Xie Manyu awoke from sleep, woken by a sudden urge.
Bleary-eyed, she picked up the communication device from the bedside and glanced at the time; it was almost dawn.
She stumbled out of bed, put on her slippers, and went to the bathroom.
"Brother should be back by now, right?" she muttered as she walked to her brother's bedroom door, which was slightly ajar, and peeked inside.
The bed was empty.
"Didn't he say he'd be off work by ten thirty? Where did that rascal Xiao Lu run off to again?" Xie Manyu placed her hands on her hips, puffing out her cheeks in annoyance.
"The bed's not made, the sheets are a mess, books scattered everywhere, slippers here and there, dirty clothes just thrown on the floor... Oh, heavens!"
She surveyed the chaotic state of Lu Xun's room, utterly astounded.
As the saying goes, behind a successful man... there's surely another side of failure?
