Chapter 46 - Snow'd In Home

As the car stopped, Nil and my dad were already deep into conversation. I don't know how it came to this, but they seem to be getting along quite well now… And my mom isn't too far off either.

The snow in the forest was thick, making it quite difficult to open the car door. On top of that, it was COLD. And I mean like, the night walk, but 10 times worse. I'll have to improvise here, forest chills are no joke, especially to newcomers…

"Hey, let me carry some of your bags. I can get it done fast enough for you to save time and get into the house."

"Are you sure?" She whispered.

"Yeah, of course, I'm used to carrying big loads!"

She nodded before placing two of her bags on top of mine. "Be fast, though."

Now! I have to get all of this over there, a good 10 meters away!

I looked at the distance, ignoring the cold for the time being, 'Righty, let's do this.'

I grabbed both of the heaviest bags first, putting them over my shoulders. Next were the lighter ones, 2 on my left and 2 on my right… Light work!

I stepped forward, my knees deep in snow. My lack of boots was quite clear after my first step, as my shoes soaked in the water that melted under my last bit of heat.

"Kea, hurry up, it's almost time to eat!" My dad yelled.

"Ok!" I stopped overthinking about the snow and just rushed to the door, reaching out in a record 11 seconds.

*Slam* The bags fell one by one, alerting each of the residents to my arrival.

A head poked around the corner, a brown haired girl… My sister, the only person who'd still pretend they're a child so they could get more attention from a certain sibling.

"Big brother!" She ran to me like a lost child returning to her mother.

I dodged, quickly pushing her past me, causing her to run into the door.

"Hmmph, I just wanted to say hi!" She pouted.

"Mhm. That's nice." She always has a hidden intention.
