The hall was too quiet for my liking. There were too many eyes, too many whispers but none of them belonged to Tessa.
I clenched my jaw and straightened in my chair, ignoring the elders gathered around the long table, pretending not to notice the tension twisting through the room. They felt it. They always did. My wolf's fury wasn't something anyone could ignore.
But she still wasn't here.
On my sister's death anniversary.
On the one day she should have been the first person to show her face.
An elder leaned close to the one beside him, whispering something behind a raised hand. Another shook his head disapprovingly.
My wolf snarled inside me.
She disrespects your blood. She disrespects her memory.
"I sent her a message," I muttered under my breath. "I sent a damn letter. I even texted her. She had one task today, and she can't even…"
My wolf pushed against my skin so hard my nails lengthened for a second.
