Chapter 11 - Chapter 11 Learning to Apply Makeup

The arrival of Rey, the new student at school, made Ratna happy to go to school. Rey's face kept popping up in her mind. Ratna wanted to put on makeup to look pretty, but she didn't know how.

Ratna believed she was born beautiful, but the glasses her father, Mr. Rikita, chose really annoyed her.

She remembered that when she was choosing glasses, she wanted a cool pair, but her father chose a very thick pair.

"Ratna, what's important for glasses is that they are comfortable to wear. Don't look at the small ones, besides being expensive, you'll have trouble seeing later," her father said, taking the glasses that Ratna thought were cool and handing her the thick glasses that Ratna now wore.

In her heart, Ratna complained, "Dad has terrible taste....."

That afternoon Ratna wanted to play, putting on her mother's makeup. She was trying out her mother's eyeshadow.

Suddenly Romi, her older brother, walked in. Ratna and Romi were very close; so close that Romi often gave Ratna snacks from his pocket money.

Unlike Ratna, even though Romi wore glasses, he didn't look strange; instead, he looked even more handsome. With his tall posture, many girls liked Romi. Actually, Romi's face was Ratna's face, the male version, but somehow, Romi looked handsome, while Ratna looked strange.

In Romi's hand, there was a women's magazine whose cover usually displayed the face of an actress.

"Ratna, I want my little sister to be pretty. Here, I bought this; I asked my female classmate to get it for me," Romi said gently. His hand showed an eyebrow pencil, eye tape, black mascara, and red lipstick.

Secretly, as a good older brother, Romi always paid attention to his only sister. He often thought hard about how to make his sister look attractive.

"What is this? We are not allowed to wear makeup at school," Ratna asked, confused.

"Relax, I know what I'm going to do with my sister," Romi whispered, smiling.

Romi then brushed Ratna's eyebrows and eyelashes with mascara, drew Ratna's sparse eyebrows with the eyebrow pencil, applied the eye tape, and lipstick.

"Ugh, we're not allowed to wear lipstick at school," Ratna grumbled as if annoyed.

"Relax, leave it to the expert. After applying lipstick, you rub it with a tissue so it's slightly gone, but there's still a hint of red."

"Ah, it's pretty too," Ratna muttered, satisfied, while admiring her face in the mirror.

"You have to put on makeup to look beautiful according to a man's eyes, and I am a man!" Romi exclaimed, smiling proudly.

"I like the faces of movie stars, so I'll also put makeup on my sister like a movie star, but with simple techniques," Romi said again, while looking at the movie star's face on the magazine cover.

Romi did have a talent for drawing; he had once won a drawing contest. For him, decorating his sister's face was like drawing.

"This mascara is also waterproof, so you can wear it swimming," Romi added with satisfaction. He was happy that his sister looked more attractive.

Actually, Ratna's facial bone structure was already quite good, but her eyebrows were thin, and her eyes looked tired, so once mascara, eye tape, and lipstick were applied, her facial features became more prominent.

Ratna smiled happily, admiring herself in the mirror.

"When can I wear makeup like this to school?" Ratna asked shyly.

"Well, whenever, maybe if there's a party?" Romi answered casually.

"But none of my friends have invited me to their birthday parties," Ratna complained with a pout. Romi smiled at his sister's pouting face; to him, she looked cute.
