Chapter 191 - Chunin Exams #49

Konohagakure:

Konoha Stadium :

The entire stadium was drowning in chaos and absolute despair. And it wasn't just the civilians losing their minds.

Seeing a tailed beast—a monster 30-40 of meters tall—fully unleashed right in the middle of the stadium was enough to break the morale of the shinobi, too. Whether they were from the Sand, the Sound, or Konoha itself, everyone collectively disengaged from their fights and ran for their dear lives.

If the sudden, forced awakening of the civilian crowd earlier was discomforting, it was at least manageable for the ninja.

But this? A literal natural disaster made of nasty, suffocating chakra occupying 70% of the arena floor? The despair gripping the shinobi—even the hardened Jonin—was 100% genuine.

This catastrophic situation instantly drew the attention of every single person present: the fleeing shinobi, the panicked civilians, the ANBU, and even the Third Hokage trapped inside the purple barrier on the roof.

Kakashi, Guy, and the other Konoha Genin watched in a cold sweat as the towering beast simply shifted its weight. With a single, casual swipe of its massive hand, it obliterated an entire section of the arena walls, crushing dozens of people in the process.

But before anyone in the stadium could even think about evacuating, strategizing, or launching a desperate retaliation against the monster, a sharp, echoing CLAP cut through the noise. Followed immediately by a booming shout.

"ADAMANTINE SEALING CHAINS!"

CLANG!

CLANG!

CLANG!

CLANG!

Suddenly, amidst the overwhelming despair, ten massive, glowing golden chains violently erupted from the stands. The crowd watched with wide, disbelieving eyes as the spectral Golden chains shot through the air, completely blurring as they rushed the humongous beast.

Two chains slammed into the beast's legs, instantly coiling tight around its knees and feet.

Two more snapped around its massive shoulders and arms.

Another two wrapped brutally around its chest.

Two more dug deep into its stomach and thick thighs.

And the final two golden chains shot straight for its head—one wrapping around the beast's neck like a heavy collar, and the other clamping its massive jaws shut like a muzzle.

The entire stadium froze as the giant beast was stopped dead in its tracks. It immediately began thrashing, trying to let out a deafening roar, but with its mouth clamped shut, all that escaped was a muffled, terrifying growl.

GRRRRRRRR!

The beast violently jerked its arms and legs, but the glowing chains held with absolute, unbreakable tension, completely paralyzing the monster right in the center of the arena.

"GET DOWN!"

The crowd heard that commanding voice echo again. The golden chains suddenly burned brighter, tightening their grip on the beast. With a horrifying groan of shifting sand and chakra, the gargantuan monster was physically dragged downward from its standing position.

It was a Raw show of dominance against a walking natural calamity. Spectators' jaws hit the floor as they watched the towering beast slowly, agonizingly forced down by sheer brute strength.

Up in the stands, Kakashi watched the beast get slammed onto its knees. He didn't recognize the golden chains as the "Copy Ninja" who knew a thousand jutsu; he recognized them as the former student of the Fourth Hokage. And knowing that, Kakashi already knew exactly who was pulling this off.

"........Naruto..!!"

Hearing Kakashi breathe that name, Guy and Genma snapped their heads toward him. Recognition dawned on their faces a second later.

Genma was the first to speak, his trademark senbon drooping from his lips in bewilderment. ".....Are you saying this is Uzumaki Naruto's doing, Kakashi??"

".....Yeah. Naruto awakened his Uzumaki bloodline a while back. It has to be him."

"..........I almost forgot he's Kushina-sama's son too," Genma muttered, watching in awe as the massive beast was fully restrained on its knees by the chains.

"....SUBARASHII, NARUTO-KUN! What a Youthful ENTRY! To think you would let your Youth shine this brightly...... Uwahhh, as your senior, I already feel useless!" Guy wiped a tears from his eyee, his blood boiling with extreme passion as he watched the spectacle.

But Kakashi's sharp voice instantly snapped him out of his melodrama. "Let's move. We need to protect Naruto."

"Protect?"

"Binding a literal Tailed Beast with chakra chains isn't exactly a walk in the park........ Let's go."

Without another word, Kakashi blurred into motion, heading straight toward the origin point of the chains. Genma and Guy instantly fell in right behind him.

They navigated through the crumbling arena and soon spotted Naruto standing high up on one of the spectator terraces. His hands were clapped tightly together in a seal, his stance firmly planted.

Surrounding him was a massive, tightly coordinated defensive perimeter made up of dozens of his shadow clones and a handful of other Konoha shinobi. Some of them were already actively engaged in combat with Sound and Sand ninja who had figured out what was happening and were trying to assassinate the boy holding the chains.

(.....So his shadow clones and the other Leaf ninja have already formed a guard detail.......)

But as Kakashi and the others got closer, they immediately noticed something wrong. The main body of Naruto—the one erupting with the golden sealing chains—was not looking good.

"He doesn't look Good ," Genma noted flatly. Without missing a beat, he leaped forward, intercepting an incoming Sand shinobi with his senbon and clearing a path for Kakashi.

"........It seems it's time for me to step up as well....... DYNAMIC ENTRY!" Guy roared, flying over the clones to deliver a brutal kick to an enemy shinobi, planting himself firmly on the frontline of Naruto's defensive circle.

Kakashi slipped past the Konoha shinobi and the ring of shadow clones, stopping right next to Naruto's main body and noticed his students condition

The kid's face was completely pale and bloodless. He was sweating profusely, and a thin trail of fresh blood was leaking from the corner of his mouth.

(Looking at him........ he hasn't taken any hits. ........Did he bite his lip that hard from the strain?........ Binding a Tailed Beast must be putting a terrifying amount of pressure on his chakra network.)

While analyzing the situation, Kakashi's hand suddenly blurred to the hilt of his sword.

Clang!

A stray shuriken came flying out of the chaos, but Kakashi effortlessly swatted it out of the air with a quick draw of his blade. Keeping his eye on the perimeter, Kakashi spoke softly.

"...Everything okay, Naruto?"

Hearing Kakashi's voice, Naruto bit his bleeding lip. Feeling the crushing pressure of the chains and the violent, endless resistance from the One-Tail, Naruto decided not to play the invincible hero.

"Nah. Not at all."

"....."

Kakashi blinked, completely caught off guard. He had expected a lot of different responses—maybe a forced grin or a stubborn declaration—but not blunt honesty.

Seeing Kakashi's momentary silence, Naruto decided to just lay out the facts.

"Chaining down a Tailed Beast... I think I bit off way more than I can chew right now."

"...Naruto." Kakashi's visible eye softened with genuine worry. It was really rare to hear his most reliable, overpowered student admit he was at his limit.

"...Kakashi-sensei, I don't think I can keep this thing chained up for much longer."

Kakashi nodded firmly. Instead of panicking, his tactical brain went into overdrive. "....Then we have to seal it before your chains give out. Let me signal the Sealing Squad."

Kakashi rapidly scanned the stadium, trying to locate any surviving members of the barrier and sealing corps. But just as he sent up a flare, Naruto pointed out a massive flaw in the plan.

"Umm, yeah, but Gaara is hiding deep inside that beast's head."

Kakashi snapped his gaze down toward the kneeling beast. The monster's head was dozens of meters thick, made of impossibly dense, chakra-infused sand.

"...That's troublesome."

Unlike the original canon timeline, Gaara hadn't had the time to use his False Sleep jutsu and fully relinquish control to Shukaku. The seal was breaking down, and Gaara was lost in a berserk state deep within the sand And Because of that, he wasn't conveniently hanging halfway out of the beast's forehead like a giant, punchable Pimple . He was fully submerged inside that Sand Head armor.

Looking at the impenetrable sand skull, Naruto spoke through gritted teeth, straining to keep the chains tight. He honestly hadn't expected restraining just the One-Tail to put this much pressure on him, Taking a shallow breath, he offered a solution.

( Maybe because I awakened them for not too long )

"....If you can manage to drag him out of that sand shell, even I can use the chains to seal him away."

".......Even with my Chidori, I don't think I can pierce deep enough to—"

Just as Kakashi was frantically racking his brain for a way to excavate Gaara out of a mountain of demon sand, a new voice suddenly cut through the tension.

"So, as long as that Gaara kid is dragged out of the sand, the situation will be under control, right Kakashi? Naruto?"

Hearing that deep, serious voice, Kakashi and Naruto turned their heads to see Konoha's Green Beast standing right beside them. Surprised but relieved by Guy's sudden appearance, they both gave a firm nod.

"Yeah."

Guy nodded back, his eyes burning with determination. "Yoshhh! Then Naruto-kun, you just focus on the sealing! I will drag that kid out of that sand head!"

Without waiting for another word, Might Guy blurred into action. Naruto, Kakashi, and the others watched in awe as Guy leaped high above the monster's massive sand hand. Suddenly, an intense blue-white vapor exploded around him.

Joining his hands together and locking his focus squarely on Gaara's location inside the beast or targeting the beast whole head , Guy shouted at the top of his lungs:

"HIRUDORA!" (Daytime Tiger)

From Guy's hands, a massive, bluish-white tiger head made of pure physical force manifested. By opening the Seventh Gate—the Gate of Wonder—Guy had compressed the surrounding air with sheer, terrifying speed and strength, shaping the pressure into a roaring white tiger before launching it directly at his target.

This was an attack made of pure pressurized air rather than chakra, it completely bypasses any elemental defenses, possessing enough raw destructive power to blow away entire forests and gouge out the earth itself.

The tiger roared, brutally colliding with the Ichibi's giant sand head.

Naruto watched as not only the Ichibi's head, but even some of his own Admantine sealing chains were violently blasted apart by the sheer physical force of the blow.

(.......Damn.)

But while admiring the jaw-dropping spectacle, Naruto didn't forget his main job. With the head chains blown open, the rest of the chains loosened their grip as the monster's massive body began dissolving back into normal sand, raining down onto the ground. Focusing his eyes, Naruto soon spotted Gaara tumbling through the falling debris. He immediately dropped down from the stands and approached the kid's body in the arena in full speed .

(Oh boy...)

Looking at the Sand Genin, Naruto almost felt a pang of pity. Gaara's entire body looked utterly broken; his limbs were twisted in completely wrong directions, and he had clearly lost consciousness. Yet, despite being knocked out cold by Guy's devastating strike, the dark, bubbling Tailed Beast chakra was still violently leaking from his body.

Seeing this, Naruto willed the rest of his chains into motion. They quickly snaked around Gaara, coiling tighter and tighter to make absolutely sure nothing else could go wrong. By the time he was done, Naruto had practically turned Gaara into a glowing 'golden dumpling' made of Adamantine Sealing Chains.

"Alright, it's done," Naruto breathed a sigh of relief as he secured the chains. Beside him, Kakashi also let out a breath he didn't know he was holding.

The disaster was finally over.

But the same couldn't be said for the invading forces. Seeing not only Temari and the others defeated, but their village's ultimate weapon—their Jinchuriki—captured by Konoha, the Sand higher-ups and Jonin completely lost their cool.

(We can lose the battle, but we cannot lose the Jinchuriki!)

That exact thought rang through the minds of every sharp Sand Jonin on the field. Rapidly falling back, they rallied whoever was left and locked all their murderous intent straight onto the blonde kid holding the chains.

"We cannot let our Jinchuriki fall into the hands of the Leaf!" Baki roared, being the first to charge forward.

The others immediately followed suit in a frantic frenzy.

"Yeahhh! We can lose this whole war, but not the Tailed Beast!"

"Kill the blonde!"

"KILL THE TREE HUGGERS!"

"Where am I??"

" Wanna Piss together ?? "

Naruto and Kakashi watched as hundreds of bloodshot-eyed shinobi began swarming toward them. Seeing the incoming wave, Kakashi immediately shifted his sword into a combat stance, ready to engage. Naruto's shadow clones rushed over to form a defensive line, but this time, the sheer number of enemies was just too overwhelming.

But right as Naruto and Kakashi felt they were about to be overrun, a chorus of voices rang out across the battlefield.

"ASA KUJAKU!" (Morning Peacock)

Might Guy swept in from the left flank, now running on the 6th Gate, and violently intercepted the vanguard of enemies.

"Gentle Fist: 64 Palms!"

From the right side came Hinata, quickly followed by Ino, Sasuke, Shikamaru, and the rest of their peers.

"Shadow Possession Jutsu!"

"Fire Release: Great Fireball Jutsu!" Sasuke had clearly received some emergency treatment and was back on his feet, though he was running on fumes.

"Rising Twin Dragons!" Tenten unleashed her secret technique, showering the crowd of enemies with a dense barrage of weapons.

"Wind Release: Breakthrough!" Shizuka watched Sasuke's fireball and quickly added her wind jutsu to the mix, fanning the flames into an inferno.

"Fang Over Fang!" Kiba and Hana joined the fray, tearing through the enemy ranks like twin drills.

Soon, Shino, Karin, Yugao, and Sakura also plunged into the battle. Along with dozens of other Konoha shinobi, they completely surrounded Naruto and his chained 'golden dumpling' in a massive, unbreakable protective ring.

"Genjutsu: Tree Binding!"

"Wind Blades!"

From another flank, Asuma, Kurenai, and their squads pushed forward, solidifying the ironclad defense.

At this point, the fight was basically over. The invading forces finally understood that this war—and their so-called 'Konoha Crush' plan—was utterly crushed. The Sound shinobi had already begun retreating after receiving a silent signal from Kabuto. The only ones left throwing themselves into the meat grinder were the Sand shinobi, desperately fighting to steal their village's ultimate weapon back from Konoha.

(.........To think I will actually feel the lack of chakra )

Naruto thought. He sat heavily on the ground, struggling to catch his breath in pure exhaustion while still actively maintaining the suspended Gaara dumpling. His chakra was now only left in drops , and the sheer mental and physical toll was also taking place on him as Ichibi's chakra was still struggling in the dumpling .

"You okay, Naruto?" Yugao suddenly appeared beside him, asking in a serious tone. She was closely followed by Karin and Sakura.

Seeing them, Naruto nodded, flashing an exhausted smile. "It's alright..... I just never thought there'd be a day where I actually run low on chakra."

He looked at the bundled-up Gaara in front of him. Even now, he was still keeping a bunch of shadow clones active to help the other Konoha shinobi defend the perimeter. Suddenly, Naruto remembered a crucial detail and snapped his head up.

"Karin... the barrier!"

"Huh??"

"The barrier... get the barrier up, come on, fast!"

"...OH! On it!" Karin instantly realized the implication and scrambled to start setting the protective barrier back up. Yugao immediately shifted into a lookout position, eyes peeled for anyone trying to sneak closer.

Looking out past them, Naruto noticed Hinata and Ino right in the thick of the battle, smoothly directing the flow of the allied forces.

(......Both of them have really grown... but Hinata........ she's actually coordinating the battle and leading people instead of just standing there worrying about me.)

While everyone else was busy, someone else was gripping a kunai tightly in her hand, constantly looking around. Only this time, her focus was split dead 50-50 between Sasuke-kun and Naruto.

(........Was Naruto really that strong?? He actually subdued a giant monster....... I don't think even Sasuke-ku—NO! No way, Sasuke-kun totally could.... definitely...... probably...)

The more Sakura thought about it, the more her unwavering confidence in Sasuke began to crack. After all, she could still perfectly picture the look of pure, unadulterated disbelief on Sasuke's face when they watched Naruto not only beat off Gaara, but actually chain up a Tailed Beast.

Sakura looked back over her shoulder at Naruto, her eyes tracing the glowing golden chains extending from his back and coiling around the Sand Genin.

Suddenly, she watched Naruto's head snap straight up, his exhausted face shifting into a dead-serious expression. Seeing his reaction, Sakura and Yugao both followed his gaze toward the roof of the stadium.

The giant Purple Barrier was fading away.

Watching the flames dissipate, Sakura heard Naruto mutter quietly,

"Is it over?"
