Chapter 52 - Chapter 52 "Loyal Samurai" Akechi Mitsuhide

"Lord, what in God's name is that thing?!"

Although Old Mike indulged in smoking, drinking, eating meat, and womanizing, and had disciplined himself to maintain these habits for half his life, he was actually a devout traditional Catholic.

Despite being steeped in the mythical tales of the Bible, he found what he saw before him incredibly unbelievable. He had never heard of such a thing in myths, nor had he encountered it on the battlefields where he had spent most of his life.

Thus, he was so surprised.

Electric light flashed, blinding the eyes, and a crackling sound like a thousand birds chirping roared beside his ears, almost tearing Mike's eardrums.

In the briefest blink of an eye, Mike only saw a figure enveloped in dense, vibrant electric arcs descend like a Thunder God onto a Scavengers' grey SUV.

The blurred movements made it impossible to see clearly, only vaguely catching a single frame of a flashing white blade shadow.

The next moment, after the figure flashed onto another vehicle, the vehicle that had been driving silently exploded, collapsing like building blocks. The vehicle and the Scavengers still inside instantly shattered into pieces, smashing onto the dark road. Mike could even clearly see the clean, precise cuts between the bloody chunks of flesh.

Just like that, one after another, like some kind of rule-based attack, every time the blurred figure flashing with electric light passed a vehicle, that vehicle would explode into pieces. No wonder Anthony heard less and less gunfire.

"Damn it! Damn it! What the hell is that!!!"

"Something is attacking us!!!"

It wasn't until the last SUV remained that the Scavengers inside finally realized their surrounding companions had vanished. Their scalps instantly tingled, and a powerful fear shot up their spines.

"Shit, where is it!!!"

"Come out!!!"

Driven by fear, the Scavengers shot wildly around the vehicle. This was no longer a battle; they had lost their minds to terror.

What they didn't know was that the enemy who had destroyed several of their vehicles was right on their roof.

"Mike? Mike? Do you want to die, you idiot? Get your head back in here!" Anthony, who was driving, didn't know what had just happened. He only saw that old bastard Mike sticking his head out as if he was afraid the bullets wouldn't find him, and he instantly flew into a rage and cursed aloud.

But Mike had no time to pay attention to that drunkard Anthony. He was completely focused now, more focused than when he was fighting for survival on the battlefield, because he had finally seen clearly the guy who had taken out almost all the Scavengers in just one or two seconds.

He saw it. Mike's pea-green eyes were bulging, smoothing out all the wrinkles around his Shar Pei-like eye sockets.

Flashing electric light, crimson Samurai armor, and an unknown pattern painted on the breastplate—this is what Mike saw.

This fully armed guy, who looked like a medieval Japanese Samurai, was standing on the roof. The katana he held high was wrapped in vibrant electric arcs, hidden in the blinding sunlight, making his true appearance impossible to discern.

"Is the enemy dead?"

"Is it done?"

The impotent rage inside the SUV finally subsided. A series of crisp clicking sounds of empty weapons was heard as the sweaty fingers of the Scavengers released the triggers.

Contrary to their expectations of being inexplicably shredded into chunks along with the car, like their companions, all they heard was the muffled engine noise and the guardrails constantly flashing past outside.

They were fine.

Just as this thought arose in their minds, a sudden, sharp metallic tearing sound instantly made their hair stand on end, and they gripped their weapons tightly.

The Scavengers didn't know what was happening, but Mike saw it clearly.

The Samurai, holding the blade in a reverse grip directly above the driver's seat, plunged the sharp katana straight through the roof.

Before the Scavenger driver could react, the sharp blade pierced straight through the top of his skull and into his torso, meeting no resistance, as easy as cutting tofu.

The Scavengers in the cabin were still searching for potential enemies along the road, completely failing to notice that their driver had died instantly.

It wasn't until the blade was pulled back, and the driver's head, leaking yellow and white matter, slumped onto the steering wheel, blaring the harsh horn, that the Scavengers woke up as if from a dream.

"Shit, shit, the enemy is on the car!!!"

The four or five Scavengers inside the small vehicle erupted into chaos, raising their reloaded guns and firing at the roof.

The roar of gunpowder ignition sounded again. The roof was ripped open by the dense rain of bullets, creating countless holes. Sunlight streamed through these dense perforations, but not a single drop of the enemy's blood fell.

The Scavengers were still surprised, but Mike nervously gripped the window ledge. He saw it: the Samurai had flipped into the car the moment they opened fire!

Before he could tell Anthony to look, the vehicle suddenly shook, and blood mixed with screams sprayed out of the windows.

Then, a pair of blood-stained gauntlets gripped the roof, and the familiar figure climbed back onto the SUV's roof.

It was still the fully armed Samurai armor, but it was now covered in mutilated human organs and viscous fresh blood.

"No..." Mike spoke incredulously. In a trance, he saw the Samurai look back at him. The gaze visible through the slits of the Samurai's faceplate was like the extreme cold accumulated beneath ice sheets for millennia, instantly generating an immense chill in the viewer's heart—the fear of having one's life stripped away.

Mike opened his mouth, trying to say something, but a sudden flash of electric light passed, and the Samurai's figure vanished from the wrecked SUV.

The dazed Mike slumped back into his seat. He was still struggling to accept everything that had just happened.

It takes a while to tell, but it happened fast. The entire process just now took less than ten seconds. In those brief ten seconds, several vehicles and over twenty fully armed Scavengers were eliminated.

"Where are the enemies? Did they escape?" Anthony, driving nervously, didn't hear any more gunfire from behind. He subconsciously glanced at the rearview mirror and was stunned to find that all the Scavengers chasing them had vanished.

"Escape? No, they were all taken out," Mike mumbled, shaking his head, his eyes staring blankly at the road ahead. Although Anthony wanted to ask more questions, Mike's dazed appearance suggested he was in no state to answer.

When the two finally arrived at the seaside, preparing to dump the large metal box from the car into the sea, they realized something was wrong.

The metal shutter was riddled with dense bullet indentations. Fortunately, the vehicle was armored, or the two of them would have been shredded by the rain of bullets along with the car.

But this wasn't what surprised them. What surprised them was that the metal roller door looked like it had been violently forced open, with a twisted dent ripped out of the handle area below.

The two exchanged surprised glances, speechless for a moment.

Meanwhile, Berry finally let out a sigh of relief.

Thankfully, everything went according to plan.

What was that just now? What else could it be? It was the other combat unit she had invested heavily in creating, a worthy opponent she specifically reserved for Hammersmith.

Thinking of Hammersmith, Berry thought again about this mission, and everything that had happened in the game.

"V, come here," Berry said to V, leaning against the windowsill.

"What's up?" V, who had just changed back into her casual clothes, responded with a smile. She still preferred comfortable athletic wear. Kicking the toe of her sneaker, V walked over to Berry.

"V, I have something for you." After a moment of silence, Berry lifted the hair from V's forehead and spoke, her eyes full of seriousness.

"Hmm, what is it?" Seeing her girlfriend look so unusually serious, V smiled brightly and leaned against the windowsill, holding Berry's hand that was caressing her cheek.

Looking at her little girlfriend and sworn sister, V's expression was full of tenderness.

But Berry shook her head and remained silent. She walked to the sofa, unzipped a black canvas bag, and pulled something out.

This was something she had specially prepared for V.
