Jenifer's POV
With my gentle touch, Romano began to calm down. His sobbing subsided as his eyes focused on me while I carefully cleaned his face.
It reminded me of those days before Christmas Eve; I wondered when was the last time I had touched his face with such tenderness.
After making sure his face was spotless, I asked with worry, "Romano, how are you feeling right now? Does anything hurt?"
"Mom, come home with me," Romano suddenly said, his eyes full of yearning.
I stared at him, completely stunned and speechless.
"Romano, go home with your grandma now. If you don't feel well, just tell her and she'll take you to the hospital," I said.
"I'm sorry, Romano. I should have watched you more carefully. I wasn't paying attention, and that's how you got hurt," I added.
As I spoke, Romano suddenly threw his arms around me, holding on tight like he was scared I might vanish.
"Mom, I forgive you. Please come home with me," Romano begged, his voice thick with emotion.
