Later that day, Kelsey came to the waiting room.
"Well, that's a nice surprise," Kelsey said, seeing the three of them having a conversation.
"Oh, hello, Kelsey. It's nice to see you.
"Hi," the three of them greeted her.
"Well, it's good to see that you three are getting along again," Kelsey said. "And it's good timing, because you guys have a mission."
The moment they heard that, they all sat on the opposite couch. John was the most excited one, so they all focused on her, ready to hear what kind of mission they had.
"Well, the mission I'm gonna send you on is pretty simple. You guys need to catch a newbie location spotter."
Then she explained what a location spotter is.
"It's basically someone who finds places that a gang could use for whatever purposes. Like the Gunshot nightclub. That place that was so out of sight nobody knew a gang was there? It was found by a location spotter. So naturally, location spotters are on the priority list of SIED. After all, we can't have those guys running around giving gangs a place to operate," Kelsey said.
"Got it. So does that mean he's dangerous?" John asked.
"No, he's completely harmless," Kelsey replied. "He's just a kid trying to get some cash. He probably won't get in trouble either, since it appears he hasn't done anything serious so far."
"Wait… if this guy is harmless, then why not send the police to take him out of his apartment?" Kai asked, confused.
"Well, that's simple," Kelsey said. "We don't actually have any real evidence of his crimes yet. And that's why you're here. You guys are gonna catch him in the act."
She looked at Ren.
"And what I mean is Ren is gonna go to him as a fake buyer, and he'll be recording the whole conversation as evidence, so we can catch him later. It's a very simple plan."
The three of them nodded along, and Ren was already thinking of what kind of disguise he should wear… or maybe it was unnecessary. He wasn't really famous.
"Oh, but remember this," Kelsey said, catching their attention. "If something goes wrong and it ends up with him running, be careful—because Potter has a mobility-type ability."
Ren chuckled a bit. "A spotter named Potter? Seriously?"
Kelsey just looked at him seriously, and that made him go quiet.
"Anyways," she continued, "I will send you the location of the mission right now, so get moving."
Later, Ren was waiting in a random alleyway, just leaning on the wall and watching YouTube videos on his phone, casually relaxing. This was the spot where they were gonna be meeting Potter. Ren was on his phone so he didn't seem suspicious.
I mean yeah, it's kind of a weird place to do that, but just sitting there waiting with nothing to do would be much more suspicious.
John was on a rooftop, watching him, and Kai was on the other side of the building waiting. The both of them were there to try to catch Potter in case he escaped.
Ren was still on his phone until he felt someone next to him. When he looked, it was a brown-haired kid the same age as him with glasses. It was Potter, their target.
But Ren didn't react. He just ignored him and continued watching his phone until he heard the question.
"Hey… do you know how many books are in the library?"
Kelsey already informed them that Potter uses a password before he starts talking about business, and they need to answer it. And she told them the password.
Ren nodded and said, "I think there are seven books in the library."
Potter nodded back. "Wait for me for a second."
Then he walked away and turned around the corner.
Ren had a gut feeling that something wasn't right. The interaction was simple, but it was off.
Why does he need me to wait for a second? Isn't his whole job information? And he has all that information on him, so why does he need to go?
It was obviously off.
So Ren walked slowly towards the corner Potter turned away from and peeked… and he saw Potter running away.
"Dammit," Ren muttered under his breath, and used his earpiece to talk to the rest.
"Potter is running. Let's move."
And with that, Kai and John started running after Potter.
Potter, while he was running, grabbed something from the side—and that was a broom. He quickly got on top of it, and he started floating with the broom and moving fast.
Ren laughed seeing this.
"Potter is riding a broom—"
And that made Kai laugh too.
"Wait, seriously… are we actually chasing Harry Potter?"
Kai and Ren were in complete disbelief from this situation, and Kai couldn't wait until he sees it in person. He's currently trying to catch him from a different direction.
"Guys, what are you talking about? Who is Harry Potter? Is he someone dangerous?" John asked, not knowing what the two of them were talking about.
"Don't worry about it," Ren said. "Keep chasing."
John was chasing after Potter through the rooftops. John used his charge ability on his foot to Leap extremely fast, crossing multiple rooftops in a single footstep, and he used another charge on the landing so he could land without a scratch. It was effective, but at the same time loud, so Potter already noticed that John was chasing him, and he increased his speed to the maximum.
John wanted to shoot Potter, but he knew that wasn't a good idea. The situation wasn't desperate enough for that, and considering he got in trouble for resorting to violence pretty easily in the last mission, doing it again won't end well for him, so he continued chasing.
Then John noticed something and immediately reported it to Ren and Kai.
That guy… Potter. He seems to be floating on his broom, only moving near the ground. That probably means he doesn't have the ability to fly with it"
That was good news.
It meant they still had the chance to catch him.
Ren, who stopped trying to chase after Potter since he determined he doesn't have a chance to catch up, instead focused on his phone and the map on it.
Hey John, I want you to do something quick. Could you send me your active location, and at least a video or something that could tell me where Potter is heading?"
John did exactly that. He pulled out his phone and started giving him his active location and recording Potter's movement.
Ren, who got John's active location and the footage, cross analysed it with the map, and he started to see it clearly. Potter wasn't heading into a specific direction. It seemed like he didn't have a place in mind to go, but he seemed to move randomly through the streets and alleyways. He seemed to not even think about where he was turning.
So there was an obvious pattern to his movements.
Ren texted Kai, who was trying to indirectly chase Potter, and told him to go to a specific spot.
And eventually, while Potter was moving through an alley that he just entered, as soon as he reached a turn, Kai immediately popped out of that corner and cut down Potter's broom, making Potter fall to the ground and unable to use his ability.
Potter tried to run on foot, but Kai, who was much more physically fit, managed to catch him and pin him to the ground.
And with that… they managed to catch Harry Potter.
