

———

Rin slowly opened her eyes.

A warm and familiar environment came into view. She was sitting quietly on a soft, classical sofa, while the clock on the wall ticked forward.

"I'm back."

Rin looked down at her hands and murmured to herself.

During this period, she had been traveling between Fuyuki and ancient Britain, and had even been taught by Morgan le Fay in the royal palace.

Just thinking about it made everything feel unreal.

She took out a piece of black cloth from her chest.

From the tattered fragment, one could clearly feel an ancient, weighty sense of history.

Even though she had only obtained it recently, there was no doubt it carried an incredibly long past.

A corner of the White Dragon's cloak.

If she used this, then in a future Holy Grail War, she might really be able to summon the White Dragon.

At that thought, Rin's gaze softened slightly.

At that moment, faint footsteps suddenly came from outside the door.

Rin looked up instinctively and saw a girl in a school uniform who had appeared behind her at some point.

After seeing her clearly, Rin almost blurted out, "Sakura?"

———

Tick! Tock!

The clock in the hall ticked in the silent room.

Two girls of similar age stood facing each other. Rin instinctively looked toward the girl at the entrance.

Sakura Matou was looking at the black cloth fragment in Rin's hand with a puzzled expression.

Rin instinctively hid the fragment behind her back and gave a gentle smile, "Sakura, it's so late. Why aren't you asleep yet?"

No matter how much time passed in Britain, in the modern world it was less than 0.1 seconds. But the last time Rin had traveled, it had been nighttime.

Fuyuki, this seaside town, didn't have much nightlife. Especially at Sakura's age, she should already be asleep early for her growth.

But tonight seemed different. By now, it should have been Sakura's bedtime.

A gentle look quickly appeared on Sakura's delicate, doll-like face, "I noticed you hadn't come back to your room to rest, so I wanted to check if something had happened."

"Did Father give you some kind of task, Sister?"

After the last traversal ended, Tohsaka Tokiomi had already booked a flight to London and was now at the Clock Tower seeking a way to treat the curse.

Before leaving, he had met his two daughters separately.

The task he gave Rin was to participate in the future Fifth Holy Grail War and summon the White Dragon to win.

As for Sakura, perhaps out of guilt for having "adopted" her into the Matou family, or for other reasons, he simply hoped she could grow up normally.

However, the head of the Matou family had now passed away, and the current head was Matou Kariya, who was also seriously ill.

At his insistence, Sakura still retained the title of "heir of the Matou family," and might one day truly inherit the position of head.

Placing his two daughters in separate baskets… from a magus's absolutely rational perspective, this was indeed a very reasonable approach.

But, the older sister grew up healthily in the Tohsaka family, while the younger sister lived under the shadow of the Matou family, believing her parents had long since abandoned her. Tokiomi clearly never considered how the people involved would feel.

Although Rin was still young, she had vaguely noticed that Sakura's personality had become somewhat withdrawn due to her childhood, so she took extra care of her in many things.

When she heard Sakura's question, Rin hesitated slightly, then gave a general account of what had happened recently.

Traveling to ancient Britain, being kidnapped, being saved by the White Dragon, staying in the royal palace and receiving daily instruction from Morgan, and everything involving the White Dragon.

When she heard the last part, Sakura was clearly stunned.

Her eyes flickered, and a strange look appeared in her already somewhat dim gaze.

"So… you met him in ancient Britain, Sister?"

Rin nodded gently, her gaze incredibly soft as she looked at the girl, "Sakura, before, I couldn't really understand how you felt… but now, I think I understand a little."

"When the next Holy Grail War begins, I'll definitely find a way to let you meet him."

"I see… so you've already met him?"

Sakura stared at her sister blankly. After an unknown amount of time, she finally managed to force a small smile.

"Okay."

"Thank you… Sister."
