Chapter 298 - Ch 298: Shed Blood!

‎Having calmed their uneasiness about Physique awakenings, the civilians shifted focus to the video's final threat.

"By the way, is the game company really gonna fight nations? I admit what happened to the child was really inhumane, and the government should be responsible. But threatening to change a government on the same day… isn't that excessive?"

"I think they're just empty threats. Nations aren't paper tigers—they have nukes. Destroying them wouldn't take long."

"You think that? Are you really sure the game company doesn't have weapons of their own—maybe even more powerful than nukes?"

"It's not possible. The game company only has powerful tech for gaming, not for wars."

"No, the game company…"

Civilians kept talking among themselves. They all agreed the government should take responsibility—even as strangers, they felt the child's pain deeply and feared the same could happen to anyone they loved.

But opinions split sharply on the threat itself.

The nations targeted by the warning reacted differently too.

Big nations with their own Concords in the game world knew this was no empty threat. They understood the embodied technology that turned game items into real ones, and the advanced AI Systems inside Eternal Ascendancy. The company definitely possessed far more powerful things. Announcing something like this publicly wasn't bluffing, it was a declaration backed by real capability.

The common world didn't know any of this, so they kept arguing. But the nations that knew about the game company, never dismissed its words.

They quickly created monitoring units across their countries, with strict orders to watch everything. They offered big rewards to anyone who reported abuse or extreme cruelty. Governments warned their own members: do not support or ignore these activities. If found, only death awaited them—no exceptions. They also formed special military branches dedicated to managing Awakeners. They refused to risk anything.

"These governments are really scared, even making strict rules and laws over empty threats. Scaredy cats. Hmph."

Those were the words of Morron, leader of a small nation that could not afford its own Concord and knew nothing about Eternal Ascendancy.

On the same day, the Freedom Union leader held a press conference.

"I have created our own military unit to manage Awakeners. I have also set up multiple small teams to monitor extreme behavior. We will never let our future students be treated like that. We are not irresponsible like India. I care for our future generations—I will not let anything like that happen."

Hearing this, Freedom Union civilians felt excited. They thought their leader's mind had finally started working properly. He was doing good work.

But then he added, "But I don't know what to say about that Morron. He is an idiot, really. Even bigger than me. He is narrow-minded."

After that, he left the stage, not realizing his words had ruined the civilians' excitement.

Their excitement was not ruined by the leader insulting Morron—that man absolutely deserved it. No one in the Freedom Union had any complaint about the jab; many even supported it quietly. The real reason their excitement soured was the leader's own words.

At a house, a civilian turned to his wife as they watched the live news. "Wifey, I just thought the leader's mind had finally found a cure. But now I can see it's not…"

His wife replied, "You're right… who says 'idiot' to himself just to insult others…"

"Really… worthy of our nation's leader… haha."

They both laughed. Just thinking about the accident made them laugh. They were not alone. Civilians were laughing all over the country. And not just their own—people in other nations were laughing too. But even after seeing all this laughing throughout the country, the Freedom Union leader still did not understand what he had said wrong.

On the other hand, the Indian government was the most affected. Mordan was now panicking. He was scared. Because he not only knew the technology level of Eternal Ascendancy—he also knew the terrifying being behind it. And the incident had happened in his own country. He surely knew there were many other accidents like this happening all over the country on a daily basis.

So he had to start the work today! No—not today, from now on! He had to quickly stop every torture and abuse! He could not let those happen!

He absolutely could not make any mistake now. Otherwise the government would change, and he knew the real meaning of "government change"—it never happened peacefully. He himself as the leader would be implicated in it. And if he managed to survive the change alive, he is not going to cry over "what i will do in future after losing the position"—he was a Cultivator now, he had confidence to handle most things even after losing his position.

Instead! The thing he was most worried about was Sir Heart's reaction! The person behind Eternal Ascendancy! The person who had likely ordered that warning.

"If I can't control those activities, Sir Heart will surely change the government here with his powerful methods, and even if I live through it, I will lose all the support from him. I will not be able to get anything from Sir Heart. I will also lose my access to Eternal Ascendancy. I will just become bottom trash. No! I don't want that, I have to quickly stop those activities, now!! Let's call them, they should now support the government. They should support me!"

Just as he finished his sentence, he realized his mistake. He quickly corrected it. "NO! They are not under me. They didn't work for me or my government. They are created through the nation contribution! Not me or the government! We are just an intermediate, nothing more!"

He realized his thoughts were wrong. And the same likely happened with his own government members—they also probably thought this nation was their own house, letting them do anything they wanted. And this same thought had created that accident.

Mordan decided. He would completely erase these thoughts from everyone's mind! Even if he had to shed blood!
