Chapter 14 - Donning Armor!

After all the swamp lizardmen were escorted away, McKen glanced at Lear with a subtle look in his eyes.

"Lord Lear, if you have any further needs for slaves, feel free to come to my Dragon Fang Merchant Guild. We will definitely give you the lowest internal price."

This is a lord favored by Princess Felena; based on this relationship alone, he has a bright future ahead of him.

Not to mention their mysterious and unpredictable methods.

Only a lord like this can gain a foothold in the wilderness!

Lear nodded.

"Then I thank you in advance, Chairman McCann. I will definitely come to bother you again in the future."

"You're too kind."

After exchanging a few more polite words, Lear didn't linger and boarded the carriage arranged by the other party to return to Rose House.

As McCann watched him leave, the smile on his face gradually faded, and his gaze became deep.

"Unfortunately, I can't afford to gamble anymore. The stakes required to invest in a pioneer lord are too high."

When Lear returned to the Rose House, Jasmine, the high-ranking knight maid of level 12 who was by Philena's side, was waiting at the door.

Her blonde hair was particularly dazzling.

"Your Excellency Lear, the supplies His Highness sent have been placed in the side courtyard. Please take inventory."

"However, those 100 craftsmen will not be delivered to you until tomorrow."

Although I don't understand why His Highness values this down-on-his-luck nobleman who was living in the slums just two days ago.

But since the order had already been given, no matter how many questions she had, she had to make sure the task was completed.

Li Er nodded slightly.

"Miss Jasmine, thank you for your hard work."

The two had barely exchanged a few polite words when a line of wagons carrying the wetland lizardmen slowly came to a stop on the spacious flat ground.

One by one, swamp creatures covered in gray-green scales rolled over and sank down.

The muscles bulged high, exuding a sense of power.

His amber eyes were cold and ferocious, as if he were about to devour someone at any moment.

As the other person's gaze swept over them, the doormen who were greeting guests suddenly felt a chill run down their spines.

That's terrifying.

"Sir, all the wetland lizardmen have been delivered."

The leader of the escort vehicle strode forward.

Lear looked at the level 9 knight in armor and smiled slightly.

He reached out and took out about ten silver coins, handing them over.

"Thank you all for your hard work. Please have a glass of rum."

I bought a level 6 army for 1000 gold coins. This is such a great deal, it's hard not to be happy.

The team leader took the silver coin, and his smile immediately brightened.

You're too kind!

Extra money, no matter how little, is never too little; no matter how much, is never too much.

Without lingering any longer, he turned and left with three squads of guards.

Jasmine, who was standing nearby, looked somewhat surprised when she saw this.

"You purchased lizardmen as guards?"

Lear looked at these ferocious lives, a slight smile playing on his lips.

These are all the capital for expansion!

"Yes, Miss Jasmine."

The other person opened their mouth as if to say something, then closed it again, finally speaking hesitantly.

"His Highness inquires when you plan to depart?"

Each pioneering lord has one month to prepare after selecting a territory to pioneer.

When the deadline arrives, one must go to the Grand Duke's residence to apply for an extension, which cannot exceed three months.

If you do not set off by the end of the three-month period, you will be punished by imperial law!

At best, they would be exiled to the army and have their property confiscated; at worst, they would be executed directly for desertion.

In this extraordinary world, there's no escape.

"A decision can only be made tomorrow, but no later than half a month."

The other party nodded knowingly.

"Good luck to you."

Then, hesitantly added another sentence.

"His Highness values you highly."

Lear smiled but said nothing.

He turned his head and glanced at the wetland lizardman, who was as docile as a kitten.

"Miss Jasmine, where is the armor?"

"They're all inside."

He nodded and waved.

"Come with me."

Without a second's hesitation, all the wetland lizardmen followed.

The supplies, along with the carriages and horses, were all in the side courtyard, but the coachman left without staying.

The Rose House is owned by the princess of Loran City, and its area is quite extravagant.

A single side courtyard can be larger than the estates of many minor nobles.

The horses pulling the carriage were variegated unicorns, over two meters tall at the shoulder, and looked very strong.

Right now, it's leisurely munching on grass in front of the carriage.

The armor was piled up on the ground, forming a small hill, reflecting a cold metallic gleam.

Each suit of armor was equipped with a sharp steel blade.

As I gazed at these suits of armor, the attribute panel quietly appeared in my mind.

Standard Armor

[Rank]: 1 star

[Characteristics]: Forged from refined steel, it has good defensive capabilities. It incorporates dwarven techniques, making the armor suitable for most humans and humanoid beings under two meters tall.

[Evaluation]: Standard armor with good sturdiness.

Two hundred sets of 1-star armor!

Lear took a deep breath.

"Everyone, put on your armor."

Upon receiving the order, the wetland lizardmen immediately rushed forward excitedly, picking up suits of armor and helping each other put them on.

These armors, with their distinct dwarven craftsmanship, are exceptionally well-designed.

The 1.7-meter-tall lizardman wore it, and it fit his body very well.

The black armor gleamed with a chilling light, and the sharp steel blade in his hand made the wetland lizardman appear even more ferocious.

Its thick, powerful tail, like that of a crocodile, protrudes from the specially designed tail section of the armor and can easily break tree branches as thick as an arm when it exerts force.

His amber eyes revealed a ferocity and bloodlust that sent chills down one's spine.

They were shorter than the soldiers guarding the Rose House, but no less imposing.

Already possessing scales for defense, their combat power is further enhanced after donning armor.

Two squadrons of fully armed Level 6 beginner knights.

Looking at the fully equipped swamp lizardmen before him, Lear felt a surge of excitement.

Two days ago, he was still living in the slum of Ninth Street, racking his brains for a way out.

Two days later, he possessed a power entirely of his own, a large amount of resources needed for expansion, and a divine status that could drive the world mad!

The future is in our hands!

The smile on his lips gradually spread unrestrained!

As Philena's personal maid, Jasmine was more like a secretary, with many tasks on her hands. After the wetland lizardmen put on their armor, she took her leave.

Lear did not discriminate and offered about ten silver coins, but the other party politely refused.

As someone close to the princess of Lolan City, she was not short of money.

Upon returning to Rose Manor, immediately go to meet the city's princess, the most dazzling goddess in the North.

"Your Highness, all the supplies have been delivered to the Rose House. Lord Lear was just returning when I arrived, and he had purchased a batch of slaves as guards."

At this point, his expression became somewhat strange.

Philena noticed her unusual expression and spoke softly.

"But what's the problem?"

"Not really, but the slave guards Lord Lear purchased are a group of wetland lizardmen!"

Wetland lizard people?

Felena's eyes held a hint of curiosity.

"In the slave market, only the Dragon Tooth Merchant Guild recently purchased a batch of Wetland Lizardmen. The Colosseum should really like these swamp creatures, so why are they being sold to Lord Lear now?"

This flower of the North, Loran Rose, is not the genius who only studies magic, as the outside world believes.

On the contrary, four years ago, when she had just turned twenty, she began to get involved in the political affairs of Loran City, and in just one year, she won the respect of all the political officials.

These titles of future extraordinary mages will take time to be realized.

And the ruler of Loran City, Queen Loran, could also describe the flower of the North at this moment.

These things were kept secret and were only known to the highest levels of the Grand Duke's mansion and the top nobles of Loran City.

Jasmine said with a strange expression.

"Your Highness, the manager of the arena has been transferred. He used to have close ties with the Dragon Fang Merchant Guild."

"Moreover, wetland lizards are inherently ferocious, and even the Ring of Slavery cannot suppress them, so the Colosseum is unwilling to purchase them."

Philena raised her eyebrows slightly.

"It's true that wetland lizards are inherently ferocious; I killed quite a few seven years ago. But why did Lord Lear choose them? Can you control them?"

Can it be controlled?

Jasmine's expression turned strange as she thought of the swamp lizardman, who was as obedient as a kitten and would do whatever she was told.

"Perhaps, to your surprise, those wetland lizardmen not only did not reveal their ferocious nature, but were actually quite docile, as if they had been completely tamed by Lord Lear."

Philena smiled gently.

That makes sense.

Jasmine was somewhat surprised.

"Your Highness, are you not surprised?"

Surprised? What's so surprising?

A fallen nobleman descendant from the slums could remain calm in her presence and even tell her to his face that they had become friends.

Could such a person be an ordinary person?

Philena looked out the window, the azure sky reflected in her sapphire blue eyes, making her appear incredibly mysterious.
